Chapter 54 - Chapter 54 Commission

Chapter 54 Commission

"Ding, detected host has captured a Shinny Riolu, reward: 8000 points, Lucario super evolution stone * 1."

After Ash recalled Riolu into its Poké Ball, he received the system's reward notification.

Another super evolution stone.

He wondered if capturing the same type of Pokémon would continue to reward such items. Ash pondered this to himself.

The system's mall wasn't without super evolution stones for purchase, but they were incredibly expensive and could only be bought with points. Ash really didn't want to spend points if he could get them for free.

While Ash was deep in thought, Misty also completed the capture of Cleffa, but her Cleffa didn't like being in its Poké Ball, so Misty could only hold it in her arms.

It's worth mentioning that Cleffa is about the same height as the original Togepi, but Cleffa's weight is twice that of Togepi. However, this 6-pound weight was no problem for Misty, who possessed the physique of a Super Cerulean.

"Ash, Misty, Riolu and Cleffa have just hatched, so we still need to ask Nurse Joy to check them," Brock reminded them at the right time.

Hearing this, Ash nodded in agreement. Although he possessed top-tier Breeder knowledge, he indeed needed a detailed Riolu examination report. After all, with professional data reports, he could better formulate Riolu's training plan.

Just like that, Ash and Misty took their newly acquired Pokémon to find Nurse Joy.

While the three were waiting, a middle-aged man wearing a brown cap and a blue-black jacket approached Ash.

"Young man, I see this Pikachu is very well-trained. May I ask if you are a Pokemon Trainer currently on a journey?" the middle-aged man asked Ash, pointing at Pikachu.

Ash knew that this middle-aged man was actually Sabrina's father and the previous Kinsei Gym Leader. He replied truthfully, "That's right, I am indeed traveling with the goal of participating in the Indigo Plateau Conference."

"Uncle, do you want to battle me?" Ash asked.

To be honest, he really did want to battle an older generation Trainer. Constantly crushing weaker opponents was truly boring. Ash really wanted to see what level he had reached.

The middle-aged man shook his head and said, "Young man, I don't want to battle you. To be frank, I am a Psychic, and I can feel that you have a stronger Psychic power within you than I do, so I want to ask you for a favor."

"Ding, detected that the former Kinsei Gym Leader has issued a request to the host—defeat Sabrina.

Mission Reward: Elite potential Abra 1 (Note: This reward needs to be claimed by the host from the requester), 3000 points, Bent Spoon 1"

Ash was stunned; he hadn't expected the system to have such a function.

He feigned ignorance and asked the middle-aged man, "What is it?"

"I want to ask you to use your Psychic power to thoroughly defeat Sabrina."

"I'm sorry, Psychic power is not a tool for reckless behavior. My power will not harm others unless absolutely necessary. However, Miss Sabrina is the Kinsei Gym Leader, and I will go to challenge the Gym."

If it weren't for the fact that the Aura on this person was 90% similar to Sabrina's, Ash would have suspected Sabrina wasn't her father's child. This uncle could actually ask someone else to beat up his own daughter, which truly opened Ash's eyes.

The middle-aged man thought for a moment, "Pokémon battles are fine too, young man. As long as you can defeat Sabrina, I can give you money, or I can give you rare Pokémon."

"Why? And who exactly are you? Do you have some grudge with Miss Sabrina?" Ash asked, feigning Telekinesis.

"I…" The middle-aged man suddenly became speechless. He really didn't know how to start.

"Uncle, you're not a competitor of the Gym Leader Sabrina, are you? Isn't it too despicable to hire someone to challenge the Gym?" Misty said, her face showing anger.

"I… I am a failed father! Sabrina is my daughter…"

The middle-aged man revealed everything to Ash and the others. It turned out that Sabrina had displayed strong Psychic talent since childhood. As her father, in order to elevate the Gym, he had trained Sabrina in Psychic abilities from a young age with this goal in mind. When he came to his senses, Sabrina's Psychic power had already become too strong for him to contend with, and her personality had completely changed, becoming reclusive and obsessive…

"To put it simply, you instilled your ideals into Sabrina, causing her to develop autism," Ash summarized.

"Autism… perhaps. In any case, I want to ask you to help me. I know I was wrong…"

"This kind of thing isn't as simple as just defeating her. From what you just said, Sabrina still cherishes the Abra you gave her. Perhaps you could find her a more cheerful Pokémon, or encourage her to make friends actively."

In Ash's opinion, solving Sabrina's problem wasn't as simple as a battle; it also required opening Sabrina's heart and letting her freely walk out of her inner dark room. Only then could she truly find salvation.

"I understand." The middle-aged man nodded solemnly.

"Alright, Uncle, I agree to what you just said. I will defeat Sabrina. Also, Lavender Town should have Pokémon that can become friends with Sabrina. Uncle, you might want to check there."

Ash didn't plan to capture the Haunter in Lavender Town. That Haunter was a mischievous one, having played tricks on idiot several times in the original story, and it had no desire to battle.

It didn't like battling, didn't like performing, and had no special skills, only causing trouble and pranking people. Ash truly didn't care for this Haunter, unless it appeared right in front of him immediately.

"Okay." The middle-aged man nodded, then disappeared with a Teleport.

"Teleport? Ash, are you sure that uncle is a real human and not a Pokémon?" Misty looked at Ash in shock.

"He is indeed human." Ash gave a definite reply.

"This is too outrageous, isn't it?"

"Ash, you can't possibly do that too, can you?"

"If it's me, I can do it with Pikachu, but not with you guys. I'm more skilled in Aura and Telekinesis, not the spatial kind like that uncle."

Ash had learned Teleport from Gardevoir, but he hadn't mastered it and could only use it as an emergency escape skill.

After a while longer, Ash and the other two retrieved Riolu and Cleffa from Nurse Joy and planned to head out towards the Gym Leader Sabrina.

"Come play with me!"

As soon as the three stepped out, a voice reached their ears.

"Uh… Ash, Brock, did you hear anything strange?" Misty's facial expression stiffened as she slowly turned to look at Ash.

"I heard a girl's voice. She seems to be asking me to go play with her?" Brock said, sounding unsure.

"That's Sabrina's voice."
