Chapter 30 - Chapter 29 — Zenca Forest — Part 7: The Smile

". . . "Woooo, you vibing with this sound?"

"Yes."

The word barely came out of Seraphine's mouth.

"My beautiful hair was my pride. My wife used to praise me, but now she's being annoying—hey, hey!"

"I apologize, but what I did saved you."

Seraphine bowed to Brick's father.

"Because of you, I'll have to wear a wig. But I don't have money to buy one."

Seraphine tried to crawl away. . .

"Like a snake—you're trying to run from me? Look at Seraphine crawling away from me."

Seraphine stopped. . .

"Nice one, Cimento. Finish Seraphine."

Donkey and Cimento celebrated. . .

"Who are you calling a snake?"

From far away, I can hear Seraphine's breathing.

"I think someone's calling me."

"Donkey, don't leave me here alone. Are you my friend or my enemy?"

Donkey went over near Dorian.

"Ha ha ha, Cimento. Who would've thought a man like you—known for long battles against orcs—is babysitting children."

Where do the ogre and Cimento know each other from?

"Let go of my leg, girl. . ."

Lyra was glued to the ogre's leg.

"I'm not letting go."

Lyra held tighter.

"What a coincidence, Zafrom. You're babysitting kids too."

So that's the ogre's name. I thought they didn't have names.

"Me? No. This girl is like a tick. She won't let go."

Zafrom shook his leg, but it didn't help. . .

"You still have those stupid rhymes."

Zafrom stopped right in front of Cimento.

"Your mother didn't complain when I rhymed in her bed. Hold this."

"What?"

Cimento handed his sunglasses to Seraphine to hold.

"At least I don't date that."

Everyone looked at Brick's mother.

"Hold it for me, you clingy girl."

"Seriously, it's really heavy."

The ogre gave his to Lyra.

Those two need to get away from them. . .

"How do we settle this—like the old days?"

"Like the old days. A rap battle."

While they argued, I tried to call Seraphine and Lyra.

"Where do you brats think you're going?"

The ogre locked Lyra with his arm.

"I was going to show this sword to my friends."

"Doesn't look like it."

Lyra was rubbing herself against the sword.

"Seraphine, do you like my sunglasses?"

"I. . . No."

Seraphine blushed and took the sunglasses off her face.

"Brick, come here, my son."

"What do you want?"

Brick came up to his father all happy.

"You know what to do."

Without any explanation, Brick started preparing. . .

"You know that for the battle to happen, we need two groups of two."

"Cimento, what are you doing? I don't want—"

Cimento grabbed Seraphine.

"Bastard. You just made that rule up."

"If you want, I'll join."

Lyra was looking at Zafrom with cat eyes begging for food.

"And you know how to rap?"

"Of course I do."

Zafrom looked Lyra up and down.

"Hey, naked girl, does your friend know how to rap?"

Don't ask me that—ask Lyra. Why do I have to solve everything?

"She—"

"Yes, she does. My goddess knows everything."

Donkey stepped in front and sucked up to Lyra.

"I see. So if Lyra is bad, can I eat you?"

"Kaela, I interrupted you, but go ahead."

I'm not stupid, Donkey. I know what you're doing.

Seeing me silent, Donkey's ears drooped.

"I only said what Dorian asked."

Dorian was distracted with Brick's mother.

"Then I'll believe you, but you already know the consequences."

Poor Dorian. I don't want to be in his shoes.

"Alright, Lyra. I accept."

"Seriously? My master will be happy that I teamed up with a demon and held his sword."

Lyra started pretending to fight with the sword.

"Stop that."

"Crack!"

Lyra cut a tree.

Damn. If I'd gotten Lyra to come over to me with the sword, things would be different.

"Dad, everything is ready."

But how did Brick do that? That kid is a brute.

He built a little wooden stage with leaves.

"Let's decide who starts with rock, paper, scissors."

"No, because last time you cheated."

Zafrom slapped Cimento's hand.

"Then we'll let Lyra and Seraphine decide."

The girls got into position.

"Lyra, if you lose, you know."

"I never lose. I'm capable of cheating to win."

What did Lyra say? I didn't hear right.

"Ready?"

Damn, I can't believe my fate is in the hands of these two idiots.

Their hands came down.

I don't want to see this.

Silence.

"Rock. . . paper. . . scissors."

I opened my eyes.

"You. . ."

Lyra is smiling?
