Chapter 13 -  Level Ten Soul Disciple

Life at the academy was only interesting at the beginning. After that phase passed, it quickly became dull and monotonous.

Only the cultivation sessions held every three to five days truly brought joy to Wang Li. The reason they were spaced three to five days apart was that after each session, it took that long for his body to recover.

Wang Li did not practice the basic meditation technique taught by the academy. Instead, he used the meditation technique that came with his panel, which was truly domineering.

Wang Li suspected that cultivating this technique without sufficient experience to guide it required medicinal baths or dietary supplements to compensate for the strain on the body while making rapid progress.

However, he lacked such conditions and could only wait for his body to recover on its own. As a result, his appetite increased dramatically, and he ate far more than others his age. Fortunately, he had brought quite a few Silver Soul Coins with him when he left the village; otherwise, the ten Copper Soul Coins he earned daily from cleaning would not have been enough to cover his food.

That said, the results of cultivation were absolutely astonishing. A single session was equivalent to ten days or even half a month of ordinary training. With the panel, Wang Li could clearly see his progress after each session.

By his estimation, after four or five sessions, he could raise his soul power by one level. Even though cultivation was relatively fast at the Soul Disciple stage, this speed was still absurd.

Life at the academy was boring, and the only entertainment came from Xiao Chenyu of the upper grades. As the city lord's son, instead of focusing on cultivation, he took pleasure in bullying work-study students.

Xiao Wu was not someone who would tolerate such behavior. One day, she formally challenged the group of upperclassmen led by Xiao Chenyu.

Wang Li was also a work-study student, so he naturally went along. Although he wanted to fight and gain experience, his martial soul was not suitable for combat, and no one was willing to let him take the field rashly.

The first to fight was Wang Sheng. Before his match even finished, Tang San, who had gone out to obtain a soul ring, returned.

This left Wang Li with even less chance to fight, and he could only watch the battle in boredom.

Tang San versus Xiao Chenyu.

Once Tang San revealed his hundred-year soul ring, Xiao Chenyu's ten-year soul ring looked utterly ridiculous.

Seeing this, Wang Li could not help complaining inwardly. Wasn't Xiao Chenyu the city lord's son? How could he not even obtain a hundred-year soul ring?

Although Notting City was a remote small city, the city lord still belonged to the noble class rather than commoners. Yet his son had started with a ten-year soul ring, just like a commoner.

This was clearly done to highlight Tang San and the preciousness of a hundred-year soul ring, but it really lowered everyone's intelligence.

If one had to force an explanation, perhaps Xiao Chenyu was an illegitimate son of the city lord, sent to Notting Academy to be raised casually, while the true heir had already been sent to a better academy or faction.

As expected, first-year Tang San completely crushed sixth-year Xiao Chenyu.

At this point, the group of upperclassmen led by Xiao Chenyu was thoroughly intimidated.

Finally, Xiao Wu activated her martial soul. She was also a level eleven battle soul master, also bearing a yellow hundred-year soul ring.

Including Xiao Chenyu, everyone submitted completely.

Only Wang Li felt deep regret that he had gained no experience points from this. To him, it was like missing out on a hundred million.

Cultivate. Cultivate fiercely. He needed to escape his current predicament as soon as possible. Only by possessing sufficient strength could he experience more battles, gain more experience, and grow stronger.

In the blink of an eye, three months passed.

Within Wang Li's body, soul power surged continuously through his meridians, racing forward wildly like dragons and serpents. It devoured the free-floating soul power outside his body in great gulps, then compressed and condensed it at incredible speed, transforming it into his own soul power and strengthening himself.

When one full circulation was completed, the soul power within him suddenly surged, officially breaking through to level ten.

Wang Li was overjoyed. He immediately steadied his mind and guided his soul power back to his dantian. All agitation gradually subsided. Within the dantian, soul power nourished the Blue Silver Grass martial soul, and the Blue Silver Grass in turn fed back into the soul power.

Wang Li felt an indescribable warmth spread through his body.

He slowly opened his eyes, filled with joy, and thought to himself:

Three months ago, I was only a level three Soul Disciple. Three months later, I am already a level ten Soul Disciple. This cultivation speed is no less than that of a top-tier genius.

It was already dark, though not yet late at night. The others in the dormitory were all cultivating. Wang Li glanced in Wang Sheng's direction.

Wang Sheng often bragged in front of them that he was about to reach level ten, that he would reach level ten very soon…

Yet now, Wang Li had reached level ten even faster than Wang Sheng. Wang Sheng liked to boast loudly, while Wang Li was extremely low-key.

Even now, no one else knew Wang Li's true soul power level. Although the academy had crystal balls to test soul power, they were only used at the end of the term, essentially equivalent to final exams.

Therefore, as long as Wang Li said nothing, no one could know his true level.

He had no way to hunt soul beasts independently to obtain a soul ring, so whether he said it or not made no difference.

If he wanted to rely on the academy to hunt soul beasts, he would have to wait until this year's sixth-year students graduated. Only then would the academy organize all students who had reached level ten to go to the Hunting Soul Forest together. There would be no exceptions made for any individual student.

Since his soul power had reached level ten, he decided not to continue cultivating today. Wang Li quietly lay down, staring at the ceiling, and thought:

Although without a soul ring my soul power cannot break through further, I cannot completely slack off. The soul power cultivated now will reveal itself after absorbing a soul ring.

However, aside from soul power cultivation, the most important thing for me now is to train one or two defensive methods. Creating soul skills on my own is no easy task.

As he thought, Wang Li gradually fell asleep, sleeping until the next day. The sun rose in the east, and daylight filled the sky.

The two morning classes, cultural studies and martial soul knowledge, could not be skipped. Although Wang Li found them boring, he still studied diligently.

In the afternoon, Wang Li went straight to the back mountain. The ecological environment of Douluo Continent was excellent. Lush Blue Silver Grass could be seen everywhere on the ground, and the mountains were full of green trees. Bird calls and cicada chirps echoed endlessly through the forest.

Wang Li did not go too far. He found a hillside densely covered with Blue Silver Grass. The terrain was open, and from there he could see Notting Academy below.

Taking a deep breath and stretching lazily, Wang Li took off his uniform, revealing大片 of wheat-colored skin and a well-built upper body. With a resolute expression, he said slowly:

"Then let's begin… real cultivation."

Wang Li had never learned true martial arts, but his martial soul possessed vitality and toughness, two extremely versatile traits and passive abilities.

Therefore, the training method he devised was to damage his own body and let it recover on its own, to see whether he could develop techniques similar to the Golden Bell Shield or Iron Shirt.
