The night air was cool and quiet as Sofia and Leila made their way through the garden, the horses' hooves muffled by the grass. They reached the wall, and Sofia tossed a rope over the side, the hook clanging against the stone. Leila's eyes widened as Sofia swung over the edge, landing softly on the ground below. "Your turn, Princess," she whispered, holding out a hand. Sofia smiled, feeling a thrill of excitement. She was really doing this. She was escaping.
As they rode through the city, the streets narrow and winding, Sofia felt a sense of freedom she'd never known. They were almost at the gates when they heard the shout, echoing through the night air. "Halt! Who goes there?" Sofia's heart skipped a beat as she urged her horse forward, Leila close behind. They galloped through the streets, the guards hot on their heels. Sofia knew they couldn't outrun them, not for long. She spotted a narrow alleyway, and pulled her horse into it, Leila following close behind. They were safe, for now.
