Chapter 2 - Day 2

Julian wakes up on the next day. He's very tired from yesterday. He goes outside and sees a few people walking around.

Julian is looking for an old man named Poppy. Poppy is the one who raised him since he was little. Julian walks around the village for a couple of minutes.

He reaches Poppy's house and knocks on the door.

...

No one answers. He knocks on the door again, but louder.

...

No one answers. "He must be at the port," Julian thinks to himself.

He walks to the port and continues down the path. He sees Poppy buying a piece of merchandise from a merchant.

"POPPY!" Julian yells to get his attention.

Poppy looks to his left and sees Julian waving his hand. He slowly walks up the Julian and says in a soft but also in an old voice, "Hey Julian what do ya need."

Julian quickly responds "I need to show you something."

"Ohh, what do ya need to show me. Is it one of those weird inventions ya were making a few weeks ago?" Poppy replies.

"NO, it's something I found in the little opening on the mountain. I went in and found a few things." Julian said with excitement.

"Ohh did you? Let me see these things you have found." the Merchant that was trading with Poppy said.

"Okay sure!!" Julian yelled as he ran back to his house along with the other two. Once they got there, Julian showed them the journal and wings.

"Hey those wings look like the thing you were building a few weeks ago." Poppy said in a surprised manner.

"No, I found them in the opening. I could never build something as amazing as that." Julian said to defend him finding it.

"The only proof you seem to have is this journal. But you still have a lack of evidence." the merchant said.

"Fine then, I'll show you guys. Follow me up the mountain then, and you'll discover what was in there."

"Alright I'll go then, but the old man probably shouldn't since he is an frail duck"

"Alright then, follow me." Julian replied.

The merchant followed Julian as he led them across the bridge and towards the mountain. They started to climb slowly, but after a few hours they decided take a stop at a small ledge.

"Yo, why did you even come up here in the first place to the opening. I know you were probably just curious but with the dangers of falling to your death... why did you do this?" the merchant asked.

Julian, a second later, replied, "To be honest, I... just wanted to know. Not to make myself famous in this village but just for myself. I just wanted to know."

"So you did this for yourself. That's nice" the merchant replied while looking down at the village. "I'm done resting, let's go."

After an hour they finally reached the opening. The merchant, looking around, looks very surprised. He sees a lot of stuff he could sell and gain a fortune.

"Wait!" Julian says with a stern voice. "This wasn't here yesterday." As he points to the sword at the corner of the room.

Julian goes to pick it up. He approaches slowly just in case something is near. He picks it up and sheaths it, with a strong grip and swings down. Frushhh. A giant crescent shaped fire appears going the same direction as Julian swung.

"Wowww, I've never seen any weapon that can do that. To be honest most of the stuff in this room does look magical." the merchant says.

"But the only thing that matters is that this wasn't here yesterday." Julian says with a stare that says he's anxious.

"Well, you've shown me enough proof so let's leave." the merchant says.

Julian attaches the sword to his belt as the two of them start to climb back down, after a few hours they make it back to the bridge. Once they walk across it Julian leads them to Poppy's house.

They give a loud knock. No one answers. They do it again. No one answers.

"YO POPPY WE'RE BACK, JULIAN AND THE OTHER DUDE!" Julian screams.

Still no answer.

"Fine then we'll just break the door open." the merchant says.

Whoosh, the merchant gives a strong kick and the busts the door open. Both of them see a tall, shirtless, muscular man with a one-sided ji halberd. Below him, on the floor is Poppy, with his neck and face covered in blood. And at the door step Poppy's severed arm.

"He talked about the opening and what was in it to the village, so he had to die." the man said.
