Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: This Life is Like Morning Dew, Body and Name Both Perish

Having already died once, Mo Xi wasn't actually that afraid at this moment... it was just... she was just so unwilling. In this life, she had clearly hoped to protect her younger sister well. Unexpectedly, the figures of her parents surfaced in Mo Xi's mind, followed by a purple figure entering her vision.

'How ridiculous. To think the last thing I'd remember is the figures of my... "family"... At least my sister still has a chance to survive. Sister Acheron... I hope you can take good care of Mo Xin.'

As the blade fell, Mo Xi closed her eyes and accepted her end.

Crack!!!

A crisp sound awakened Mo Xi's consciousness; it sounded like metal shattering. She opened her eyes to see that the dagger had already fallen, but the lethal blade had vanished, leaving only a handle and a few fragments falling to the ground.

Before the three of them could react, Mo Xi felt the scene before her eyes shift, and when she regained her senses, she noticed she had already distanced herself from the thugs. The familiar sound of high heels clicking on the ground reached her ears, causing a flicker of hope to inexplicably ignite in Mo Xi's heart.

This all happened in just an instant. After the two men dithered for a moment, they both stiffly turned their heads. What appeared before them was a purple-haired beauty dressed in strange purple attire. But at this moment, the two of them had no heart to appreciate the woman's beauty. What the woman held between her right fingernails was the inexplicably vanished blade.

Mo Xi seemed to recognize the person beside her, a light of surprise and joy flickering in her eyes. Just as she was about to speak, she felt a large, warm hand land gently on top of her head. The movement was as light as a feather, carrying endless tenderness and care, causing a warm current to surge through her heart.

Gradually, Mo Xi's tense heart miraculously calmed down, and the strange sensation lingering in her mind also slowly dissipated like haze driven away by sunlight. Mo Xi suddenly felt her mind clear up significantly, then she looked up blankly at the tall purple figure beside her.

"Sister..."

Mo Xi's tone carried a tenderness and a hint of reliance that even she hadn't noticed, along with an imperceptible tremble. Her expression also became inexplicably nervous, her eyes flickering with shyness and unease, like a little sister being discovered with a secret by her elder sister, her cheeks flushing slightly.

Acheron's gaze turned toward Mo Xi, and that cold face actually seemed to melt like ice and snow, slowly revealing a tender smile. She comforted her softly, her tone gaining a bit of warmth.

"Sorry. Leave the rest to me."

The gentle words were completely unlike her usual coldness, unexpectedly making Mo Xi feel exceptionally at ease. Then, Acheron's gaze turned forward, her bone-chilling temperament fully revealed once again.

The woman's purple bangs obscured one of her eyes, but they could clearly see a scarlet vertical pupil appearing in the center of the other purple pupil, staring fixedly at them. Even though the woman was just standing there quietly, and even though there was no Supernatural Ability fluctuation on her body, she seemed to radiate an extremely dangerous aura, as if it had transformed into a giant hand tightly gripping their throats.

The burly man was the first to calm down. The iron rod in his hand was like a nimble flood dragon, constantly brandishing it as the surrounding airflow whistled, demonstrating his momentum. He plucked up his courage and questioned her.

"Who are you? I advise you not to meddle in other people's business, otherwise, our Black Tiger Society is not to be trifled with. If you hand that girl over to us, we will reward you handsomely afterward."

The man didn't promise too much, but a flash of cunning crossed his eyes. Acheron didn't pay him any attention at all, her cold eyes staring straight at the two of them as if they were two corpses that had long been dead.

Mo Xi wanted to speak to warn Acheron, but before the words could leave her mouth, she saw Acheron suddenly step aside for some reason. Before she could figure it out, a terrifying scene appeared.

Where Acheron had originally been standing, a ravine several meters deep suddenly split open in the ground, spreading toward the street outside the alley at an alarming speed. On the opposite side of the street, a large tree was split directly in two by some mysterious force, the trunk breaking and crashing to the ground. All of this was like an invisible sharp blade, carrying a sharp momentum, ruthlessly swinging a terrifying strike.

"This is..."

Seeing this scene, Mo Xi was shocked beyond words, while Acheron gave a faint evaluation.

"Severing the object before you with an invisible blade? Or to be more precise, you possess an ability similar to 'Cutting.' Just now, you gave the air an ability by swinging the iron rod to achieve the 'Air Slash' technique, and then used words to make me let down my guard. A good tactic."

As Acheron's faint words fell, all three people present showed expressions of shock. The burly man never expected that the other party would easily dodge the 'Air Slash', and his trump card was completely seen through, with even his Supernatural Ability being guessed almost correctly.

Could she be a Mental-type or have an ability like enhanced perception? No! That eerie speed just now, and the monstrous strength to easily crush metal—no matter how you looked at it, she seemed more like an Enhancement-type Ability User.

But... Acheron looked at the 'iron fragment' in her hand, seemingly discovering something interesting. In the next second, Acheron applied a slight pressure with her fingertips, and with a crisp "crack," that iron fragment actually shattered into powder between her fingers like rubble.

"Now... it's my turn to act."

Zzt... The three of them were horrified to find purple electrical arcs constantly flickering around Acheron's body. Then, Acheron slowly reached out and pulled a long sword from the void. The scabbard was entirely purple, the blade's length was nearly equal to the woman's height, and a red crystal was embedded in the guard, looking like a scarlet pupil watching the several people.

This scene left the several people even more bewildered and terrified.

'Lightning? Elemental-type! But what's with this sword? A space ability? Just what kind of monster is this!'

The burly man no longer held any illusions. That move just now was his last trump card, and it couldn't be used continuously. This woman was definitely not simple, but if she really was an Enhancement-type, then they might still have a chance.

Just as he thought, the other person had already begun to activate his Supernatural Ability. His ability could disrupt the opponent's mind and perform a certain degree of Telekinesis. He was full of confidence as he prepared to activate his Supernatural Ability. After all, Mental-type Supernatural Abilities were almost a weakness for people like "her."

But... he had clearly chosen the wrong target.

"Ah!!!"

A wail broke the status quo. The man behind him crawled on the ground in pain, his expression filled with extreme terror.

"You... what's wrong?" The burly man's Adam's apple bobbed as his voice trembled, his pupils shrinking violently, a bone-chilling coldness crawling up his spine.

But no one was destined to answer his question, because the other person's every muscle was trembling at this moment, and even standing required all of his strength. Acheron watched this scene calmly. She remembered some things and also understood some things.

'This world really isn't simple. This should be the first... or perhaps the second time I've seen "Transcendental" power. That person with the pale face probably wanted to use mental disruption on my brain. Unfortunately, I'm practically the nemesis of this kind of ability... After all, the power of "Nihility" isn't something just anyone can touch.'

And now, she finally remembered how to use this power. As well as the name of this sword—⌈Naught⌋.

Tap, tap!

The sound of footsteps once again echoed throughout the dark alley. The two of them immediately tensed their muscles, and the burly man stared fixedly at the sword in the woman's hand, trying to find a glimmer of hope. Acheron raised her hand to grip below the sword guard, and long-dormant memories slowly flowed into her mind.

Countless past events surfaced one by one before Acheron's eyes. A tear of blood fell from the corner of her eye.

"This life is like morning dew, body and name both perish."

Feeling the pressure blowing against them, fear and despair constantly grew in the hearts of the two men. The burly man's face was distorted, his fists clenched until his knuckles turned white, as he prepared to attempt a final struggle. But Acheron's figure vanished in the blink of an eye, and only the familiar sound of footsteps could be heard appearing from behind them once again.
