Chapter 39 Kai's Wife
"Kahahahaha… my guess was right," Morgan laughed maniacally. Two fresh reports lay open on his desk, the ink still wet as his eyes gleamed with excitement.
"The Oni Samurai… or should I say the Storm King, versus one of the Three Emperors. Will the Storm King defeat Red-Hair Shanks and rise as the Fourth Emperor? Kahahahaha!"
"And the crown of Kuja on its new Empress. The Empress fighting Admiral Kuzan on her very first raid. Is it coincidence? No… the rise of two superpower houses!"
"Storm King challenging an Emperor, and the Empress challenging an Admiral… no, that doesn't feel right."
His gaze drifted toward Hancock's photo, and his eyes turned into hearts. "So beautiful…" he muttered, completely entranced, before violently shaking his head.
"Kahahaha! Got it! The World's Most Beautiful Woman versus the newly promoted Admiral Kuzan!"
"Spread the news, kahahahaha!"
Seagulls immediately took flight, carrying newspapers across the seas as the world was about to be shaken.
---
In Marineford, Sengoku's face turned dark with anger as he slammed his desk.
"So the Storm King started a war with Kaido… and we only got the news from Morgan? What are the CP spies doing in Onigashima? And when did Kuja get a new Empress? Why is she this strong?!"
Tsuru sighed calmly. "You know, Sengoku… Amazon Lily lies in the Calm Belt. It's shielded by natural barriers. And as you said, the war started suddenly. The CP agents likely had no time to report."
"What we should focus on is the new Empress," she continued. "Her strength is frightening. She's fighting Kuzan toe-to-toe. But why is Kuzan keeping his eyes closed?"
Sengoku calmed down, his analytical mind kicking in. "She must be a Devil Fruit user. Look at the warship deck—there are several stone statues. Marines who've been petrified. Her powers are related to petrification."
He leaned back, thinking deeply. "Should we invite her to become one of the Warlords?"
Tsuru considered it. "It's possible. She is the Empress of Kuja. Even if we lack numbers, we still have ships equipped with seastone technology developed by Vegapunk. They can cross the Calm Belt."
"If we show that Amazon Lily is no longer safe," Sengoku said coldly, "she will have only two choices. Either abandon the island… or accept our offer."
Tsuru nodded slowly.
---
On the frozen sea, Kuzan and Hancock clashed continuously.
Their fists and kicks collided violently, coated in advanced Armament Haki. Ice shattered, stone spread, and shockwaves rippled across the battlefield as the very terrain changed with every exchange.
Kuzan exhaled slowly. "You're troublesome… every attack of yours is lethal."
Hancock smirked, her hair flowing behind her. "You talk too much."
---
On Onigashima's rooftop, Kaido and Kai clashed at blinding speed.
Akatsuki and the kanabo never touched directly, yet the space between them exploded again and again. Conqueror's Haki roared into the sky, splitting the heavens as lightning danced wildly.
Kaido grinned ferociously. "Wororororo! You're no ordinary human!"
Kai smirked behind his mask. "It's just the beginning."
---
In the sky, King attacked relentlessly.
Toki's body dissolved into swarms of bats, evading his strikes effortlessly. Flames roared around King as he grew increasingly irritated.
"Tch… let's end this," Toki said calmly.
Her Ame-no-Habakiri was coated in advanced Armament and Conqueror's Haki as she dashed forward.
"You think I'll go down that easily?!" King roared, unleashing massive flame dragons.
"Imperial Flaming Wings!"
The blazing dragons surged forward, consuming the sky.
Toki grinned and charged straight through.
---
Suddenly, the rooftop doors burst open.
A girl in a white kimono walked in, a kanabo resting on her shoulder as she grinned.
"Tsk… no one invited me to the fun?"
Kaido's face lit up instantly. "Wororororo! You came! Good! Let's crush the intruders together!"
Inside, Kaido felt emotional. She finally accepted being a Beast Pirate… he thought, almost tearing up.
---
"Oi, Yamato, stay out of it," Kai said, pointing toward King and Toki. "I made a bet with Kaido. Go have fun with King."
"What, you bastard?! You just want all the fun for yourself!" Yamato snapped. "And you didn't even tell me you came back to Wano!"
"Ahem…" Kai looked away, whistling innocently. "Wh-what are you talking about?"
His eyes suddenly lit up. "Surprise! Yeah, it was a surprise!"
He nodded repeatedly, completely convinced by his own explanation.
A vein popped on Yamato's forehead. "Are you treating me like a kid? Even an idiot wouldn't believe that!"
"Ahem… how about I take you to Fishman Island?" Kai offered.
Yamato froze… then her eyes sparkled. "Tch… I'll forgive you this time."
---
The two immediately started discussing their trip like nothing else mattered.
Kaido stood there in disbelief. "What… is happening?"
His daughter was casually chatting with the Oni Samurai like they were best friends, completely ignoring him.
His face turned red with rage. "DAMN IT! You bastard! You think you can just take my daughter like that?!"
Kai and Yamato turned toward him.
"What are you talking about?" Yamato asked, confused.
Kai smirked behind his mask, then wrapped his arms around Yamato's neck, hugging her from behind. "Yeah… what are you talking about?"
"Oi, the mask is hurting my face," Yamato complained.
Kaido's Conqueror's Haki exploded outward.
What made him angrier wasn't just the hug—it was the fact that Yamato didn't react at all, as if it was completely natural.
"You two… how do you know each other?" Kaido demanded.
Yamato smiled softly. Kai replied subconsciously "Since we were eight."
"We?" Kaido froze.
Yamato smacked Kai's head. "Idiot! You just revealed you're the same age as me!"
Kai scratched his head awkwardly. "Well… it slipped out."
He sighed and removed his mask.
---
Kaido stared in shock.
"You… you're fifteen? The same age as Yamato?!"
Kai nodded, still hugging her casually, their cheeks were praticlly glued.
Kaido looked at him like he was seeing a monster.
"You were a kid when you defeated Shiki?"
Even weakened, Shiki was still Shiki.
For a brief moment… the idea of Kai as his son-in-law didn't seem so bad. He was a monster in Haki and Swordsmanship Plus a Mythical Zoan.
"Worororororo! What kind of monster are you?" Kaido laughed. "No wonder you hid your face!"
Then he smirked. "How about marrying Yamato and becoming my son-in-law?"
Yamato flushed bright red. "S-stupid old man! What are you talking about?!"
---
"Hm… will you follow me?" Kai asked.
Kaido scoffed. "Of course not."
"Then we continue," Kai said calmly. "Same bet. Winner becomes captain."
"And as for marrying Yamato…" Kai paused.
"She's my wife… even before she was born."
He kissed her cheek and stepped forward, gripping Akatsuki.
---
Thunder cracked across the sky.
Winds roared violently as lightning roared trugh heavens.
"Wororororo! So you want me to call you captain?!" Kaido laughed. "Then show me you're worthy!"
He charged forward.
Kai met him head-on.
---
Behind them, Yamato grinned widely.
"Wife even before I was born? Huh…"
She bounced happily toward King and Toki, her kanabo crackling with Conqueror's Haki.
"Oi! Let me join the fun too!"
