Kaiba's face tightened the moment he heard it.
"Three thousand years? Kisaragi is Kisaragi! Don't lump her in with that kind of nonsense!" he shouted.
"Three thousand years…" Kisaragi's eyes softened for an instant, as if touched by something distant. Then her gaze hardened again. "Yugi—whether I'm connected to Ancient Egypt or not, the only thing I care about is now."
Isis watched her carefully. "Then it makes sense that Miss Kisaragi can command a God Card. She truly may be tied to the Pharaoh—or a priest from that era."
Her eyes drifted to Kaiba. "Their meeting in this era… may not have been accidental."
Kisaragi turned her attention back to the Duel. "Yugi, your turn isn't over yet."
"Of course not." Yami Yugi's voice sharpened. "This is where I bring out the real ace of my Deck!"
Kisaragi's pupils narrowed.
It's here.That monster.
"This is my final offensive option." Yami Yugi slammed down a Spell. "I activate Magicalized Fusion! I banish Dark Magician and Red-Eyes—"
"Dark Magician and a Dragon-type… Yugi, don't tell me you're summoning that…" Kisaragi blurted, genuine alarm slipping through.
He smirked. "So you know it too."
"Fusion Summon—Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon!" (3000/2500)
The armored dragon-knight descended like a calamity—blade in hand, crimson aura crawling across its frame.
"Yugi… you were hiding that?" Kisaragi's expression turned razor-serious.
Joey gaped. "That's sick… I didn't know he had something like that!"
Mokuba swallowed. "Sister… I've never seen Kisaragi-oneechan look like this. Like she's been pushed to the edge."
Even Kaiba didn't speak. He could feel it—this monster was wrong in the way only truly oppressive cards were.
Yami Yugi stared straight at her. "Kisaragi. I prepared a lot to beat you. This is the final trump card I kept specifically for you."
Kisaragi's eyes cooled.
So you brought out "Red Dad." Fine. Then I won't hold back either.
She spoke calmly instead:
"Yugi, my Continuous Spell The True Sun God—non-Ra Special Summoned monsters can't attack the turn they're summoned. So this turn, Dragoon can't attack."
Yami Yugi didn't flinch.
"Then I'll use its effect. Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon—destroy one monster on your field, and inflict damage equal to that monster's original ATK!"
Kaiba's eyes widened. "It has that effect too?!"
Kisaragi's LP was 1100. The monster on her field was Santa Claws (1200 ATK).
Sugoroku (Duke) grimaced. "If that goes through… Kisaragi loses."
Kisaragi snapped a Trap open. "I activate Hallowed Life Barrier! I discard one card—this turn, all damage I take becomes 0!"
A translucent barrier formed around her.
"Nice!" Mokuba breathed. "She survives!"
Yami Yugi's voice dropped—cold and practiced.
"Then I chain Dragoon's other effect—once per turn, when a card or effect is activated, discard one card: negate the activation and destroy it. Then this card gains 1000 ATK."
He discarded. The barrier shattered like glass.
Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon (4000/2500)
Kaiba's teeth clenched hard enough to hurt. "No… she's not losing like this."
"Dragoon—destroy Santa Claws. Kisaragi takes 1200!"
Dragoon slashed. A black shockwave erased Santa Claws and continued straight into Kisaragi—smoke and debris swallowing her silhouette.
"KISARAGI!!" Kaiba's shout tore out of him. He dropped to one knee.
Yami Yugi stared into the smoke. "…Did I win?"
Then a calm, almost teasing voice drifted out:
"Seto… if you're going to collapse like that, it's embarrassing."
The smoke cleared.
Kisaragi was still standing.
Kisaragi's LP 1100 → 500
Kaiba snapped upright, relief washing his face raw. "Kisaragi… thank god."
Yami Yugi's eyes widened. "How—why didn't your Life Points hit zero?!"
Kisaragi lifted a card, already half-faded into the Graveyard banish glow.
"Damage Diet. While it's in the Graveyard, I can banish it: the effect damage I take becomes half."
Yami Yugi's gaze sharpened. "You discarded it earlier… with Hallowed Life Barrier."
Kisaragi smiled thinly. "Exactly."
She set a card. "End turn." (Hand: 3)
From the sidelines, Duke muttered, tense now. "She lived… but Dragoon's toolkit is insane—pop, burn, negate, and pump ATK…"
Kisaragi didn't look shaken at all. If anything, her eyes burned brighter.
Fighting "Red Dad" up close… this is the fun part.
"My turn. Draw."
The moment she saw the card, her expression flickered—satisfaction.
"Yugi. You really think Dragoon is the key to beating me?"
Yami Yugi felt an involuntary chill. In his mind, Dragoon was "perfect"—the kind of card that shuts down entire games.
Kisaragi slid the card into her Duel Disk.
"This is the key that breaks it."
"I activate Dark Ruler No More!"
A wave of oppressive force washed across the field.
"All face-up monsters you control have their effects negated until the end of this turn."
Yami Yugi immediately answered, reflexive.
"Dragoon effect—discard one card, negate Dark Ruler No More!"
Kisaragi cut him off, eyes like ice.
"Doesn't work. Dark Ruler No More can't be responded to by monster effects. Your Dragoon can't negate it."
Yami Yugi froze for a fraction of a second.
"…So that's your answer."
