Chapter 99 - Chapter 97

Thanks to the addition of Lock and the forces of three squads, the remaining small Titans were quickly being cleaned up.

"Boom!"

The massive explosion sound coming from the other side of the wall drew everyone's attention.

Lock stepped off the nape of a Titan's neck and landed on the ground, his eyes cold: "Bertholdt..."

Because ever since Bertholdt flew past, there had been no sound of the Colossal Titan transforming.

Just now, Lock had been wondering if Bertholdt had been successfully stopped by Armin and the others, which had reassured him for a while.

He didn't expect his previous worries to still come true.

Eren and the others should be fine... but how many people from Hange's squad survived?

Could Mr. Moblit survive?

Lock suddenly frowned as another wave of headache struck him.

Earlier, the same symptom would recur every short interval.

This paroxysmal headache had no specific characteristics and was not severe, so it didn't greatly affect Lock.

But Lock knew this was abnormal. He possessed the Power of the Titans in addition to the strength given by Lin Youde; logically, this shouldn't be happening to him.

If it wasn't some sudden illness... then what could it be?

Lock, full of confusion, turned his head to look at the Beast Titan in the distance... He saw the opponent pick up a rock at his feet that fit the size of his palm, slowly crushing it with both hands... Lock's pupils contracted sharply!

He remembered!

He remembered how terrifying Zeke's Beast Titan was on the battlefield!

But why did he only remember now?

Why would he forget such an important thing?

This is impossible!

The Beast Titan slowly adopted a pitching stance... Lock, snapping back to reality, shouted: "Artillery fire ahead! Artillery fire! Dodge! Quick, dodge!"

"What? Where is the artillery fire coming from?" The Soldiers nearby, who were encircling the Titan,s didn't immediately understand Lock's words.

But Lock also knew that the Survey Corps Soldiers, who had been lured to the very front of the buildings by the small Titans, had nowhere to hide.

There was no time... Lock grabbed the collar of the nearest Soldier and forcefully retreated with him at full speed.

A terrifying sound of rushing wind erupted behind him.

The instant Lock heard it, he pulled the person he was holding and hid behind the nearest building.

He didn't have time to worry about the other person. Lock immediately covered his head with both hands and flattened himself against the base of the wall.

"Bang! Bang! Bang..."

Countless fist-sized rocks struck at supersonic speed. Titans, humans, and buildings were all instantly shattered into pieces!

As the barrage ended, Lock immediately got up and saw at a glance that the Soldier he had dragged over had vanished from the spot.

The surrounding ruins were stained with blood, and all he could see were fragmented human remains.

Lock had no time for sorrow; the countless shrapnel wounds on his body were rapidly healing.

He knew Zeke's next projectile would arrive soon. Without hesitation, and without waiting for his injuries to fully heal, he immediately activated his Omni-Directional Mobility Gear and retreated at full speed again!

A terrifying sonic boom exploded behind him again!

One second before Lock landed, he suddenly felt a high-speed train graze past him, and his entire body uncontrollably crashed to the ground.

Lock lay prone on the ground, his consciousness somewhat hazy.

He could feel that the left half of his body was severely damaged.

Fortunately, his head wasn't injured. White steam billowed as Lock accelerated the repair of his body.

No, Zeke won't stop, I have to leave quickly... At that moment, Lock, whose face was pressed against the ground and whose mind was slightly dazed, seemed to see a pair of feet appear in front of him.

They seemed to be the feet of a small girl, wearing a pair of worn cloth shoes with complex bindings reaching up to her calves.

Lock struggled to turn his head to look up, but the figure suddenly vanished.

Was it a hallucination caused by excessive blood loss?

The damage to his internal organs and major blood vessels had recovered. Lock endured the pain, used his right hand to prop himself up, and leaned against the wall behind him.

This spot should be able to withstand one more throw.

Lock lowered his head to check his injuries.

His left forearm was gone, and his left calf was bent at a strange angle, with the fractured bone end piercing the skin and exposed outside.

His clothes were also torn everywhere and stained with blood.

The wound where his left hand was severed had been temporarily stopped under Lock's control.

Lock gripped the fractured end of his calf bone with his right hand, took a deep breath, and forcefully reset it!

"Ugh!"

That really hurts... He didn't consider whether the fractured ends were perfectly aligned or worry about wound infection; what he needed was to regain mobility quickly.

After resetting the bone, Lock's powerful regenerative ability began working, and soon he could feel the presence of his five toes again.

Just as he was about to regenerate his severed left arm, Lock heard someone approaching his location.

Shortly after, Levi landed in front of him.

The pale-faced Lock managed a strained smile toward Levi: "Captain."

Seeing that he was still alive, Levi didn't mind the bloodstains on Lock and immediately hoisted him onto his shoulder.

"Wait a moment!" Lock suddenly called out, stopping him.

The next second, Zeke's projectile throw slammed into the area, kicking up smoke and dust.

Fortunately, the building behind them withstood the attack.

"We can go now, Captain."

Levi carried Lock without saying a word, returning to the base of Wall Maria.

"Medic!" Levi shouted as soon as he landed.

"Captain Levi!"

Levi looked at the Recruits crouching on the ground in confusion and roar,d: "Everyone immediately secure your horses and hide behind the buildings!"

Then he asked again: "Who has emergency supplies on them? Hurry up and come help!"

When everyone escorted the horses to the base of Wall Maria, they understood that they had no path left for retreat.

Handing Lock over to Marlo, Levi went to find Erwin, who had already dismounted the wall.

Marlo took out bandages and began dressing Lock's wounds.

"Boom! Boom! Boom!"

Zeke's successive rounds of artillery fire caused the group of Recruits to cry out in despair.

Lock looked at the relatively calm Marlo and asked, "Marlo, aren't you afraid?"

Marlo gritted his teeth while wrapping the bandages: "I told you, ever since I chose to join the Survey Corps, I prepared myself for sacrifice."

"I just didn't expect... this day to come so soon."

After a moment of silence, Lock said: "Our horses are running away, hurry and stop them. I'm fine."

Marlo looked back and saw Floch crouching on the ground, acting desperate, and the horse he was responsible for had been startled and fled.

Marlo gave Lock an apologetic look and stood up, preparing to drag the horse back... Lock looked ahead at the approaching Hell, expressionless.

All of this was caused by Lin Youde... That guy controlled my memory, making me forget crucial information about the Beast Titan.

Why did he do this?

Was it just to restore the plot? What's the point of that?

If he wanted to restore the plot so badly, why did he force me to kill Annie back then?

Damn it!

At this moment, a figure appeared before the enraged Lock.

It was a small girl, dressed in tattered clothes, with vacant eyes.

Lock was certain he had never seen her, but the instant he saw her, he understood her identity.

He murmured in shock: "Founding... Ymir?"
