Chapter 20 - Snake’s Lair

Jujutsu Headquarters

In the room, six sliding doors were in a circle. Behind them, the higher-ups of jujutsu were discussing what to do with a certain pink-haired teen.

"From what I've been told, the one with Sukuna's features is strong enough to be a grade one sorcerer," a calm voice said with interest behind the sliding door.

"His growth is incredibly astounding, and his cursed technique is deadly," a cold voice added.

"We should start using him," an arrogant voice said with confidence.

"I told you he was a monster! Why didn't you execute him!" an angry voice yelled.

"I agree, a grade one sorcerer is rare and it's an extremely valuable asset," a deep voice said seriously.

"I agree," a commanding voice said calmly.

The angry voice grunted, but an idea formed in his head. "If we let him become a sorcerer, then I want to assign his first mission," the angry voice said, unusually calm.

"Ok, it doesn't matter after all," the arrogant one said with a little laugh.

"So if we all agree, we will give him the rank of grade one sorcerer and he will be deployed instantly," the commanding voice said.

"Agreed," all the voices in the room replied.

"Very well, Saburo, you will decide his first mission," the commanding voice said.

"Perfect," the angry voice, now known as Saburo, replied with a little laugh.

The next day

Noroi's POV

I woke up a bit drowsy, the events of yesterday still on my mind.

"I almost kissed her…" I muttered while sitting up in my bed.

I smiled slightly and, in a good mood, I stood up to dress.

But as I stood up, a ring on the phone interrupted what I was going to do.

As I looked at the phone, I saw Yaga calling me.

Surprised, I took the phone and answered the call.

"Yaga-sensei?" I asked, confused. "Why are you calling me so early in the morning?"

"Noroi, I have news for you," he said seriously. "The higher-ups decided to make you an official sorcerer."

"What?" I said, confused. "But I'm still fourteen. I didn't even finish my final year at a non-sorcerer high school." I expected to become an official sorcerer when I became fifteen and entered Jujutsu High.

"It was as unexpected to you as it was to me," he said softly. "But as they sent me your ID, a mission was issued to you instantly," he said worried.

"A mission? So early?" I asked, confused.

"Yeah… Noroi, the mission… You are being deployed to exorcise a special grade curse. Alone," he said with worry.

"…." I stood in my room looking at my phone in stupor. "For real?" I said, shocked.

"Yeah," he replied softly. "I need you to come here so I can give you the details of the mission."

"…Okay, I'm coming," I said, hanging up.

I looked at myself in the mirror and, with a sigh, I started dressing up.

"They want to dispose of me? I don't understand why spare me just to send me on a suicidal mission when I grow up," I muttered while dressing up.

After dressing up, I opened the door to find Tsumiki preparing breakfast and Megumi sitting on the couch.

"Good morning, Noroi," Tsumiki said with a smile.

"Morning," Megumi said without looking at me.

"Good morning," I said.

Looking at the two of them, I approached the kitchen and looked at Tsumiki. She was so beautiful. She noticed my stare and turned with a small blush.

"Noroi?" she asked, her cheeks tinted red and a confused expression on her face.

"Tsumiki…" I said, looking at her. "I…" Still thinking about the mission, I looked at her, engraving her features into my mind. "I have to go. Gojo called me again to do something."

"Again?" she said with worry. "But you already skipped school yesterday."

"Yeah," I said, looking at her with a smile. "Goodbye," I said like it was the last thing I would say to her.

"But you didn't have breakfast yet," she said, looking at me with worry.

"I'm in a bit of a rush," I said before turning to see Megumi, who was looking at me strangely.

"Megumi, I need to talk to you," I said with a smile.

Megumi looked at me strangely before standing up and approaching me.

"I'll come back, don't worry," I said to Tsumiki before signaling Megumi to go outside to talk.

"Okay…" she said, looking at me with worry.

As I opened the entrance, Megumi followed me.

"What's happening?" he said, looking at me seriously.

As I closed the door behind me, I looked at him seriously.

"Megumi, they appointed me as an official sorcerer."

"What?" he said, confused. "But you are still fourteen."

"Yeah, and I'm going on a mission and maybe I'll die, so I'm gonna ask you to do some things if I die," I said, looking at him seriously.

"Die? What are you talking about?" he said with a serious face.

"If I die, please be nice to your sister and don't make her worry," I said softly, ignoring him. "And become a powerful sorcerer for me, would ya?" I said with a smile before turning to leave.

"Wait," he said, looking at me seriously. "Survive."

He said it before opening the door to enter the apartment.

"I will," I said with a smile.

As I left the building, I took my phone and called Kenji so he could come pick me up.

In less than five minutes he arrived. I greeted him and entered the car.

While driving, I started thinking about the mission. I was feeling a lot of emotions right now—fear, despair, anger—but one emotion overshadowed them.

Excitement.

My body was begging for a fight. A fight that could kill me made my blood boil with excitement.

I arrived at Jujutsu High. At the entrance, four students I knew well were there. As I left the car, I looked at them.

"Noroi?" Yuuta said, looking at me confused. "Are you here to train?"

"Not this time," I said with a smile, looking at them. "I've been appointed as an official sorcerer."

"I guess it's normal considering you already did a mission with Toge and Yuuta," Panda said, smiling at me.

"Salmon," Inumaki said, nodding.

"What grade are you?" Maki asked with curiosity.

"Well… I don't know. I forgot to ask Yaga," I said, scratching my head.

She looked at me deadpan.

"Well, you came to join our class?" Yuuta asked with curiosity.

"No. I came because of a mission," I said, looking at him.

"Oh, okay," he said, looking at me.

Yaga appeared walking towards me with a serious face.

"Noroi, come with me," he said seriously without glancing at the students.

"Okay," I said before waving at the four students while following Yaga.

They stood there confused.

"How strange… normally Yaga greets us," Panda said confused.

"Yeah…" Maki said seriously.

As we started walking through Jujutsu High, Yaga looked at me.

"Noroi, there are sixteen Special Grade curses registered right now, and you will be deployed to exorcise one of them," he said seriously. "The name of the curse is Shinko no Orochi. It was born from the human fear of snakes; its body is, as you would imagine, covered with red scales that protect its skin. Its length reaches twenty meters, and it has a mouth filled with venomous fangs. We don't have information about its Cursed Technique."

"I see…" I said, looking at Yaga. "Well, I'm off to the mission."

"Noroi. Get back alive," he said, looking at me with worry. "A car is waiting for you at the entrance."

"Okay," I replied with a smile. "See you later," I said as I turned to leave.

As I walked towards the entrance, I saw the car waiting for me. Entering the vehicle, I noticed that the driver was the same guy who had put up the veil yesterday.

"Good morning. We will now go to the location of the curse; it's located on Mount Takao, a forested mountain outside Tokyo," he said seriously while driving. "It will only take an hour to get there."

As he drove, I started thinking of a strategy to kill the snake.

'His scales should be tougher than steel and his cursed energy should be immense. If I hit him with a few Cleaves, I should deal significant damage, but I don't know his Cursed Technique, so I need to be careful before approaching.' After an hour of wondering about its technique and the way to defeat it, I noticed we had arrived at the location.

"This is it," Ijichi said, stopping on the road in front of the forest. We left the car and he turned towards me. "I will now put up the Veil. I wish you the best of luck," he said before starting to chant.

As I watched the Veil forming, I entered the forest at a slow pace. I noticed the thick vegetation and a sense of something lurking between the leafy trees. I looked around carefully, my senses warning me with every step I took. The forest was silent; not a single sound could be heard.

Suddenly, my senses flared with danger and I jumped into the air. A big crimson snake pounced where I had just been standing, its massive mouth open. Its eyes were yellow with slit pupils, and its body was covered in crimson scales. When it struck, multiple trees went flying through the air.

As it noticed it hadn't caught its prey, it looked at me. As it was about to pounce again, I made a hand gesture and chanted.

"Kai (Dismantle)."

As a slash landed on its head, the beast shrugged it off and went for another strike, its mouth open with the intent to swallow me whole. I looked at the snake with a small smile and pointed my hand at it; a web of Dismantles was launched.

This time, the snake roared in pain as the Dismantles hit, pushing it to the ground. Multiple trees were crushed by its weight. I let myself free-fall towards it. The snake noticed me and used its tail to try and hit me. I looked at the tail coming toward me and, with a smile, I let it hit me, launching me through the air where I crashed against several trees.

I stopped myself by stomping my feet into the ground, blood falling from my lip. Before I could think, the snake pounced again, destroying everything in its path. With a smile, I waited until it was close and jumped onto its head.

The snake started writhing, trying to shake me off. I put a hand on its head and chanted:

"Hachi/Kumo no Ito (Cleave/Spiderweb)," I said, grinning as cuts in the form of a spiderweb sliced through the scales of the snake's head, blood dripping from the wounds.

The snake roared in pain, but its writhing stopped. As I was about to launch another Cleave, a strange, twisted, bloody face suddenly started forming on its body. The face—still connected to the snake—lunged towards me with a shriek. It hit me, and I crashed against a few trees before stopping. The face sank its teeth into my chest.

I grunted before cutting the face in half with a Dismantle. As I looked back at the snake, multiple faces formed on its body and lunged towards me.

"Come at me!" I yelled excitedly as I rushed towards it.

The faces shrieked and approached, but before they could make contact, I cut them in half. As I drew near, the snake roared in anger and pounced at me, the multiple faces following its lead. I jumped toward its head again, cutting down the faces that approached, but as I was about to land, it hit me with its tail, sending me flying through the forest.

"You smart bastard," I muttered, landing on the ground.

The snake looked at me, the faces staying around it, shouting shrieks of pain and agony. With a smile, I rushed it. It looked at me with anger and sent its faces forward. I cut them down, but this time I didn't jump for the head immediately. I used the faces as platforms to boost me upward. When the tail tried swatting me, I dodged and landed on its head. Instead of using my hand, I rushed to where its eyes were and grabbed them with two of my hands. As the snake roared in pain, multiple faces tried attacking me, but I cut them off.

I gouged the eyes of the snake out and tossed them aside. Purple blood started spraying from the wounds and it started whimpering. It tried hitting me with its tail, but I dodged at the last second, causing it to hit itself.

As I landed on the ground, I noticed that it had started regenerating its eyes, so I rushed toward it again. But before I could do anything, the snake roared angrily. This time was different; it was like a call for help.

As I was about to jump, a tremor came from the ground. I looked around in alert and noticed a faint hissing that was growing louder. From the bushes, a sea of little red snakes started swarming towards me.

"What?!" I said, surprised. This snake was a female, and she had laid eggs.

As the snakes spread through the ground, I jumped back onto the big snake. The faces pursued me, but I cut them down. When I landed, I put a hand onto the snake's head.

"Hachi (Cleave)."

This time my Cleave was focused on one spot, trying to cut through to its brain. The slashes hit a single point, breaking the scales, but they did not reach the brain.

"Fuck," I said as all the little snakes crawled toward me through their mother's mouth.

As I jumped up, the snake—with one eye already regenerated—pounced instantly, trying to swallow me.

"Shi—"

I didn't have time to react. Before I could say anything, it clamped its jaws shut, swallowing me whole and ripping off one of my arms in the process. The snake let out a victorious roar and pulled all the faces back into its body. The little snakes feasted on the arm that had fallen, and the mother snake looked at them proudly.

But as it was about to leave, a sudden pain interrupted it. The snake let out a shriek of agony and started whirling around, accidentally killing several of its own young.

"Ryurin (Scale of the Dragon)."

The snake let out another roar of pain and started rolling on the ground.

"Hanpatsu (Recoil)."

The snake crushed the rest of its hatchlings while rolling in agony.

"Tsugai no Ryusei (Twin Meteors)."

The snake's eyes were filled with pain as it whimpered.

"Kai (Dismantle)." Suddenly, the snake's body was cut in half. A torrent of purple blood erupted from the severed torso. The snake let out a few final roars of pain before it stopped moving.

"I fucking hate snakes," I said, clutching the shoulder of my missing arm. The area was turning purple from the venom, and I was covered in gastric fluid.

The Veil fell. After taking a final glance at the disintegrating body of the snake, I turned and headed back toward Ijichi.

"Fuck those higher-ups! I am not fucking dead!" I shouted with a smile, gasping from exhaustion.

But as I continued walking, my vision blurred and I started losing my balance.

"The venom…" I whispered before collapsing unconscious onto the ground.

Someone approached the unconscious body and struggled to pick it up.

"I didn't expect him to come out of this alive," Ijichi said with surprise, carrying the heavy body of the four-armed giant with difficulty. "I need to get him to Shoko," he said with determination as he saw the car on the road.

Reaching the vehicle, he opened the door and placed the teen inside. He got into the driver's seat and started flooring it.

"Come on, Ijichi, you have to rush," he muttered nervously to himself.
