Chapter 82 - Chapter 82: You Still Have to Pamper Your Own Sword Champion

Almost the moment Wei Qing sensed the Legion's movement—

In Belobog's Silvermane Guard command center, a shrill alarm tore through the air like a blade.

"Report—!!"

A scout nearly tumbled into the command hall, face ashen. His voice cracked as he shouted:

"Outside the walls! A massive Antimatter Legion force has appeared! The number… the number is impossible to estimate—closing fast!"

"What?!" Alisa shot to her feet so hard the tactical map on the table shook. "Confirm it. At a time like this?"

"Confirmed, Supreme Guardian! Their vanguard has already engaged our outer patrols!"

"…Damn it. Of all times!" Alisa's heart sank like a stone. Her fist slammed down on the table. "Where's Supervisor Hans?"

"Hans has been informed—he's on his way. The Corporation's combat-ready staff are also going to maximum alert. All defensive lines have been activated!"

A Luofu representative standing nearby tried to steady the room with a calm voice.

"Supreme Guardian, don't panic. With an attack of this scale, Lady Jingliu will have sensed it. She'll be returning even now. If we hold a little longer…"

Alisa wanted to believe that. She had to.

Belobog's defenses were already stretched beyond reason.

To be blunt, in recent battles, everything Jarilo could still muster amounted to less than what Jingliu could accomplish with a single swing.

They rushed to the city wall.

The moment Alisa saw the black tide on the horizon—dense dots multiplying into an ocean—her throat went dry.

Countless Voidrangers… and more Destruction constructs none of them had ever seen.

A terrifying army with no visible end pressed toward the lone city.

"This scale…" Alisa's voice came out rough. She gripped the frozen stone at the parapet so hard her knuckles whitened. "If Lady Jingliu doesn't return in time, we…"

She didn't finish.

No one needed her to.

The offensive was far beyond any previous record, as though the Legion had decided to stamp Destruction onto Jarilo forever.

But why?

Was a backwater world like Jarilo worth this many troops?

The Luofu representative's face turned grim. He tried to contact Jingliu through a specialized channel—

Only static answered.

This assault didn't feel like the Legion's usual, mindless attraction to a Stellaron.

Jingliu's presence on Jarilo wasn't a secret anymore.

It was entirely possible she had walked into an ambush.

And what kind of ambush could delay her?

He didn't dare follow that thought all the way to its end.

Even now, he had already sent an urgent request for support to the Luofu.

Jarilo meant nothing to the Xianzhou in terms of profit or obligation—

But their Sword Champion was here.

And that meant, like it or not, they would pamper her.

"Lady Jingliu… she won't be in trouble, will she?" someone whispered.

"If even the Sword Champion can't handle this, then we…"

An uneasy tremor rippled through the defenders.

"Enough!" Alisa barked, forcing steel into her voice—though the faint tremble betrayed the panic beneath. "Hold the line! Prepare to receive the enemy! For Belobog!"

Her order went out.

Cannons thundered. Geomarrow-powered beams lanced into the Legion ranks.

But Jarilo's firepower was a candle trying to stop a blizzard.

The vanguard reached the wall. Some climbed. Others slammed their bodies into the massive metal gate in relentless waves.

The Guards fought with everything they had.

Every second, more fell.

"It's not working—there are too many!" a frontline commander screamed over comms. "Supreme Guardian, we can't hold!"

"Send reserves! Now!" Alisa snapped, sweat beading on her forehead.

Hans arrived on the wall in time to watch the defense buckle in real time. His expression darkened.

The Corporation's armed personnel were meant for escort duty and asset protection—not this kind of siege.

At this rate, the fall of Belobog wasn't a possibility.

It was a schedule.

"Supervisor… should we…" a subordinate ventured, voice tight.

The implication was obvious: evacuation.

Hans clenched his jaw. He glanced at Alisa—pale but still standing—and the Guards dying by the gate.

After a long second, he shook his head.

"Hold a little longer. Lady Jingliu may arrive at any moment."

It sounded more like prayer than logic.

But it was true: with an attack of this size, they likely couldn't evacuate even if they wanted to.

Then—

A sudden series of booms rolled across the sky.

Huge shadows fell over the wall.

"What is that?!" someone shouted.

Several colossal shapes drifted forward from behind the Legion's tide.

Even those with only passing knowledge recognized the silhouettes instantly.

Doomsday Beasts.

And not just one.

Five.

A cold, shared certainty spread through every mind on the wall.

It's over.

With Jingliu absent, a single Doomsday Beast could mean extinction.

With five circling overhead—

There was no defense, no miracle, no "holding a little longer."

Then a voice descended, soft and airy, and yet it sliced through the battlefield's roar as if sound itself obeyed it.

"Where is the Sword Champion of the Luofu?"

The words were gentle.

Their meaning was not.

"Why does she still hide?"

The sky seemed to tear.

A figure appeared in front of the five Doomsday Beasts as if she had always been there.

She wore ornate, impossible finery. Her face was too perfect to be human, like a doll carved by a cruel god.

Silver-white hair drifted in the frozen wind.

And around her—

Destruction coiled, heavy enough to suffocate thought.

Hans went bloodless.

He didn't shout the name.

He gasped it.

"An Emanator… Lord Ravager—Xingxiao."

The Corporation had almost no complete file on her.

But every fragment of data came with the same footnote:

A civilization died here.

Her presence meant the Legion's interest in Jarilo was far deeper than anyone had imagined.

And it meant—

Even if Jingliu returned…

It might not matter.

Because this wasn't a battlefield they could win.

This was a battlefield where an Emanator had decided to step onto the stage.
