Chapter 3 - 03-Space Magic

I stepped deeper into the Elemental Hall, my eyes darting from one trial station to another. The room was alive with movement, students practicing fire spells, summoning water and many different astonishing acts. The air feels charged, the soft hum of what i think is magical energy made my skin tingle. My heart raced, I had never seen so much raw power concentrated in one place. This is incredible!

I tried to steady myself, taking in the details. Tables lined with different potions, floating crystals rotating gently in midair, shelves of scrolls etched with intricate runes, and small magical artifacts scattered throughout the room. I felt both thrilled and overwhelmed. Okay, breathe.

My gaze drifted to a large stone monument in the center of the hall, its surface carved with something resembling a tree diagram. At the base, four branches spread outward, each labeled: Fire, Water, Wind, Earth. Common elemental types is slighty carved with intecrate strokes beside it. As my eyes followed the tree upward, I noticed rarer branches splitting off: Lightning, Ice, Poison… and finally, three golden, shimmering branches at the very top: Void, Time, Space.

Space? Could it be? My mind raced. I mean… I moved that stone back there. But was that really Space Magic? Could it have been Earth? Or… something else?

"Hey," a voice said softly beside me. I jumped slightly and turned. It was a student in a deep blue robe with a calm, measured presence. "I am Rengie, is everything okay? You seem… a bit lost. Need some help?"

I hesitated, unsure how to answer. Well… I think I might have something, but I don't even know what it is yet.

"Um… I'm not really sure," I admitted, voice barely above a whisper. "I… I think I can show you?"

Rengie raised an eyebrow, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "Show me, huh? Alright, come with me."

He led me toward a quieter corner of the hall, away from the bustling trials. Magical energy hummed in the air, floating in colorful spheres and wisps around us. On the far left, the common elements shone brightly: an earth orb, etched with intricate, majestic runes;

a water sphere, shimmering with an almost otherworldly light;

a fire globe, crackling dangerously yet beautiful, casting warm shadows;

and air, compressed into a translucent swirl that looked refreshing, yet carried a subtle tension, as if it could explode at any moment.

Moving further to the right, the other elemental spheres hovered on more ornate pedestals, their glow softer but more elegant, hinting at subtler, rarer powers. But my gaze skipped over them, drawn instinctively to the far right. There, three spheres floated above gilded, ancient platforms: Void, Time, and Space.

They looked… ancient, yet meticulously maintained. Their surfaces shimmered with a mystic sheen, as if they held the secrets of the entire world. My breath caught. I can't believe this… Wow

Rengie's voice broke through my thoughts, calm yet encouraging. "If you're unsure of your abilities, this is the place. Here, you can test any magic you might possess. Something you've always suspected, or maybe haven't even known existed. Anything is possible. So… should we start?"

I swallowed hard, nerves and excitement twisting together. "Yeah… I think so."

He led me closer to a small table. Students nearby were whispering, their eyes flicking toward me curiously. My palms were sweaty, and my heart pounded in my chest. There weren't any loose stones lying around this time, but a small, enchanted orb rested on the table, glowing faintly with a soft, inner light.

He led me closer to a small table. Students nearby were whispering, glancing at me with a mix of curiosity and skepticism. My palms were sweaty, my heart hammering in my chest. There weren't any loose stones lying around this time, but a small, enchanted orb rested on the table, glowing faintly with a soft, inner light.

Maybe… this will work, I thought, taking a deep breath. I focused, pointing at the orb, willing it to move. A tiny pulse of energy ran through my fingertips. The orb wobbled, hesitated, and then… instead of rolling or shifting, it began to emit a soft purple glow.

I froze. My heart leaped. Why didn't it move? Did I do something wrong?

A few students glanced over, murmuring quietly to one another. It was unusual for someone to interact with the testing orb without formal approval, and their curious, skeptical eyes made me feel even more nervous. Especially after seeing the stone glow, many turned to stars.

I glanced at Rengie. "Uh… did I do it right?"

His eyes widened slightly, a flicker of excitement crossing his face. "Space…" he murmured, almost to himself, a faint smile tugging at his lips.

He nodded at me encouragingly. "Come on, let's see." He guided me toward a sleek, polished stone at the center of the station. "This is the Level Stone. It measures the strength and control of your magic. Place your hand here."

I did as instructed, pressing my palm against the cold surface. Immediately, the stone pulsed with light, but only a faint glow, barely illuminating the carved runes across its surface. My stomach twisted. That's… very light. Almost nothing.

A professor stepped forward, his gaze kind yet tinged with a subtle disappointment. "Indeed… this is Space Magic," he said, voice calm but firm. "However, your current level is extremely low for your age. You are sixteen, yet this reading is closer to that of a newborn. Most students never even touch this category. What you possess is rare… but you must work hard to grow."

I swallowed, my cheeks warming, trying to hold onto my excitement. Space Magic?! Rare… that's something, isn't it? I can build on this.

But… did he say newborn? I froze for a moment. This can't be… I just transmigrated. So technically… here, I equal a newborn?

How strange…

Rengie glanced at the faint glow, then back at me. "It's weak now, but extremely rare. With practice, you could achieve incredible things. Don't worry too much, you've got this."

Just then, a magical scroll appeared in front of me, floating lazily in the air. In elegant, shimmering script, it read:

"Interesting… come to my office after the trials. Room 12, magical hall."

I blinked. A professor wants to see me? A mix of curiosity and nervous anticipation ran through me. I tucked the scroll away mentally, promising myself I'd go.

Behind us, some students whispered, their tones a mix of disbelief and envy. One scoffed under his breath: "Something special… but with that power level?"

I felt a small thrill despite it all. Space Magic… even if it's weak, it's mine. I just need to keep going.

Rengie smiled again. "Ready to step back and observe the other trials, or do you want to try again here later?"

I nodded, determination steadying my voice. "I… I'll try again. I need to practice. And maybe… I'll understand this power better."

He gave a supportive nod. "Good. Don't worry. This rare category doesn't see beginners often. You'll have my guidance if you need it."

I glanced back at the monument, the carved tree of magic types. The rare branches Void, Time, Space still shimmered in my mind. I didn't know exactly what I had yet, but I knew this: I had entered a world of possibilities, and the path ahead was mine to explore.
