Chapter 58 - Chapter Fifty Seven: The Petition of the Sky

The currents of Balance dissolved slowly, like mist retreating at dawn.

Celestia felt herself lowering back into her body — back into weight, breath, heartbeat.

Lucien was still holding her when her feet touched the floor of the chamber. His arms tightened instinctively, as if the universe had tried to steal her and he had refused.

For a moment, neither spoke.

Then the silver glow returned.

The unicorn had not left.

It stood near the tall windows, moonlight cascading over its luminous form.

"You are not finished," it said gently.

Celestia turned toward it, her light and shadow now resting within her in quiet harmony.

"There is more?"

"There is always more."

Lucien's phoenix stirred beneath his skin, sensing the shift in tone.

The unicorn stepped closer.

"There will come a time," it said carefully, "when Heaven will attempt to judge you again."

Lucien's jaw hardened.

"They won't get close."

The unicorn did not argue.

"They will not come as conquerors. They will come as accusers."

Celestia's eyes narrowed slightly.

"Accusers of what?"

"Of imbalance," the unicorn replied. "Of disruption. Of rebellion."

A slow understanding settled in her chest.

"They will try to paint me as the threat."

"Yes."

The unicorn lowered its head slightly.

"And when that day comes, you will need something."

The air shifted.

Before Celestia, a faint image formed — not solid, but shimmering like memory.

A vast celestial hall.

Columns of light stretching endlessly upward.

A council gathered in radiant armor.

The Celestial Period.

"During the First Age," the unicorn continued, "there was dissent among the Celestials. Not all agreed with the curse placed upon the Phoenix. Not all agreed with dividing Balance."

Celestia's pulse quickened.

"There was a petition."

Lucien straightened slightly.

"A petition?"

"A formal scroll drafted by lower celestial magistrates and scribes. It opposed the High Order's judgment. It recorded the truth."

The unicorn's eyes met Celestia's.

"It was never destroyed."

"Where is it?" she asked.

"In the Archives of Radiant Law. Sealed within the Celestial Period."

Silence settled heavily.

"You want me to go back again," Celestia said quietly.

"Not yet," the unicorn replied. "That scroll will not serve you now. But one day, when Heaven stands before you in false righteousness, you will need proof of their guilt."

Celestia inhaled slowly.

"And how do I return to the past when that day comes?"

The unicorn's horn glowed softly.

"When you are ready," it said, "look into the sky. Do not seek stars. Seek memory. Think of me."

Celestia felt something warm settle in her chest.

"I will find you?" she asked.

The unicorn smiled — not with its mouth, but in the air around it.

"You will not need to find me. I am already with you."

Lucien watched carefully.

"You're leaving."

"Yes."

The unicorn turned its gaze fully to Celestia.

"You are not alone in this war, Daughter of Equilibrium. Even when I am unseen, I walk beside you."

Its form began to dissolve into silver light.

"One more thing," it added softly. "Your father remains hidden for a reason. Trust that."

Celestia's heart gave a small, sharp ache — but she nodded.

The unicorn faded completely.

Only moonlight remained.
