Chapter 3 - C1: New World

Mo Fan slowly opened his eyes as Zhang Xiahou, his best friend, roused him from his sleep.

"Brother Fan, don't sleep now, it's your turn to awaken magic soon and stop reading all those novels late into the night"

Mo Fan quickly shed his groggy state and organised his memories. He had transmigrated from his old world to this magic world as a fifteen-year-old; the only thing he brought with him was a pendant given to him by Old Man Ying, which he now suspected to be the cause of the whole thing.

Imagine his surprise when he learned this world had magic. The chunibyo in him could not give up on it, and because of his poor grades, his dad had to cut a deal with Mu He, and now he had almost fallen asleep during magic awakening.

"Mo Fan, come on up"

Xue Musheng called Mo Fan to the front of the class as he recalled everything he knew about Mo Fan, a delinquent with poor grades, shoved in at the last moment.

' He wouldn't fail to awaken, would he?'

"Place your hands on the awakening stone and follow my instructions"

Mo Fan quickly did as he told and focused his energy and thoughts into his Mental World. The Spiritual World is the void that appears when one closes their eyes. For ordinary people, it's empty, but the mages draw their power from here, and the goal of the awakening is to manifest that power.

A primary Tier 1 spell needs a Star Path formed by seven Stars of that element to align in a certain way with Spiritual Strength and consume mana stored in these seven Stars (aka Stardust) to release that particular spell.

When a mage breaks through to the intermediate tier, their Stardust becomes a Nebula and houses 49 stars or seven Star Paths, and arranging them forms a Star Chart and so on. Every new realm multiplies the number of stars by seven. Each realm has a minimum of three tiers that a mage must improve their stars to.

As Mo Fan focused, he found a bit of purple light in his Spiritual World, which signified the birth of a new Stardust. Mo Fan quickly concentrated himself as he found seven lone stars in his previously empty Mental World and recalled everything he knew about magic.

Red represents Fire.

Green represents Wind.

Purple represents Lightning.

'Holy shit, I'm rich'

Even as a near illiterate, he knew how rare the Lightning element was at the primary level.

He soon opened his eyes to witness the adulation he would receive, only to find his classroom empty.

'What the, did I transmigrate again?'

Listening to the murmurs of students and teachers, he realised that someone named Xu Zhaoting from the next class also awakened the Lightning element, just as Mo Fan was debating how he would prove his element and stop from being kicked out of school.

Just as Mo Fan was daydreaming, another light seemed to emerge from the awakening stone, forcing him to peer into his Mental World again.

' Red, that means Fire element. I have two elements? Is that even possible'

" Hey, look, it's the fire element"

" He awakened the Fire element?" asked Zhou Min.

" Who was it that said this guy would fail his awakening?"

Xue Musheng was ecstatic that he had another fire element pupil, while Mo Fan was debating whether Dual Elements would get him dissected in a lab somewhere.

He was still unaware of things like Innate Talents, let alone Spirit Seeds. Of course, even if he knew Mo Fan would never reveal all his secrets, even if it meant he'd lose some resources.

Mo Fan quickly sat back down as Xue Musheng began the lecture.

The process of casting spells was three: meditation to nourish his Stars and making the Stardust contain enough mana for casting.

Control, or to forcefully align the seven stars of the element, which were freely orbiting in their area. Right now, Mo Fan's Mental World was only so big that both Fire and Lightning Stardusts were parallel and divided the space in half.

He'd need to train himself to align these stars as needed and then practice the third step, Release.

In the Primary and Intermediate levels, spells can be rigid without the control of an advanced mage; new forms are not possible, let alone new spells, which are the domain of Super mages, but that didn't mean innovation had no place.

There were different ways to release the spells that could determine the result of a battle. This is something that separates mages. As Xue Musheng went on about Magic Casting, Mo Fan noticed another anomaly.
