Chapter 171 - One Seventy: The Forgotten Cry

Far beyond the sanctuary… And far beyond the celestial realms… beyond even the edge of creation's remembered light…

something stirred.

The Wounded Realm of Elyrion had not seen dawn in over ten thousand years.

Its skies remained trapped beneath endless ash-colored clouds while broken cities floated silently above poisoned seas. Ancient forests twisted unnaturally across ruined lands, corrupted by primordial scars left behind during the First War.

Everything there felt tired.

Not dead,Worse,Abandoned.

At the center of the ruined realm stood a colossal gate of cracked silver stone.

Ancient celestial runes still glowed faintly across its surface despite the ages.

The Seal of Exile.

The barrier the heavens created when they abandoned Elyrion long ago.

For thousands of years, nothing had touched the gate.

Nothing had changed.

Nothing had answered the silent prayers of the realm's remaining inhabitants.

Until tonight.

A faint pulse of golden light suddenly spread across the ancient seal.

Warm.

Gentle.

Alive.

The cracked gate trembled softly. for the first time in ages, the realm felt the Heart again.

Deep beneath the ruined kingdom of Elyrion, hidden within ancient underground catacombs, a young girl suddenly opened her eyes.

Silver markings glowed faintly beneath her skin while chains of corrupted crystal surrounded the chamber she slept within.

The girl sat upright sharply, breathing unevenly.

She had felt it.

Not the corruption.

Not the endless suffering surrounding her world.

Hope.

Her pale silver eyes widened slowly.

Then softly, almost fearfully, she whispered:

"…Balance?"

Back within the sanctuary, Luke could not sleep.

Again.

The boy sat near his chamber windows wrapped in blankets while Astrael rested quietly beside him. Outside, Luminals drifted peacefully through the sanctuary skies while distant restoration bells echoed softly through the night.

Everything looked peaceful.

But Luke's chest felt strangely heavy.

Like someone far away was crying softly beyond a locked door.

He hated the feeling instantly.

The black cracks along his arm pulsed faintly beneath the bandages.

Astrael glowed gently beside him.

Then Luke heard a voice.

Not aloud but inside the Heart itself.

Weak.

Distant.

Lonely.

"…help…"

Luke froze immediately.

The chamber winds stopped.

The Luminals dimmed uneasily.

The voice came again.

Fainter this time.

"…please…"

Luke's breathing quickened.

Because this did not feel like the Primordials.

This felt small.

Hurting.

Afraid.

Astrael suddenly lifted slightly from the floor on its own.

Golden light spread softly across the room while ancient runes moved slowly along the blade.

Luke stared at it nervously.

"What's happening?"

The sword pulsed once toward the sanctuary horizon.

Toward somewhere impossibly far away.

Then the voice returned again.

Stronger now.

"…can you hear me?"

Luke stood abruptly.

"Yes."

The answer escaped before he could stop himself.

Immediately the chamber exploded with light.

A massive wave of Balance energy burst outward through the sanctuary.

Luminals cried out sharply across the city.

Luke saw her.

A girl trapped within endless darkness.

Silver chains.

Broken ruins.

Ash-filled skies.

Her pale eyes widened in shock as she stared directly at him through the vision.

Because somehow…

she could see him too.

The connection shattered violently.

Luke stumbled backward as the chamber doors burst open instantly.

Lucien entered first surrounded by infernal flames while the Father of All and Aurelion appeared moments behind him.

"Luke!"

Lucien stopped sharply after seeing:

Balance energy flooding the chamber,

Astrael floating midair,

and Luke staring toward the darkness beyond the windows in shock.

Lucien immediately moved closer.

"What happened?"

Luke looked toward them slowly.

There was fear in his eyes now.

But also something else.

Heartbreak.

"I heard someone."

The chamber became silent immediately.

The Father of All's expression darkened.

Luke swallowed hard.

"She was trapped."

Aurelion's ancient eyes narrowed sharply.

"Describe her."

Luke hesitated briefly before answering softly:

"Silver eyes."

The ancient dragon froze completely.

Luke continued shakily.

"She was chained inside a ruined realm."

The sanctuary winds grew colder.

"And she…"

His voice lowered painfully.

"…she asked for help."

Silence crushed the room afterward.

Then slowly, very slowly, Aurelion lowered its massive head.

Not in surprise.

Recognition.

The ancient dragon's voice became almost a whisper.

"…Impossible."

Lucien narrowed his eyes immediately.

"What?"

Aurelion looked toward Luke with something dangerously close to shock.

Then softly spoke words that changed everything again.

"ONE OF THE CHILDREN SURVIVED."
