The saints standing on the obsidian floor looked at the terryfying and mysterious man before them with shocked gazes.
Nephis also stared at him, dumb founded. It seems the proposal of marriage was the last thing she expected from a man who lives in a literal death zone.
So it took her a while to register the words.
But inside her mind, a familiar voice muttered dazedly, [Huh....?].
Cassie, back in the ivory tower sat in her table, her empty eyes blank before she raised her hands to cover her face.
[W-w-what?!] She was embarassed, obviously. She had been a fangirl for a ship that sunk four years ago.
That incident also made the relationship between her and her best friend much more distant than before.
But maybe because she has spend all her teenage years shipping over them, or having celebrity crush on another friend before that.
She was practically blind to or has never even considered the possibility of having a romantic relationship of her own.
But now, when she suddenly finds out that the person they needed the most for their future plans admired her and wanted to propose marriage, she found no words to respond.
The death of Sunless had a;ready damaged Fate a lot, which has now resulted in her inability to divinate the distant future.
She clearly saw her own future to be forever single and enjoy the romance between her two best friends.
After all, being someone who sees the future, she can see every possibility of her own romance.
But even after losing the ability to see the future, she didn't find anyone who meets her taste.
When she truly thought about it, she found that her ideal type was none other than the person she shipped her best friend with....Sunless.
But now he was gone. She was also hoping like Nephis that the reclusive saint turns out to be Sunless.
But as she read Inriam's runes, she was disappointed, which she was prepared for.
Wat she wasn't prepared for....was the sudden marriage proposal.
[DECLINE! DECLINE immediately! You CAN'T accept to THIS!] She shouts in Nephis's mind. Clearly embarassed.
Nephis stays silent for a second before finally parting her lips. "I'll arrange that. But are you really going to join our side just to meet a person?"
Inriam smiled and replied casually, "Of course not! Princess Seishan of Song was ready to sacrifice her sister, even her other sisters agreed. But I declined solely because that woman was crazy and already belonged to someone I know."
"I obviously cannot side with you just to meet her. We'll talk first, if our views and feelings align, we'll get engaged and I would assist you in building your army in Godgrave, I might even help you win the war."
Then his smile vanished and was replaced by an expression of indifference, "But if we fail to meet our hearts, I would propose other demands, but the only thing you'll get in return is the permission to build your base in Godgrave."
Then he looked at them mockingly, "I would still allow the war to take place. But remember..." His eyes turned cold.
"But let me warn you. You can forget about ever taking over any of the Cathedral within the Godgrave...."
"...Or I'll kill All Three of the Sovereigns and make sure Humanity becomes extinct. After all, without humanity, nobody has anything to protect and nobody would try to stop the Apocalypse from happening."
He stated clearly.
The air turned Heavy. The saints gasped and breathed deeply as their scalps tingled and their hearts burned with rage at the audatious words from this man.
One saint was about to yell but he was stopped by Nephis with a sign signaling 'Stay silent'.
"Just who do you think you are to utter such audatious words?" Nephis asked, a smile tugging at the corner of her lips.
"Hm! I am Inriam." Inriam smiled once again, "A Former Transcendent who fought a Curse Titan to finish the ritual and become a Semi-Supreme. All that remains for me to do is simply complete my Domain."
His words hung in the air, suffocating most of the people present.
"What 'Ritual' are you talking about?" Nephis asked.
"Information valuable enough needs a price to be paid Lady Changing Star, surely you are aware of such basic knowledge."
Nephis turned silent, contemplating in her mind.
[My Dear Friend Cassia, Congratulations on your upcoming engagement.] She said in her mind, clearly directing towards someone who witnessed the whole scene very clearly.
[....] Her mind was strangely calm, which now felt very eerie.
Nephis though that Cassie might've disconnected and sighed, when a curse landed in her mind, almost turning her deaf.
[F*CK YOU!!!]
