Chapter 3 - Summons 2

An Overlord might find themselves in an area overflowing with iron and other raw materials, but completely lacking food — meaning they'd be willing to pay a steep price just to eat. Someone else might be sitting next to a source of clean water but have nothing else to their name. No wood, stone, and metal. Naturally, they'd start selling that water for whatever they could get in return.

The system had barely been running for an hour, and people were already figuring out how to hustle each other. It was almost impressive.

Anyways, Vector closed the chat. He'd seen enough for now.

Instead, he turned his attention back to the Gate of Babylon, reaching into it with a thought. One by one, he pulled out more Rings of Absolute Luck — each one settling onto a different finger with a faint pulse of warmth. But he didn't stop there. He kept searching until he found it — the Ultimate Ring of Absolute Luck. The one-of-a-kind treasure of the Gate of Babylon.

[Ultimate Ring of Absolute Luck] — This ring gives its user Absolute Luck, to the point that things that have an absolutely zero chance of happening become possible. Sitting on a stone holds the chance of finding out said stone is some heaven-defying treasure that has been lost. You control possibility — will it, and the possibility of an enemy having a heart attack skyrockets to 100%. Will it, and the possibility of some powerful treasure that can increase your power falling out of the sky becomes 100%. Once per year, you can use the ability Meta Luck. There, for the next 30 seconds, across all realities, everything bends to favor you on a scale that would look like creation sees you as its long-lost son — it seems to spoil the hell out of you to make up for years of not noticing you.

"Luck is pretty overpowered," Vector said with a sigh, lifting both hands in front of his face. All ten fingers had a ring on them now, each one radiating that same quiet warmth. But why would he stop there? He reached into the treasury again and pulled out the Ultimate Armor of Absolute Luck — a full set, head to toe. He equipped every piece without hesitation, layering luck on top of luck until the very air around him seemed to hum with it.

Fully geared up, Vector turned and walked toward one of the nearby trees. He'd barely glanced at it before, but now that he actually looked — really looked — he realized it wasn't just any tree. The bark had a faint metallic sheen to it, and the fruit hanging from its branches glowed with a soft, warm light. A golden apple tree. His eyebrow rose as he reached up and plucked one of the apples free.

[Mystic Golden Apple] — An apple of the gods. Not all gods are immortal; many feed on these golden apples to increase their lifespan. Every bite from these apples increases one's lifespan and causes one's strength to improve greatly while increasing one's existence. A normal human who eats from this fruit shall instantly reach Level 3, and from there, their level would increase with every fruit eaten.

"Is Level 3 so impressive?" Vector asked no one in particular, turning the apple over in his hand before taking a bite.

The effect was instant.

His body shook — not from pain, but from the sheer force of what was happening inside him. His eyes went wide as he felt his very being shift, like every cell in his body was being pulled apart and rebuilt into something better all at once. His strength didn't just increase — it skyrocketed, blowing straight past Level 0 and slamming into Level 1.

He felt like he could shatter mountains. He felt like he could crush worlds with a flick of his finger. The raw power flooding through him was intoxicating, overwhelming — but he caught himself. It was an illusion. Not the power itself, but the scale of what he thought he could do with it. His body was reacting to the sudden jump, making everything feel far bigger than it actually was.

He finished the rest of the apple quickly, each bite pushing him further. By the time he swallowed the last piece, he'd reached Level 3.

"Why do I feel so powerful while only at Level 3?" Vector said, genuine shock bleeding into his voice. He stared down at his own hands like they belonged to someone else. Was he one of those main characters from those novels — the type who could skip levels and fight people way above their rank? The thought was tempting, but he wasn't about to assume something like that without proof.

Confused, Vector reached into the Gate of Babylon and pulled out a notebook — a thick, leather-bound thing that held detailed information on the level system and what each tier of power actually meant.

At Level 0, one has normal human levels of capability.

At Level 1, one's capability ranges from having the power to fight a bear to strength that can destroy or shatter brick walls. Note that the gap between fighting a bear and destroying a wall is massive, as the power needed between the two feats is many times greater.

At Level 2, one's capability ranges from leveling a small building to leveling a massive skyscraper. Note the gap between destroying a small house and destroying a skyscraper is massive. Picture a building with dozens of floors compared to a single-story house.

At Level 3, one's capability ranges from destroying a small city block to a massive city block. A city block holds many buildings. A small city block only holds smaller structures, but unlike a single skyscraper, they are spread out, making them harder to destroy in one blow. Meanwhile, a massive city block holds far larger buildings compared to a small one; the gap between the two is many times greater.

At Level 4, one can destroy multiple city blocks, all of them massive. It ranges from two city blocks to fifty. And yes, the gap between the two is twenty-five times over.

At Level 5, one can destroy a small city to a massive city. The gap between the two is enormous — spanning hundreds of miles, if not more, in the range of destructive power they can unleash. They are walking nuclear bombs that can't be allowed to fight on land.

At Level 6, one can destroy a mountain. Such beings are monsters who shouldn't be allowed anywhere near civilization. The scale ranges from destroying a small mountain to destroying massive mountains.

At Level 7, one can destroy islands…

The scale of power only kept climbing from there, each level dwarfing the one before it. But Vector closed the notebook without much concern. Interesting as it was, it didn't change much for him.

He had weapons in his treasury capable of destroying universes. Honestly, he was already the most powerful being walking this new world — unless someone else had been smart enough to word their wish in a way that made them equally broken.

Vector naturally expected beings like that to exist. It would be naive to think otherwise. But let's face it — what could they really do to someone like him?

Anyways, before using his five free Copper Gate summons, Vector paused. He had one more thing to take care of first. He reached into the Gate of Babylon again, searching for something specific.

It didn't take long — all he needed was to think of what he wanted, and the treasury filtered through its endless contents on its own, narrowing things down until it found what best suited his needs.

What it returned made him smile.

[Summoning Altering Crystal] — This crystal alters the type of summons one can get, allowing them to summon any type of summon they want going forward. For example, if one wants to only summon primordials, then they can use this, allowing them to summon only primordials going forward. There is no limit to the type of summons; even made-up types of summons, like storybook characters, can be summoned.
