Chapter 5 - A Daughter's Silent Love ❤️

One morning, I was busy finishing my daily household chores when Rim came quietly and stood beside me.

"Mom, can I tell you something?" she asked softly.

Without looking up from my work, I replied casually, "Yes, dear… tell me."

After a small pause, she said, "Mom, can we go shopping today?"

I looked at her then and smiled. "Oh! Your exams are finally over, so you want to go out somewhere… right?"

She nodded eagerly. "Yes, Mom. I really want to go shopping today."

"Alright," I said warmly. "Let me finish my work first. In the evening, we'll definitely go."

She hesitated for a moment and added,

"Mom, one more thing… today I want to spend the money Grandma gave me on my birthday instead of my monthly allowance."

"That's wonderful!" I replied with a smile.

Satisfied, Rim nodded happily and walked away.

By evening, dusk had gently settled across the sky. As planned, we got ready and left for the market together.

While walking beside her, I asked, "So tell me, what are you planning to buy today?"

Rim gave me a calm, mysterious smile.

"We'll see, Mom."

That familiar suspicious smile again.

Soon we entered a shop. I naturally assumed she would rush toward the clothing section — after all, teenagers usually look for tops, jeans, or dresses first.

But to my surprise, she walked straight toward the bags and purses section.

Confused, I asked, "Rim, don't you want to buy clothes? I thought you would choose something for yourself with Grandma's money."

She smiled gently. "No, Mom. Today I want to buy a ladies' purse."

"Oh! A new favorite, I guess," I joked.

She only smiled in response.

While checking the collection, Rim picked up a purse and showed it to me.

"Mom, how is this one?"

"It's beautiful," I replied. "It will suit you perfectly."

She looked at me and said quietly, "You can also use it whenever you want."

I laughed softly. "No dear, it's perfect for someone your age, not mine."

The smile on her face faded slightly. A hint of disappointment crossed her eyes —

something I noticed but didn't fully understand then.

She quietly placed it back and began searching again.

After a while, she chose another purse — simple, elegant, and sober.

"Now tell me honestly, Mom… how is this one?"

"It's very beautiful," I said sincerely.

"Do you really like it?" she asked again.

"Yes, of course."

Without another word, she decided on that purse. We bought it along with a birthday gift for one of her friends' parties the next day.

The following evening, while Rim was getting ready for the party, I reminded her,

"Take your new purse today."

She replied casually, "Not today, Mom. I'll use it some other day."

Her answer annoyed me slightly. "Then why did you buy it yesterday if you don't want to use it now?"

She remained silent.

Though irritated, I said nothing more.

She left for the party, and the matter slipped away into the routine of the day.

The next morning brought an unusual surprise.

I was busy again with my chores when Rim suddenly appeared — already awake without me calling her, which almost never happened.

Before I could ask anything, she grabbed my hand excitedly.

"Mom, come… come with me!"

"Rim! What are you doing? I have so much work!" I protested.

But she wouldn't listen. She pulled me to the sofa and made me sit down.

"Please close your eyes for a moment, Mom."

Though impatient, I followed her request. A few seconds later, I felt something placed gently into my hands.

"Now open your eyes."

As soon as I did, Rim hugged me tightly and said,

"Happy Birthday, Mom!"

My heart melted instantly. It was the first wish of my special day.

In my hands was a neatly wrapped gift.

"What is this?" I asked curiously.

"Open it," she said with shining eyes.

I unwrapped it slowly — and froze.

It was the same purse she had bought the previous day.

Before I could speak, Rim said softly,

"Mom… actually, I bought it for you. I know purses are one of your favorite things. I wanted to give you something special on your birthday."

"But dear," I said emotionally, "Grandma gave you that money for yourself. Why did you spend it on me?"

She smiled sweetly.

"Grandma told me I could buy whatever I wanted. And right now… I didn't need anything for myself. I only wanted to buy something for you. Please accept it, Mom. It will make me very happy."

Tears filled my eyes as I kissed her cheek.

"This is the best gift I have ever received," I whispered. "Thank you, my love."

At that moment, I realized something deeply moving — my little Rim was no longer a child.

She was growing into a thoughtful, compassionate young girl who understood love beyond words.

And once again, she surprised me… not with a gift, but with the beauty of her heart.
