Chapter 52 - Chapter 52: If the Child is Untaught, the Father is at Fault

Su Ci turned her head and saw a middle-aged woman swearing as she walked over aggressively.

Su Ci remembered the photo and name in Li Changwei's office; the woman was named Gou Dongxi.

Without a word, Gou Dongxi walked up to Lin Xiaoxiao, who was currently disciplining the Little Brats, and tried to snatch them away.

Lin Xiaoxiao was breathing heavily when she turned back and saw Gou Dongxi approaching her.

The anger in her eyes had not yet dissipated.

Gou Dongxi's eyes met Lin Xiaoxiao's, and it felt like falling into a cold pond; her heart skipped a beat, and she stopped in her tracks.

It wasn't until Lin Xiaoxiao struck the wailing brat with the stick again that she snapped out of it and spat on the ground:

"This is absolutely outrageous! The Orphanage has provided you with food and clothes for over ten years, yet you're truly an ungrateful white-eyed wolf. You even dare to glare at me! If you injure them, even ten lives wouldn't be enough to compensate."

After saying that, Gou Dongxi swung her rough palm to slap Lin Xiaoxiao's face.

It was as if she wanted to teach the ignorant Lin Xiaoxiao a lesson.

Su Ci was observing the situation at all times. Seeing Gou Dongxi about to strike Lin Xiaoxiao, she kicked a pebble from under her foot, hitting Gou Dongxi directly in the knee.

Gou Dongxi felt a sharp pain in her knee and stumbled to the ground, her sallow face turning the color of pig liver. She clutched her knee and cried out, "Who is it? Which heartless person tripped me?"

But after scanning the area, she found that everyone else present was a certain distance away from her, with absolutely no motive to act.

It was as if she had seen a ghost.

Gou Dongxi tried to stand up, but as soon as she moved, her knee throbbed with unbearable pain, making it impossible for her to rise.

Qin Shiyao glanced at Su Ci, but Su Ci remained silent, acting as if it were none of her business.

On the ground, the Little Brats held their heads, making babbling sounds.

These young children were performing a tragic chorus while in intimate contact with Mother Earth.

Look at them, moved to tears.

Caught up in the moment, Lin Xiaoxiao didn't even notice when the conductor's baton in her hand snapped in half.

She looked at the vermin lying on the ground, chanting happily, and her heart couldn't help but be touched, so she stopped the performance.

Shifting her gaze to Li Changwei, she sighed deeply. "Director Li, I was wrong. Please forgive me."

Li Changwei's mouth twitched as he looked at the miserable scene before him; it was simply unbearable to watch.

If they went for treatment, it would cost tens of thousands!

Li Changwei really couldn't bear to watch any longer and helped Gou Dongxi up from the ground.

Once she was helped up, Gou Dongxi couldn't help but start cursing again.

Fortunately, Li Changwei was quick and covered Gou Dongxi's mouth.

Gou Dongxi didn't understand. This was clearly their own Orphanage, so why was Li Changwei acting so cowardly?

But seeing Li Changwei frantically signaling her with his eyes, she sullenly shut her mouth.

She stole a glance at Su Ci, the jinx who had instigated Lin Xiaoxiao to attack the children, and shrank her neck back.

Since this was Su Ci's intention, he could only swallow his grievances. He kept comforting himself and said to Lin Xiaoxiao with a forced smile, "It's fine, it's fine. They were indeed a bit undisciplined. As their older sister, it's only right for you to be strict with them."

Lin Xiaoxiao nodded, her clear, innocent eyes blinking. "That's right. But Eastern Brightness also has an old saying: 'If the child is untaught, it is the father's fault.' These children did wrong, but as the Director, are you not also at fault?"

Li Changwei hadn't fully processed her words yet, thinking the matter was settled.

The underlying tone of accusation in Lin Xiaoxiao's words finally dawned on him.

Li Changwei's brow furrowed, but quickly smoothed out again.

From a long-term perspective, the benefits Lin Xiaoxiao could bring him were immense.

He would accept this blame if he had to. Thus, he said submissively:

"Xiaoxiao is right. This is indeed my problem. Whether you want to hit or scold me, I, the Director, will take it."

He said that, but Lin Xiaoxiao had been at the Orphanage for over ten years. How could Li Changwei not know her soft-hearted and timid nature?

Otherwise, she wouldn't have been bullied by these Little Brats at the Orphanage.

Nor would she have fallen into long-term self-doubt just because of a few scoldings from him.

He believed that as long as he took a step back,

this matter would reach a perfect conclusion.

"Since the Director has said so, it would be my fault if I didn't do something."

Lin Xiaoxiao's smile was like a spring breeze, but her words carried a trace of icy chill.

She didn't give Li Changwei time to react, swinging the stick at him.

Li Changwei's pupils shrank, and he instinctively leaned back.

Because of this, Gou Dongxi, who was being supported, couldn't react in time. Since one of her legs had no strength and her weight was entirely on Li Changwei, she fell toward him.

The two of them tumbled to the ground together, unable to get up for a moment.

This made it even easier for Lin Xiaoxiao to act; the stick in her hand swung so fast it left afterimages.

Feeling the pain on his body, Li Changwei kept shouting, "I was wrong, I was wrong."

It seemed he was trying to evoke Lin Xiaoxiao's sense of filial piety.

Gou Dongxi, on the other hand, was loudly cursing Lin Xiaoxiao for being an ungrateful wolf.

This only earned her even more unforgettable pain.

To avoid being hit, both of them tried to use the other as a human shield.

Pushing and pulling each other, neither of them escaped the beating.

With a *snap*, the stick in Lin Xiaoxiao's hand finally gave way and broke into two pieces. Only then did she stop the education of the two 'parents'.

At this moment, her face was flushed and her breathing was heavy. It was unclear whether it was from excitement or the pleasure of releasing long-suppressed emotions.

Su Ci watched as Lin Xiaoxiao turned to look at her, and she gave Lin Xiaoxiao a perfectly timed smile.

Even a little hamster should have its own claws and teeth to protect itself.

However, when Lin Xiaoxiao saw Su Ci's smile, a trace of panic flashed through her heart.

Like a child caught doing something wrong, she hurriedly dropped the stick on the ground, lowered her head, and nervously fidgeted with her hands behind her back.

Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!

Had she been too heavy-handed?

She had gotten carried away and forgotten about Su Ci and Qin Shiyao.

How could she show such an unsightly side of herself in front of her 'Dawn'?

Would President Su hate her because of this?

But then, what was with the smile on President Su's face?

Lin Xiaoxiao tentatively looked up and saw that the smile was still on Su Ci's face.

There didn't seem to be any hint of disgust in that smile.

It seemed more like encouragement, expectation, or approval?

Was that it!?

It took a long time for Lin Xiaoxiao to muster enough courage to tiptoe over to Su Ci, keeping her head down, not daring to look Su Ci in the eye.

Until something warm rested on the top of her head, and a sweet voice spoke words of affirmation:

"Well done. This is the aura and attitude a Changsheng Biotechnology intern should have."

"Although our Changsheng Biotechnology is a small company, my employees should have this kind of courage to face adversity head-on. No matter who stands against you, I will be your strongest support."
