Chapter 38 - NFS

Putting the last fork full of food in his mouth Silas leaned back in his chair and sighed.

"Are you full?" Alice asked as she saw his movements.

Silas nodded.

"Yeah… I'm so full I feel like any sudden movement might cause me to puke."

Alice chuckled.

A few of the Cullens had left, Edward left first, then Rosalie, Jasper and Ella left after that, and lastly Carlisle left, the others, Esme, Emmett and Alice stayed.

Emmett was just waiting for him to finish eating so they could play NFS.

Throughout the entire meal, no, even now Alice's foot was still between his legs, or calves. However you want to say it.

Sometimes when she spoke she would be moving her foot up and down, causing it to rub against him. Very intimate.

Sigh. Have I put myself in a jam with this?

Esme stood up.

"I have to say, I'm really happy you enjoyed the food so much."

Silas smiled.

"Hehe, well you've earned it, the food was amazing."

Emse smiled.

"Why don't you three go and do something and I will clean up?"

Silas was about to say something when Emmett and Alice spoke.

"Sure sounds like a good idea." They both said in unison, then when they realised they stared at each other.

"Let's go play some NFS, brother." Emmett said as he stood up, he patted Silas on the shoulder.

Silas nodded and stood up.

Alice saw this and frowned. What a horrible brother. She followed them as they walked out the dining room.

Walking down the corridor they soon arrived at a more secluded part of the house.

Emmett walked up to a door far away from the others, opening it he walked in, Silas peeked in and was shocked.

A man cave?

The room was dimly lit, thick drapes were drawn across the tall windows blocking the sunlight.

A massive TV hung on the wall, on a tv stand below stood a sleek PS2.

A plush leather couch faced the TV on the wall. The cushions were those deep ones, the ones you can really sink into.

A coffee table stood in front, and on top of it were two PS2 controllers.

The walls displayed framed posters of various video games. And to the right was a wooden bookcase showcasing an impressive library of PS2 and PS1 games.

Emmett took a few steps and turned around dramatically and said.

"Welcome to my man cave, brother."

Silas was speechless. It really was a man cave.

Alice who was right behind had her hand on her forehead. I knew Silas wouldn't like it.

Just then an exclamation rang out.

"Wow! Emmett, you've really surprised me this time." Silas said as he walked in.

"This is a really cool man cave, do you watch movies here as well?"

Emmett smiled, my brother from another mother.

"Well, sometimes, but usually I watch movies with the family in the living room, family activities and all."

Silas nodded.

He walked over to the games collection.

Whistle~

"Impressive collection, I have to say."

Emmett looked proud.

"Right, many are limited edition."

Seeing the excited banter between them Alice was speechless. I didn't know you had this side, Silas.

But… it just made her more excited. The more she finds out about Silas the better he becomes.

She had a smile on her lips as he watched them picking out games.

"I wanted to play Need for Speed Underground 2, with you."

"Yeah, it's good… but don't you think this Mortal Kombat Deception is a little cooler?"

Emmett looked conflicted.

Just then Alice bounced over, a smile was perched on her lips.

"Why don't you play both?"

Emmett and Silas looked at each other and smiled, then turned to Alice.

"Good idea." 2x

They walked over to the couch each with a game in hand, just then Alice realized she had messed up.

Damn! I didn't want them to play. Stupid, stupid.

Alice walked over dejectedly and sat down to Silas's right.

On Silas's left was Emmett, he was setting up the controllers and starting the game.

As Emmett was the host, they started with NFS.

Because Silas didn't have a profile and the other Cullens profiles in the game was… kinda ass.

Silas had to use a little trick.

It was to make a separate profile, go into career mode, win the early races, unlock tuning shops, get the performance parts, then buy a Nissan 240SX, and install all the performance parts on that one.

It's… quite OP.

Since multiplayer does a terrible job of balancing cars, a full upgraded early car could beat most default multiplayer cars.

Alice was sitting there looking at them discussing the game as if it was life or death rocket science.

Sigh. I don't understand, Alice glanced at Silas's happy side profile and unconsciously smiled.

"Are you ready for the race?" Emmett asked with a provocative smile on his face.

"Hehe, yeah."

Emmett smiled.

"What race do you wanna do first? Circuit? Sprint?"

Silas looked thoughtful.

"Let's warm up with circuit."

Emmett nodded.

"Good idea."

Then Emmett laughed.

"Don't be too sad later when I win."

Silas leaned back and looked at him with a raised brow.

"You win? Hehe, I should be saying that."

Emmett scoffed.

"You don't know how many hours I got on this game."

Silas chuckled.

"That's nothing to brag about, it will just make it more sad, when you lose."

Alice chuckled at their banter.

"Alright, play, I'm bored out of my mind watching you provoke each other."

Emmett and Silas looked at Alice then towards each other, then nodded.

"Let's go." 2x

They started the race.

Damn this closeted nerd is good. Silas glanced over at Emmett. He was barely keeping the lead.

Silas started at the screen as Emmett was right behind him.

Emmett glanced at Silas. Wow! My good brother is skilled. Worthy of being my good brother.

He nodded in recognition.

After some time they had played a few races. Silas has won four out of five races.

"Damn! How are you this good!? How much do you play!?" Emmett exclaimed watching Silas win again, powerless to resist.

"Hehe, my fingers just got great dexterity." Silas said as he raised his hand and fluttered his fingers in the air.

Alice on his right, glanced at his face then his fingers fluttering in the air.

She couldn't help lowering her head in embarrassment. How ambiguous. If she could blush she would.

Emmett looked at Silas's hand and frowned. A worthy opponent.

The only one with a dirty mind in the room was Alice. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Alice felt even more embarrassed seeing that neither of them caught the ambiguity in the words.

Emmett didn't want to go out a loser.

"Let's switch to Mortal Kombat and see if it was just beginner's luck."

Silas was about to nod when the door opened.

Esme was standing there.

"Hello, are you having fun?"

Everyone looked at her and nodded in unison.

Esme smiled, she wanted to laugh but held it back.

"It's getting late."

Silas took out his phone and saw that it was some time after eleven.

Silas knew Esme's concerns.

"Yeah, it's getting late, maybe I should head home, we can continue this some other day."

Emmett, who had also checked the time, nodded.

"Yeah."

Alice had been quiet. She was reluctant, but she understood, Silas was human and needed sleep. It wasn't good if he slept here.

"Let me lead you out." Alice said.

Silas nodded and stood up.

Emmett stretched then said.

"Silas, let's continue this next weekend, okay, let's decide on that."

Silas turned around.

"Sounds good."

Esme seeing this scene had a smile on her lips.

"I will make some good food, as well."

Silas who heard that looked at her with a smile.

"Sounds even better, but… don't make that much, I really can eat it all."

Esme chuckled.

"I will try, I just got so excited."

Silas nodded.

They headed down the corridor and soon arrived at some stairs.

Esme was in front, then Silas and behind him was Alice.

Soon they arrived at the door. Silas looked around to find his shoes.

Alice had dragged him in later and he had thrown his shoes off in a hurry, not seeing where they went.

"There." Alice said, and pointed behind him.

Silas turned around. And true to her words, there were his shoes.

"Thanks."

Alice smiled.

"No problem."

Silas put on his shoes and stretched. Sitting on that couch was comfortable, nearly too comfortable.

Alice took a step forward and smiled teasingly.

"Will you find your way home?"

Silas looked at her, and their eyes met.

"Yeah, as long as I get out of this gravel road, it's the same road I take home, just a little further."

Alice raised an eyebrow and nodded. Hiding her loss of composure.

Esme, who was standing in the background, was forgotten, but she had a motherly smile on her face.

"I will call you later." Alice said as Silas was about to turn around and leave.

"To make sure you make it home." She added.

Silas smiled.

"Alright, not too late tho, I might be asleep."

Alice nodded.

Just when Silas was about to turn around, Alice took a step forward.

"Wait!"

Silas raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah?"

Alice locking eyes with Silas lost her courage and stepped back.

"No nothing, I was just going to ask if you had a jacket?"

Silas narrowed his eyes in suspicion.

"No, I didn't bring one."

Alice nodded. Of course she knew that.

Esme in the background smiled. She knew her daughter's ideas. She had wanted to hug him, but she's also a little unsure where they stand.

Silas turned around and said goodbye.

"See you on Monday."

Alice smiled.

"Yeah, I will call later."

Silas smiled as he entered his car.

Alice standing at the door watched Silas drive away, a slight feeling of emptiness spread from her chest to the rest of her body, it made her clench her teeth lightly and pout.

Esme shook her head and walked up stairs.

"Alice, come I need to talk to you."

Alice snapped out of her thought and nodded, then turned around and followed Esme upstairs.

...

Hope you enjoyed :)
