The air in the center of the room shudders violently—a jagged zig and zag of light stained with a sickening neon gradient, reality glitching at the seams. The Phantom's form flickers, her face contorting in a silent scream before the image snaps and disappears entirely.
"She must have figured out she couldn't teleport in here without losing a limb or two," Tavric says, his voice carrying a smug satisfaction I find entirely justified.
I smile despite the terror still humming through me. "Amara is good, right?"
He nods, his gaze sweeping over me once before he gestures toward the clothes on the bed. "The best. But she couldn't extend the same level of warding to the rest of the apartment… she has to conserve her strength for the teleportation tomorrow."
I understand the logic. Even so, I don't move to dress.
