Chapter 278 - 276

Chapter 276

Fulfilling the Promise

Arthur sat where he was, immersed in heavy silence, analyzing the matter with a cold mind as thoughts crowded his head.

His mission in this world… had been mysterious from the beginning.

No matter how much he asked Cain, he had never received a clear answer from him.

What he knew for certain was one thing that allowed no argument:

He would not be able to leave this world before completing the main mission.

Either he would complete it…

or face the punishment for failure.

And the punishment for failure had never been merciful.

Either he would lose all his power, forever, without any chance of recovering it.

Or he would be trapped in this world with no way out, for an endless amount of time.

Or death… and that was the best possibility among them.

Arthur, by nature, was not someone who accepted failure.

If he was entrusted with a mission, he would give everything he possessed—his strength, his soul, and even his existence—to accomplish it.

He took a deep breath and exhaled calmly as he spoke to himself:

"Until now… this world suits Myung Sang, to some extent.

But I need to discover more.

He is now completely human…"

When Arthur removed him from another timeline, from Kim Dokja's world, Myung Sang lost all the power he possessed, along with everything connected to his previous existence.

He returned to square one… merely a human.

"I made some adjustments to him and implanted some of my power inside him…

but his presence in the inventory, while asleep, prevented him from assimilating it."

The decision was clear.

"I have to take him out soon… but before that…"

His thoughts were interrupted by his calm voice as he turned behind him:

"Hey, Rimuru, have you finished your food and tests? Let's head out now."

"Yes, yes."

Meanwhile, Rimuru had begun changing.

At one moment, he transformed into a bat, and at another, into a snake, acquiring new skills after devouring those animals.

His ability was clear now.

Unique Skill: Predator.

An ability that allowed him to acquire the skills and characteristics of anything he devoured.

Arthur looked at him with silent admiration.

It was truly an incredible skill, without complexity, without cost, only consumption… and possession.

"A skill that allows you to take any power without effort…"

Arthur thought calmly.

Arthur searched for a way out of the cave, but the only thing before him was a small opening, one that could only accommodate Rimuru.

"Do you want me to devour you too, Arthur?"

Rimuru suggested innocently.

"I can get you out using Predator."

Arthur paused for a moment.

The idea… was strange.

"No. I have my own way."

With absolute calm, Arthur drew his dark black sword.

The blade moved through the air without a sound, drawing a clear rectangle across the cave wall.

One strike.

The wall collapsed, and the mass of rock fell to the ground with a thunderous sound.

Rimuru froze in place, looking at Arthur with an entirely different gaze now.

'He's strong… unnaturally strong.

Even Magic Sense doesn't work on him…

Where did this man come from?'

He wondered internally whether he should ask,

but backed down and chose silence.

He moved alongside Arthur, the two of them continuing their way out of the cave, while Rimuru continued practicing his new skills.

After a short while, Arthur suddenly stopped.

"Listen… I'll be gone for a while. Wait for me here if you wish."

Before Rimuru could respond,

Arthur disappeared from before him in an instant, as though the place itself had swallowed him.

"I'll explore this world first."

---

One full hour later.

"Well… I think the time has come."

Arthur calmly raised his right hand.

A pure white light, beautiful in its majesty, illuminated his palm.

And from nothingness… a young man appeared.

His hair was long, his clothes were torn, and his eyes were lost.

"It's been a long time, boy."

"Where am I…?"

Myung Sang said it as he looked around in confusion, then fixed his gaze on Arthur.

"And who are you?"

"I'm the man who promised to take you away from that planet.

I'm Arthur."

Myung Sang's eyes widened.

"But… you're completely different from what I remember.

Wait… only a few minutes have passed since we spoke!

How did you become like this?"

The inventory.

A special space, existing beyond time itself.

A place where Arthur, with Cain's assistance, could control the flow of time within it.

Although time outside had moved normally, and millions of years had passed…

the inventory had experienced only a few minutes since their last meeting.

"You could say that a lot has happened."

Arthur said calmly.

"But that isn't important."

He took a step closer.

"What truly matters is this…

this world is suitable for you."

He paused for a moment, then continued:

"You are now completely human.

And because of that… I'll give you a choice."

He looked at him steadily.

"Do you want to grow stronger on your own?

Or would you prefer that I give you some power now?"

Myung Sang remained silent for a few seconds.

Then he smiled… a calm smile, free of greed.

"No, thank you."

He said it sincerely.

"I don't want power.

I only want to live peacefully… after everything I've been through.

This time, power is not my goal."

Arthur smiled calmly, feeling a measure of satisfaction.

He reached out and gently patted his head.

Then he took out a beautiful black necklace and placed it around Myung Sang's neck.

"Goodbye, boy.

I hope you find what you are looking for."

And in an instant… Arthur disappeared from the place, without returning.

Myung Sang held the necklace in his hand and closed his eyes.

And when he sensed what was inside it…

Clothes, food, weapons, gold…

everything a person would need to live a hundred years of a dignified life.

He smiled tenderly and looked toward the empty space where Arthur had disappeared, then bowed deeply.

"Thank you… for everything you've done for me."

Then he moved.

Toward a new adventure…

one no one knew about,

except that person.

---

"So… what now?"

Arthur returned to where he had left Rimuru, finding him still waiting calmly.

|You have completed your main and hidden missions in this world.

Congratulations.

You have an entire month to rest if you wish.

Or you may transfer now, without waiting.|

Cain's voice reached him clearly.

Arthur looked at Rimuru, who stood before him with a bright face, filled with excitement.

He breathed calmly.

'So I don't have a mission in this world…

Or perhaps I should rest for a while this time, wander around, and see this world.

I have an entire month.

After that, we'll see what happens.'

"Let's continue, Rimuru.

Let's see what this world has in store for us."

|As you wish, Arthur.|

"Let's go."

The two moved forward,

looking at the endless blue sky above them,

with small smiles on their faces, carrying the promise of a new adventure.
