Chapter 1 - Hunter

The snowy forest is calm, all too calm it feels. A tall man wanders the area with his sword resting on his shoulder. His black cloak that keeps him warm also covers up his heavily damaged armor.

His footsteps leave traces in the snow. The moonlight shines through the trees, illuminating his footprints.

He continues to walk until he finds something, a sign of something. Animal footprints, that of a reindeer.

He follows the track of footprints until they slowly grow harder to track. The path eventually goes cold, with no other traces of the reindeer.

A noise then is heard.

The man pauses as he turns his head. A rustling from the bushes.

Then, the snapping of a branch.

He pauses and spots the animal a few meters away.

He slowly takes his stance with his greatsword and prepares to strike.

He appears in from of the deer faster than it could possibly react. He quickly stabs its throat as it struggles against him, yet he stays put.

The deer passes as the man removes his sword from its throat and lugs it on his shoulder. He carries it to an open area where the moon shines enough to illuminate the area.

He lays the animal on the snow and heads out to gather sticks. A few minutes later, he returns and places down the sticks. He reaches into his pouch and pulls out a flint and steel.

He strikes the two together, igniting a flame. He then turns to the animal's corpse and gets up.

The man hears a loud noise, a roar. He looks skyward to spot a rather large wyvern flying towards him. It lands next to him.

The man tenses up as he falls back. The wyvern gives him a glance before sniffing the air. It turns its attention towards the corpse of the reindeer before picking it up with its mouth and flying off.

He quickly picks himself up as well as his sword before removing his cloak and leaping high enough to reach the beast's tail. He grips onto it as he climbs towards the base of its tail.

He thrusts his sword deep into the beast's hide and flesh as it roars in pain, dropping the deer's corpse.

The man climbs on its back and stabs it. The wyvern makes an attempt to shake him off, causing him to lose his grip and nearly fall off. He grabs it by the end of its tail and climbs back up to it's base.

He thrusts his sword back into the already open wound , attempting to sever it's tail.

The wyvern makes yet another attempt to shake the man off yet slowly begins to descend.

The gradual descent turns into a hard crash as they come down hard onto the ground in the snowy plains near the forest.

The man tumbles but flips himself back onto his feet. He looks at his hands to find his sword missing.

The enraged beast charges at him aggressively. The man reacts in time and puts his arms out and manages to stop the charging beast.

The beast continues to push but the man stands his ground. He pushes back and slowly drives the wyvern back.

The man finds an opening as he then lets the beast go for a split second.

With one swift move, the man delivers a devastating blow to its jaw, driving the beast back. He dives to the ground to retrieve his sword.

He flips back onto his feet and takes a stance once more with his sword.

The wyvern comes back to its senses as brings its head back. The man quickly recognizes it yet he stays there.

The wyvern unleashes a wave of frost breath as the man stays put. At the last second, he makes a dash towards his right as fast as possible, appearing directly in front of the beasts mouth.

He raises his greatsword and pierces it's eye. It roars loud enough for the entire forest to hear as it stumbles back.

The man jumps at its eye and pulls out his sword. He mounts the injured beast and delivers blow after blow to it's head. Eventually, its injured eye opened, allowing for the man to continue to pierce through it.

He shoves the blade deeper and deeper into its eye as it roars in agony.

Eventually, the beasts's legs had given out. It falls onto the snow, bleeding from it's now missing eye.

The man pulls his sword from it's eye as he wipes the blood off of it.

He stabs it's already bloody tail, opening the wound further and further until he pries it off with his bare hands. He takes the tail as meat and carries it over his shoulder as he walks back to his campfire.

When he arrives back at the fire, he carries the deer carcass that had been dropped, leaving a bloody trail on the snow.

He skins the tail of the wyvern as he then cuts it up. He places the pieces of the meat on a stick he had found earlier. As the meat cooks, he hears the noise of a branch snap.

He puts his guard up as the meat cooks.

"Excuse me!"

The man turns his head in recognition to see another man standing in the near distance with similar features, dark brown hair and tan skin.

"Yeah you! Mind telling me where the nearest village is?"

The man squinted, making sure that his is seeing him correctly.

"I will, as long as you tell me who you are!"

"You know your voice sounds like my brother's."

"And yours sounds like mine."

They make eye contact with each other for a few seconds.

"Wait! Roman!"

"Yeah, it's me."
