Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: First Arrival at Kaiba’s House

"Why isn't President Kaiba here yet…?" Isono muttered in the driver's seat, checking his watch anxiously. "The president doesn't care about traffic fines, but it's not good for KaibaCorp's car to stay parked here too long."

Just then, the rear door opened. Isono assumed Kaiba had returned and immediately turned around.

"President Kaiba, you finally—"

He froze mid-sentence.

A silver-haired woman slid into the back seat instead.

"Miss… are you in the wrong car?" Isono asked, still stunned.

Before she could answer, Kaiba's voice cut in.

"She's Kisaragi Aoi—a new employee I personally hired. She'll also be moving into my home. Drive to XX Apartments and help her collect her luggage."

"What—?" Isono's mind went blank. A woman the president personally recruited… and she's moving into the president's house…? That means—

His thoughts immediately veered into dangerous territory.

Kaiba shot him a look.

"What is it?"

"N-Nothing!" Isono snapped back to attention, shivering. "Understood. I'll head to XX Apartments right away and assist Miss Kisaragi."

The president has never shown interest in women… and yet he's this attentive to Miss Kisaragi, Isono complained internally. Has the ancient tree finally bloomed?

They arrived at Kisaragi's apartment. The room was narrow and dim—cramped enough that Kaiba's brow tightened the moment he saw it. Something in the sight tugged at old memories: he and Mokuba had once grown up in places like this.

Kisaragi began folding clothes, but Kaiba stopped her.

"Just take your important documents and valuables. I'll handle the rest."

He turned to Isono.

"Get everything she needs—buy it all and deliver it to my villa. Put the expenses on KaibaCorp's corporate account."

"Yes, sir!" Isono immediately began making calls.

Kisaragi tried to protest. "That's not necessary. These clothes are still wearable, and I haven't even started working yet—I can't let you spend so much on me."

"I said what I said," Kaiba replied flatly. "If a KaibaCorp employee dresses like this, it damages KaibaCorp's image."

"…Fine," Kisaragi conceded.

She packed only her documents and cash, locked the apartment door, and got into Kaiba's car.

He's really serious about her, Isono thought, making a mental note. I'd better warn the rest of KaibaCorp—no one is allowed to offend this woman. Or else…

The car crossed the entirety of Domino City and finally entered a sprawling estate. At its center stood the most eye-catching feature of all:

A towering Blue-Eyes White Dragon statue.

Kisaragi stared at it and muttered, "So the world's number-one Blue-Eyes fanatic really lives up to the reputation."

Kaiba noticed her gaze.

"So you like it too."

"I'm just impressed," Kisaragi said with a small smile. "A statue this massive… you're obsessed with Blue-Eyes."

Kaiba didn't deny it.

"Yes. Blue-Eyes has a special meaning to me. I want everything connected to it. And I don't like anyone else controlling Blue-Eyes in front of me."

Kisaragi's eyes flicked toward him.

"So you don't like me controlling Blue-Eyes either?"

Kaiba shook his head.

"When you control Blue-Eyes White Dragon, I don't feel irritated. On the contrary—it feels natural. As though only you can bring out Blue-Eyes' full power."

His gaze sharpened.

"But I still won't lose to you."

The car stopped at the front of a villa. A small boy ran out the door.

"Brother! You're back—"

Then he saw Kisaragi.

"This is…? Wait—did you get a girlfriend?! But you're not interested in women!"

"Mokuba," Kaiba snapped. "Don't say stupid things."

The boy stiffened, still staring at Kaiba in disbelief.

Kaiba exhaled once, then introduced him properly.

"Sorry. That's my younger brother, Mokuba Kaiba. He didn't mean anything by it."

"It's fine," Kisaragi said easily. "Kids should be lively. Innocent words aren't a crime."

"Her name is Kisaragi Aoi," Kaiba continued. "I hired her personally. She'll be living here."

A new employee? Mokuba thought. Even if my brother values someone, he usually puts them in company housing or a high-end apartment. Why bring her home?

Then Mokuba noticed something else—Kaiba's eyes.

He immediately understood.

"I see… I see!" Mokuba nodded with a grin.

"What exactly do you think you're seeing?" Kaiba's voice dropped.

"N-Nothing," Mokuba said quickly, suddenly guilty. He knew that tone—his brother was already annoyed.

To escape Kaiba's icy stare, Mokuba grabbed Kisaragi's hand.

"Come on, Big Sis Kisaragi! Let's go inside!"

Kisaragi was pulled into an opulent living room, the kind of luxury that made her old apartment feel like a storage closet. Mokuba plopped her down on the sofa and sat right beside her, grinning like a gossip columnist.

"Big Sis Kisaragi—how did you meet my brother?"

"We met through a duel," Kisaragi said. "And we dueled each other too."

"You're a Duelist?! Then who won?" Mokuba leaned in eagerly.

Kisaragi opened her mouth—

Kaiba cut in first.

"I lost. Kisaragi is an excellent Duelist."

Mokuba's jaw dropped. "My brother… lost?!"

In Mokuba's memory, Kaiba excelled at every game. Hearing his brother admit defeat in a duel was practically unbelievable.

"Big Sis Kisaragi, you're amazing!"

Kisaragi shook her head slightly. "Your brother is amazing too. When I dueled him, I could feel his pride as a Duelist."

Kaiba's mouth lifted—just a fraction.

Soon, a group of staff entered the villa, Isono among them.

"President Kaiba," Isono reported, "these are the daily necessities you ordered for Miss Kisaragi. Where should we put them?"

"Place them in the empty room next to mine," Kaiba said. "I already had it prepared."

"Yes, sir!" Isono directed the staff to carry everything upstairs.

Kaiba turned to Kisaragi.

"From today on, you'll live there. Mokuba's room is across from mine. If you need anything or have questions, come to me or Mokuba."

"I… understood," Kisaragi replied softly.

So I'm living right next door to Kaiba… Her thoughts spiraled briefly. Is he going to sneak in at night? No—no way. Kaiba is a blunt, straight-laced guy, and he's not interested in women…

With that, she forced herself to calm down—though her heartbeat didn't entirely agree.
