Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: The widow's wrath

Damien stepped forward slowly. "Common bro can't we just talk things out like… drink or—"

Before he could finish, he suddenly tried stabbing him, but Mubarak acted fast and dodged. Mubarak kicked him in the gut just as Alex came charging towards him. With frightening strength, Mubarak threw Alex aside and grabbed Damien by the neck.

"I won't kil you cause your not the one I'm after," Mubarak said coldly, tightening his grip. "But if you do interfere I'll kill you."

He threw Damien aside as Damien gasped for air. Mubarak then went back to where Alex was lying and stood on top of his hand until he heard the cracking of bones. Alex screamed in pain, desperately reaching for the stone next to him. He grabbed it and stoned Mubarak, making his head bleed.

Out of rage Mubarak grabbed Alex by the neck as Alex choked.

"The king my foot?" Mubarak spat. "Just be a good boy and die got it?"

He threw Alex aside and walked to where he had dropped his dagger. Gasping for breath, Alex forced himself up and kicked him, making him drop the dagger again. Alex desperately tried reaching for it, but Mubarak reached it first and tried stabbing him.

Alex dodged.

From behind, Damien charged in and hit Mubarak with a chair.

Damien coughed heavily as he was still trying to catch his breath. "Are you okay?"

Alex nodded while still trying to catch his breath.

Suddenly, Mubarak came from behind and hit Damien with the chair before grabbing Alex by the neck again.

"Let's end thing's here," Mubarak said with his bloody face. "I have a wife to apoogize to."

He walked toward the dagger again and tried stabbing Alex, but Alex kept dodging. Anger burned across Mubarak's face.

"Just die already you son of a bitch!"

Alex kicked him just as Mubarak charged toward him again with speed. But Mubarak tripped on a stone, and the dagger he was holding thrust up into his throat.

Alex coughed violently as he ran toward Damien.

"Damien, hey, hey open your eye's."

Behind him, Mubarak was still struggling to get up. Blood gushed from his mouth as he murmured weakly.

"Zan… zanu…"

He coughed out more blood before finally stopping moving.

Alex shook Damien desperately. "Damien… Don't you dare, don't you dare die on me."

He slapped him.

Damien suddenly opened his eyes.

"Is… is he still alive?" Damien asked weakly.

Alex nodded.

"Thank God." Damien slowly sat up. "I was planning to play dead while he gave your ass a good beating."

They both laughed weakly.

"Damn he really broke my skull," Damien said, touching his head and wincing in pain. "Arghh damn that Zanu she just had to come with trouble. Are you okay?"

"I just have a broken hand," Alex replied. "I'm fine."

"But darn that Mubarak guy he's so strong," Damien continued. "I used all my strength to hit him with that chair but he… he just stood up like it was nothing. And the way he was flingling us like we wore nothing."

Alex laughed.

At that moment, Zanu woke up and rushed to the scene.

"Mubarak!"

Her scream echoed across the cliffside as she ran toward him and collapsed beside his body, crying.

"Mubarak, please open your eye's please."

Then she turned toward Alex, her eyes red with fury.

"How dare you?" she shouted. "Just tell me who gave you the right to kill him? You couldn't knock him out or something? Must you kill him answer me you piece of shit!"

"Hey are you blind or something?" Damien snapped. "He was the one who charged at us first almost taking us to our graves."

"So?" Zanu replied coldly.

"So?" Damien scoffed. "Are you even in your right senses? He almost killed us. He hit my head with a chair and he broke Alex hand and all you could care about is—"

"Damien," Alex interrupted quietly. "It's okay. Right now we should burry him. Enough of this useless fighting."

Zanu scoffed as Alex walked toward Mubarak's body.

"Can you just believe all this?" Damien muttered as he exited.

Zanu stood there silently as Alex and some other men carried Mubarak away. Slowly she knelt on the ground and continued crying.

In her thoughts: Darn it… curses. Alex I'll make sure you pay for this. How dare you? You ruined everything that I planned for. I don't fucking care if Mubarak died but for the fact that you ruined everything is unacceptable. Forget about bringing you to the palace when it would me who woud end you right here.

Later, everyone dressed in black as a small crowd gathered for Mubarak's burial.

After the burial was done, everyone left.

The widows wrath 2:

After the burial was done and everyone had slowly left, the place grew quiet again. The air felt heavy, the ground still fresh where Mubarak had been buried.

Zanu walked up to Alex, her expression cold.

"So have you made your mind up?" she asked. "Are you coming to the palace or not?"

Before Alex could answer, Damien scoffed loudly.

"Can you imagine this littlle bitch do you even—"

"Shut up," Zanu snapped sharply, cutting him off. "I wasn't talking to you, I was talking to Alex."

"You—"

Before Damien could continue, Alex grabbed his hand and held him back as he hissed in annoyance before walking away.

Alex turned back to Zanu.

"I still have some things left to do here," he said calmly. "And I can't continue to let you tag alone with us. It won't be safe for you and your—"

"Keep your useless sympathy to yourself," Zanu interrupted coldly. "All I wanted to hear was whether you would be coming or not."

She turned away.

"Now that I have my answer I'll take my leave."

She took a few steps before suddenly stopping.

"I just remembered," she said, chuckling lightly. "The earlier you come for the throne the better… cause if you do come a little late then—"

Her voice trailed off as she laughed quietly before exiting.

Damien watched her leave, clearly irritated.

"Really, that Zanu girl… who the hell does she think she is?"

As Zanu walked away from the area, a man suddenly stepped into her path.

"So you really do exist."

He showed his badge.

"Inspector Davis here. I'm here to ask you questions concerning Mubarak death."

Zanu barely slowed down.

"Why don't you go ask Alex," she replied coldly, "since he was present when Mubarak was dying."

She attempted to walk past him.

"So you were not there when Mubarak passed away?" Davis said calmly. "Strange… cause you have been by his side and—"

Zanu stopped and glared at him.

"As you may see I'm not in any mood to play here," she said sharply. "So get the fuck out from my sight."

She moved to leave again, but Davis stepped forward and blocked her path.

"I'm also in no mood to play here," he said with a small smile.

"What were you looking for in Akira resident?"

"Move," Zanu replied coldly. "Come and speak to me next time you have a search warrant."

Zanu storms off, leaving Davis standing there. For a moment he remains still, lost in thought. After a while he sighs deeply.

"This is why I hate my job."

Not long after, he walks over to where Alex and Damien are.

"We meet again," Davis says. "If it's okay with you guys, I would like to ask what actually happened here. What made you fight with Mubarak? Mind coming to the office with me?"

Damien looks at him coldly.

"Mind if we not? Come with a search warrant next time, officer."

Davis lets out a small laugh as the two of them turn and exit together, leaving him standing there.
