Chapter 1 - Installing Chatbot

"Congratulations sir! AI Chatbot Jarvis microchip has been installed!" announced the female agent with a pleasing smile.

Simon rubbed the back of his neck where the microchip had been installed. He felt a twinge of pain from it but it was bearable.

In the year 2040, the largest AI company, Jarvis, has launched a new product of AI microchip where users can access Jarvis's largest data network directly through neural interface.

Unlike earlier wearable devices or handheld terminals, the microchip connected straight to the user's nervous system. You don't need screens or keyboards, thought is only needed.

What's more, it was a distributed intelligence trained on decades of global data—economic models, engineering databases, medical journals, trade records, military logistics, agricultural yields, market behavior, and scientific research. It could simulate outcomes, calculate probabilities, draft contracts, design machines, and predict trends within seconds.

But of course, it's only available for invited individuals who are top businessmen, scientists, engineers, politicians, doctors, and other major professions. Simon was a businessman and an engineer who was developing high-tech machineries for industrial and agricultural applications.

With predictive modeling tied directly into his cognition, Simon could run feasibility studies in seconds. Market volatility? Simulate ten scenarios. Raw material shortage? Reroute supply chains before competitors reacted. New competitor entering the field? Model price wars and acquisition strategies instantly.

"Now how do you feel, Mister Riley?" asked the agent.

"I'm feeling fine. It felt like getting an injection," he replied with a chuckle.

"That is how most of them feel," the agent chuckled back and continued as she handed a contact lens case. "It also comes with this, it's Jarvis Retina."

Simon opened the case.

Inside were two transparent contact lenses with a faint metallic ring around the edge.

"It acts as a visual extension of the microchip," the agent explained. "The retina projects micro-scale scanning beams and receives environmental feedback. It allows Jarvis to analyze physical surroundings—materials, dimensions, structural integrity, even chemical traces within safe limits."

"Active lasers?" Simon asked.

"Low-energy, non-lethal spectrum. Invisible to the naked eye. Used for surface mapping and data capture. Only you will see the overlay. Speaking of overlay, that's also where you can access the user interface. Try it!"

He nodded.

Simon took one lens between his fingers and placed it over his right eye. It settled smoothly against the surface. He repeated the motion with the left.

For half a second, his vision blurred.

Then a thin blue line swept across his sight.

— Jarvis Retina initializing.

— Calibrating depth perception.

— Mapping field of view.

— Data Synchronization.

Then, an holographic interface popped up before his eyes.

[Welcome Simon Riley, I'm Jarvis, your artificial intelligence personal assistant! What would you like to know?]

"Okay, it's activated," Simon said.

"That's good! Now you can do whatever you want with the chatbot. You can browse for information without the need of the internet since it's all inside the microchip. You can simulate, calculate, design, draft, and even run predictive analytics without connecting to external networks," the agent continued. "Everything is embedded. Of course, large-scale live data still requires network access—but the knowledge base itself is fully stored."

"Great, so no internet huh? So how long does this chip run? I mean does it need charging or anything?"

"There's no need. It's powered by a piezoelectric micro-generator integrated into the chip," the agent explained. "Your body produces constant mechanical motion, heartbeat, blood flow, muscle movement. The chip converts that into electrical energy. As long as you're alive, it runs."

"Same for the retina lenses?"

The agent simply nodded in confirmation.

"Well this is a great product! Thank you miss for accommodating me. Sadly, I have to go as I have a business meeting to attend to."

"No worries Mr. Riley! If you need anything, you know where to reach me."

"I'll keep that in mind," Riley said as he rose to his feet and shook the hands of the agent.

He left the building with his Maybach Mercedes-Benz and drove towards his office which is about ten minutes from Jarvis's Shop Center. While driving, Jarvis's interface were still on and giving him real-time traffic data and navigation. He doesn't need to use the infotainment system of the vehicle as he all has it in his eyes.

Just as he crossed the intersection, something boomed to the side.

He turned and saw the front facade of the truck.

[Collision Probability 99.86 percent!]

[Speed: 70km/h]

[Braced for impact!]

Simon doesn't have the time to register what Jarvis had said as the truck already broadsided his car, knocking him out in an instant.

[Multiple contusions detected!]

[Blood volume decreasing rapidly!]

[Estimated hemorrhage rate: severe]

[Left thoracic cavity compromise suspected]

Air refused to enter his lungs.

[SpO₂ dropping: 82% … 76% … 69%]

He tried to inhale again. Pain tore through his ribs.

[Rib fractures: 3 confirmed, left side]

[Possible flail segment]

[Pulmonary contusion present]

[Internal bleeding probability increasing]

His vision pulsed red.

[Heart rate: 152 bpm]

[Blood pressure: unstable]

[Hypovolemic shock stage II progressing to III]

He tasted iron.

[Oral cavity blood detected]

[Possible lung parenchymal injury]

Sirens in the distance. Voices shouting.

He could not move his legs.

[Suspected spinal cord trauma: inconclusive]

[Lower limb motor response: absent]

His heartbeat stuttered.

[Arrhythmia detected]

[Ventricular instability risk elevated]

Everything narrowed.

[Cerebral perfusion critically low]

[Loss of consciousness imminent]

The interface flickered violently.

Then, his vision turned black.
