Chapter 20 - Chapter 20

"Come with me!"

As he spoke, Teizawa wrapped an arm around Temari's waist.

With a casual wave of his hand, the wide window swung open.

In a blur of motion, Teizawa leapt out.

"Ah!"

Temari yelped, startled.

Still moving awkwardly, she instinctively hooked her arms around Teizawa's neck.

"Don't be afraid. I'll take you up."

As he spoke, Teizawa simply… floated in midair.

Then he rose straight upward.

It took Temari a moment to process what was happening.

She stared down at her feet, disbelief written all over her face. "Y-You… you can fly now?"

"Just learned," Teizawa said with a grin.

It was the truth.

Only after awakening electromagnetic force could he fly using his own body.

Before that, his "floating" had really been him standing on Satetsu and suspending himself with magnetism.

While they spoke, they arrived atop the head of the mecha giant standing in the center of the plaza.

With all of Sunagakure spread beneath them, Temari asked, confused, "Why are we here?"

Teizawa looked eager to try it. "Didn't I tell you? Rain."

"R-Rain?"

You're serious?

Under Temari's stunned gaze, Teizawa began forming hand seals.

"Rooster. Rat. Ox. Monkey. Rat. Snake."

His surging chakra abruptly boiled.

Centered on Teizawa, it began streaming up into the sky.

The empty night above them suddenly felt… thick.

Then Temari watched clouds begin to form, slowly, as if out of nowhere.

One. Two. More and more…

Until they spread and swallowed the entire sky.

"T-This…"

Temari's eyes were wide, refusing to miss a single detail.

"Whew…"

After a moment, Teizawa let out a long breath.

"This technique eats chakra…"

And in his mind, he added the rest. Only someone like Nagato, with Uzumaki vitality, could probably spam it.

"Is… is it done?" Temari asked with difficulty, her voice uncertain.

"It's done."

Teizawa took her hand and lifted it, palm up.

Splash, splash…

The instant he finished speaking, raindrops the size of beans began to fall.

Then they grew heavier.

Bigger.

A downpour.

It was raining.

Even as the rain soaked her clothes in seconds, Temari stood frozen, unmoving, letting it pour over her.

Her body began to tremble.

Not from cold.

From sheer excitement.

This man had not only unified a Sunagakure that was on the verge of splitting apart…

He'd also brought rain to the village.

Temari stared at Teizawa through the curtain of rain.

Her gaze grew dazed, almost worshipful.

"Tsk, tsk…"

Teizawa's eyes, unfortunately, started wandering.

Temari's clothes were drenched.

The wet fabric clung to her skin, outlining every curve far more clearly.

Teizawa, utterly shameless, hardened a little.

"Ahem. Uh, Temari. I'll take you to my place to change."

"Huh?"

Noticing his gaze, Temari snapped back to herself.

Embarrassed, she covered her chest and turned her head away.

"What are you hiding for? I already saw everything earlier."

Teizawa rolled his eyes.

"Psh. Pervert," Temari spat, flustered.

"Enough. Tonight, you're coming to my place…"

Without giving her time to refuse, Teizawa suddenly scooped her up in a bridal carry.

One jump, and they vanished from the top of the mecha giant.

But someone had already been watching the two of them.

Even if they couldn't see clearly…

There were certain distinctive outfits you couldn't mistake.

"Was that… Kazekage-sama and Temari?"

"What were they doing up there?"

Voices rose in the plaza.

Before anyone could finish their questions, the rain slammed down in sheets.

"It's raining, oh my god. Sunagakure is actually raining!"

"Water… it's water. Hurry… find something to catch it!"

"Rain! It's raining in Sunagakure!"

"…"

Even though it was past midnight, plenty of shinobi were still gathered beneath the mecha giant.

Now, under the torrential downpour, everyone burst into excited shouts.

"I saw it. I really saw it…"

"Saw what? Don't stand there like an idiot, go home and find something to catch water!"

"I saw Kazekage-sama form hand seals, and then… then it started raining…"

"What? Say that again. That's impossible."

"I'm serious, I saw it. This rain… Kazekage-sama made it happen."

"Quit joking."

"H-Hey, wait… it's real. This… this rain has Kazekage-sama's chakra in it."

"A god… Kazekage-sama is a god!"

"This is something only a god could do…"

In no time, word spread.

One told ten, ten told a hundred.

In only a few moments, it flooded through every street and alley of Sunagakure.

That rain woke the sleeping village.

And it made the entire village shout Teizawa's name again.

Rumors that Teizawa was a god began to run wild.

Some even claimed Teizawa was the reincarnation of the Sage of Six Paths.

Others said his previous life had been the husband of the Rabbit Goddess, and so on.

Every kind of story you could imagine.

Teizawa was pushed fully onto a pedestal.

"What's all that yelling outside? Don't they know old people need sleep?"

Ebizō, still a bit small and wiry, stomped out cursing under his breath.

But the moment he saw the steady rain falling into the courtyard…

He froze.

It had been too long since he'd seen rain.

So long that he'd practically forgotten what rain sounded like.

Now, staring at it, he didn't even know how to react.

After a while, Ebizō finally noticed a figure standing silently on the roof.

Chiyo.

She wasn't even holding an umbrella, letting the rain soak her in silence.

"Big sis, why are you standing up so high?"

Ebizō tried to call her down.

Chiyo ignored him.

Helpless, Ebizō went back inside, rummaged through boxes and drawers for a long time, and finally found an umbrella with a broken handle jammed at the bottom of a cabinet.

Sunagakure rarely saw rain.

Umbrellas had no reason to exist here.

Holding the battered umbrella, Ebizō climbed up onto the roof and went to Chiyo's side, shielding her.

"I'm telling you, big sis, are you out of your mind? Standing here getting soaked."

"Higher up, you can hear it more clearly," Chiyo finally replied.

"More clearly?" Ebizō didn't understand.

Hear what, the sound of rain?

Chiyo said with a wistful heaviness, "They're all shouting outside. They're saying Teizawa is the one who brought this rain."

"Ahem, ahem…"

Ebizō coughed several times, exasperated. "Big sis, I know that kid's popular right now, but that kind of praise is a bit much."

Then he chuckled. "Still… I'll admit it. He's got a real talent for winning hearts."

Clearly, he assumed it was just a rumor Teizawa had spread to consolidate support.

"Hmph." Chiyo snorted. "At first, I thought so too. But now…"

She stretched out her withered hand, letting the icy rain fall into her palm.

"This rain has his chakra in it."

"What?"

Only then did Ebizō react. He reached out to sense it too.

His eyes went wide in shock.

"T-This… how is that possible?"

Chiyo ground out, angry and conflicted. "I want to go find that brat right now and make him explain. How many things does he have that we don't know about?"

"Then go," Ebizō said, nodding. "Go right now."

"Sigh…"

But Chiyo suddenly let out a breath. "Forget it. He's tired today too. T-Tomorrow. Tomorrow."
