Sungjae was always know as a perfect student and a perfect child .
Top grades. Polite behavior. Teachers' favorite. Students admired him, and girls followed him everywhere. But Sungjae never cared about popularity. He only cared about one thing doing what he believed was right and what he love to do. Help another out and extrovert child.
Thats when sungjae walking past school hallway he saw gang of kids of 5"grade bully kid as sungjae came near the kid. The boy had messy brown hair, trembling hands,
in his eyes fear and loneliness not understand what is happening wanna run away from all this . sungjae help him out
"That was the first time they met each other sungjae and ethan "
And it was also just the beginning of a memory neither of them would forget… even after they became strangers.
Meeting him again was the last thing ethan expected when he moved to his new apartment bulding
The hallway was quite , filled with the faint sound of rain hitting the window
Ethan adjusted the box in his hands searching for his keys in his pocket
When the door across from him suddenly open .
For a moment ,time felt like it had stopped .
The man standing there look older and taller more handsome but.. those familiar eyes is impossible to forget .
Sungjae.
The name lingered in ethan's mind like a memory he had tired to forget for fiver years.
And the look ,judging by the cold and clueless expression on sungjae face, like we never meet . Our memories were never meant anything to him.
Ethan's fingers tightened around the box he was holding. His throat felt dry, yet his heart was pounding loudly against his chest like many words in his heart that can't be spoken out by him.
He waited.
Maybe Sungjae would recognize him. Maybe he would say his name. Maybe… he would at least show some reaction.
But Sungjae only glanced at him briefly, his expression calm and cold ,unreadable.
"You just moved here?" Sungjae asked politely.
The words felt heavier than Ethan expected more heavier when he was about to speak with him.
That tone… it was distant. Formal. Like they were strangers meeting for the first time.
Ethan swallowed, emotional controlling and forcing himself to stay composed.
"Yeah," he replied quietly.
Sungjae nodded slightly, shifting his keys in his pocket and walking near him.
If you need help with anything, the building manager lives downstairs," he said before walking past him.
Not even a moment of hesitation.
Not even curiosity.
Just simple kindness… the same kindness Sungjae showed everyone.
Ethan stared at his back, memories flashing rapidly through his mind — classroom desks, shared lunches, notebooks filled with neat handwriting, and the warmth of someone standing between him and the world.
"...You really forgot," Ethan whispered under his breath.
Sungjae walked the hallway as fast as possible straight inside elevator closing softly leaving Ethan alone in the silent hallway.
The rain outside grew louder.
As there heart beats get louder.
Ethan slowly looked down at the box in his arms. Inside it, buried under old clothes and books, was a worn-out notebook he had never thrown away.
A notebook Sungjae once gave him in fifth grade.
than let out a bitter laugh.
"Guess I was the only one who remembered."
