Chapter 48 - Chapter 48: The Debt of the Ancestors

Just as Emon thought the battle was over, a third secret emerged. The copper ring wasn't made by his grandfather; it was stolen. The original owners, a race of 'Interdimensional Debt Collectors,' arrived to claim the interest on the 1600 souls. They argued that because Emon used the djinns to do good, he had 'inflated' the value of the souls, and now the debt was too high for Earth to pay.

The twist: The collectors revealed that Emon's sickness as a child wasn't a disease—it was the world 'paying' for the magic his grandfather used. Every time a jinni did a favor for the family, a piece of Emon's health was taken. Emon stood before the collectors, now a giant of white light, and performed a 'Grand Audit of Fate.' He showed them that the kindness the djinns had spread in humanity had created a 'Surplus of Light' that outweighed the debt. He didn't just pay the debt; he bought the freedom of every jinni in existence. But the price was his own memory. To free them, Emon had to forget who he was. The chapter ends with Emon standing in the middle of the village, the djinns finally free and invisible, and Emon looking at his own hands, whispering, "Who am I?"
