Stephanie's POV
I look at the man, grey hair, a face resembling Cliff but older. He had the strict arrogance of a man who ruled an empire. It didn't take much to guess who he was.
"Why are you here?" Before I could greet him, Cliff wrapped his arm around my shoulder and spoke up.
The man chuckled. "Still an arrogant brat, you are." He pointed his cane at Cliff. "I am here to meet my daughter-in-law." He finally took a look at me; stern black eyes. Suddenly, the air became heavy to breathe. It was as if instinct lowered my gaze. I knew that look; it looked as if I were a pest.
"You have nothing to meet my wife for." Cliff's grip over my shoulder tightened, pulling me into his embrace like a protective figure.
Victor glanced at the maid, signaling her to leave the room. The maid nodded instantly, leaving and closing the door. "Leave the room. Don't forget our deal." The soft, mild tone was long gone. It was strict with no room left to argue.
