Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: The Day Before Enrollment

A scream ripped through the Senju house like somebody had set off a fire alarm.

Kojiro didn't even open his eyes at first.

He just smiled into his pillow.

Oh? So the performance begins.

The scream came again, louder, sharper—mixed with the sound of fast footsteps slapping down the hallway.

A door slammed.

Then another.

Then—

His own door flew open so hard it smacked the wall.

"KOJIROOOOO!"

Kojiro rolled onto his back slowly, like a lazy king waking up for his subjects. Sunlight spilled across his sheets. He blinked once, calm as a lake.

Standing in the doorway was his younger sister.

Purple hair in a messy, half-brushed storm. Golden eyes blazing like she'd just witnessed a crime against nature. Her cheeks were a little pink, either from anger or embarrassment. Maybe both.

She pointed at him like she was about to sue him for emotional damages.

"You—You—What was that?!"

Kojiro yawned. Loudly. On purpose.

"What was what?" he asked, voice smooth and innocent.

His sister's jaw dropped.

"You know exactly what I'm talking about! My room! My—my—"

She seemed to struggle to find the words. Like her brain was buffering under pressure.

Kojiro watched her, amused.

Perfect. The confusion stage is important. It builds flavor.

His sister took a breath, then shouted:

"WHY WERE ALL MY PLUSHIES IN A CIRCLE LIKE A CULT?!"

Kojiro didn't react right away.

He just stared at her with the calm, dead-eyed confidence of someone who could lie to the police with a straight face.

"A cult?" he repeated. "That's a strong word."

"They were holding hands!" she snapped. "And they had sticky notes!"

Kojiro tilted his head. "Sticky notes?"

His sister's eye twitched.

"You wrote 'THE RABBIT HAS SPOKEN' on my bunny plush!"

Kojiro slowly covered his mouth with the blanket like he was trying to hide a grin.

It didn't work.

His sister's voice went up another octave.

"You did that! You absolutely did that!"

Kojiro sighed like a disappointed teacher.

"Mei," he said, dragging her name out like it was a lecture, "why would I waste my time doing something like that?"

Mei stomped into the room like she owned it, marched to his bed, and leaned over him.

"Because you're a demon!"

Kojiro gave her a bored look.

"Mm. Try again."

Mei grabbed a pillow from the chair and threw it at his face.

Kojiro caught it one-handed without even sitting up.

Mei froze.

Kojiro smiled. Small. Sharp.

Mei's eyes narrowed.

"…Stop acting cool."

Kojiro tossed the pillow back onto the bed with zero effort.

"I'm not acting," he said. "This is just my default."

Mei's expression twisted between rage and disbelief.

"You're—You're so annoying. You're so—so—so smug!"

Kojiro shrugged.

"That's because I'm right."

Mei grabbed his blanket like she was about to yank it off.

Kojiro's smile vanished instantly.

Not from fear.

From warning.

Mei paused.

Kojiro looked at her, quiet and cold.

Mei swallowed.

"…Why are you looking at me like that?"

Kojiro's voice dropped, lazy but edged.

"Because if you pull that blanket, I'm going to ruin your life before breakfast."

Mei stared.

Kojiro stared back.

Then Mei suddenly let go, stepped back, and crossed her arms hard.

"Tch."

Kojiro smirked again, satisfied.

Balance restored.

From the hallway, a calmer voice floated in—soft, warm, and slightly tired.

"Mei? Kojiro? What are you two doing this early?"

Mei's head snapped toward the doorway.

"Mom! He—he—he did something!"

Kojiro rolled his eyes.

Of course. The summoning ritual: Call Mother.

A moment later, their mother appeared.

Yumiko Senju walked in like the house belonged to her—because it did.

Silver hair fell neatly over her shoulders, smooth and bright like moonlight. Golden eyes, calm and sharp at the same time, scanned the room and landed on Kojiro with a look that said she already knew he was guilty of something.

She wore a simple home outfit, but even that looked expensive on her. Like the universe was being unfair on purpose.

Behind her, their father's silhouette appeared in the hallway.

Tetsuya Senju.

Tall. Broad shoulders. Dark purple hair combed back neatly. Red eyes that made him look like he could stare through steel.

He didn't step in right away.

He stayed just outside the door, arms folded, watching like this was a show he didn't want to admit he enjoyed.

Mei pointed at Kojiro again like a prosecutor.

"Mom! He turned my room into a plushie cult!"

Yumiko blinked once.

"A… what?"

Mei talked fast, flustered.

"All my plushies were in a circle and there were notes and one said the rabbit has spoken and—"

Yumiko's eyes flicked to Kojiro.

Kojiro lifted a hand.

"Good morning, Mother."

Yumiko didn't respond to the greeting.

Her voice stayed calm, but it had that mother-tone.

"Kojiro."

Kojiro sighed.

"Yes?"

"Did you do this?"

Kojiro stared at her like he was thinking deeply.

Then he said, with perfect seriousness:

"I would never."

Mei's mouth fell open again.

"LIAR!"

Kojiro turned his head slightly.

"Strong accusation."

Mei clenched her fists.

"Admit it!"

Kojiro kept his voice lazy.

"Prove it."

Mei's face went red.

"You—You—!"

Yumiko raised her hand gently, cutting Mei off.

"Mei, breathe."

Mei huffed, still glaring.

Yumiko looked back at Kojiro.

Her golden eyes softened just a little, but not enough to be fooled.

"Kojiro, I'm asking seriously."

Kojiro stared at her for a second.

Then he smiled.

Not sweet.

Not kind.

More like a prince enjoying the panic of the crowd.

"…Okay," he admitted. "I did it."

Mei's jaw dropped.

Yumiko didn't look shocked.

Tetsuya, still in the doorway, let out a quiet sound that might've been a cough.

Or a laugh he murdered in his throat.

Mei exploded.

"WHY?!"

Kojiro stretched, finally sitting up.

"Because you needed spiritual guidance."

Mei stared at him like she was about to cry.

"You're insane!"

Kojiro nodded.

"Yes."

Mei looked toward their father like she expected justice.

"Dad! Say something!"

Tetsuya stepped into the room at last. His presence filled it without effort.

He looked at Kojiro for a long moment.

Then said, very calmly:

"Kojiro."

Kojiro met his eyes without flinching.

"Yes, Father?"

Tetsuya's lips twitched.

Just slightly.

"Don't let your mother find the notes you didn't want Mei to read."

Mei froze.

Yumiko's eyes narrowed.

Kojiro's smile widened.

Damn. Dad's sharper than he looks.

Mei spun on Kojiro.

"What notes?!"

Kojiro held up both hands.

"No notes."

Mei lunged for him.

Kojiro slid off the bed smoothly, stepping back like he'd done this dance a thousand times.

Yumiko sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose.

"Tetsuya…"

Tetsuya's face returned to stone.

"I didn't say anything."

Kojiro looked at Mei, amused.

"You're really emotional in the mornings."

Mei looked like she might actually bite him.

"I'LL BURY YOU!"

Kojiro tilted his head.

"Try."

Mei made a sound that wasn't human and stomped out of the room like a war drum.

Her footsteps faded down the hallway.

The house fell quiet.

Yumiko stared at Kojiro like she was weighing whether to scold him or laugh.

"Kojiro," she said, softer now, "you're leaving tomorrow."

Kojiro shrugged.

"And?"

Yumiko walked closer, fixing the collar of his sleep shirt like he was still a child.

"Don't start a war with your sister the day before you go."

Kojiro let her adjust him without resistance.

"She started it."

Yumiko gave him a look.

Kojiro smirked.

"…Okay," he admitted. "I started it."

Tetsuya stepped forward, voice calm.

"Breakfast in fifteen minutes."

Kojiro nodded.

"Got it."

Yumiko lightly tapped his forehead with her finger.

"And wash your face. You look too proud for someone who just confessed to plushie terrorism."

Kojiro grinned.

"Pride is my religion."

Yumiko sighed again, but there was a faint smile in it.

She and Tetsuya left the room.

Kojiro was alone.

He looked down at his wrist.

The Omnitrix sat there like it had always belonged.

Green symbol. Smooth black and white casing.

It didn't blink. It didn't hum. It just existed, like a silent promise.

Kojiro flexed his fingers.

Then he slowly brought his wrist closer to his face.

Tomorrow, I step into that school.

Classroom of the Elite.

A place that chewed people up with smiles and rules.

A place where lying was normal, kindness was currency, and "friendship" was a weapon.

Kojiro's crimson eyes gleamed.

And he was bringing a cosmic war watch into it.

He got up, washed his face, brushed his hair back, and stared at himself in the mirror.

Silver hair. Crimson eyes. A strong build that looked like it came from years of training and genetics that hated other families.

Kojiro smiled at his reflection.

"…Yeah," he murmured. "I'm disgusting."

He didn't mean it as an insult.

More like admiration.

Then he tugged his sleeve down over the Omnitrix.

It vanished under fabric.

Stay hidden. For now.

Breakfast smelled expensive.

The Senju dining room was clean, bright, and quiet in that rich-family way, like even the air had manners.

Kojiro sat down like he owned the table.

Because he did. In a way.

Yumiko sat across from him, posture straight, hands neat.

Tetsuya sat at the head, calm as always.

Mei sat beside their mother, arms crossed hard, staring at Kojiro like he was a virus.

Kojiro smiled at her.

Mei's eye twitched.

Yumiko cleared her throat.

"Mei," she said gently, "eat."

Mei didn't take her eyes off Kojiro.

"I will," Mei muttered. "After I watch him choke."

Kojiro took a bite of toast.

"Aw," he said casually. "She cares."

Mei made a strangled sound.

Tetsuya sipped his coffee.

Kojiro noticed something about his father then.

Even sitting, Tetsuya had that quiet pressure. Like people naturally watched him without realizing.

Kojiro respected it.

Not because he feared it.

Because it was clean.

Power, without begging for attention.

Kojiro's kind of power was uglier.

More playful.

More violent.

He liked that.

Yumiko placed a small folder beside Kojiro's plate.

Kojiro looked at it.

"What's this?"

Yumiko's smile was soft.

"Your final documents."

Kojiro blinked.

"Already?"

Tetsuya's voice was even.

"The school sent the last confirmation last night."

Kojiro paused mid-bite.

His heart didn't race.

His hands didn't shake.

But inside—

Here it is.

Kojiro swallowed calmly, wiped his mouth, and opened the folder like he was opening a menu.

A clean letter. A printed form.

His name.

His student number.

And—

Class: 1-D

Kojiro stared at the letter.

Then he smiled.

Slow.

Deep.

Like the universe had just handed him a front-row ticket.

Mei noticed.

"What are you smiling about?" she snapped.

Kojiro didn't look up.

"Nothing."

Mei leaned closer.

"Tell me."

Kojiro finally looked at her.

His smile sharpened.

"I got the class I wanted."

Mei blinked.

"What class?"

Kojiro tapped the paper lightly.

"Class 1-D."

Mei stared for a second.

Then she scoffed.

"…Isn't that the lowest one?"

Kojiro nodded.

"Yep."

Mei's brows furrowed.

"Why are you happy about that? Shouldn't you be in A?"

Kojiro shrugged.

"A is boring."

Mei looked genuinely confused.

Yumiko watched Kojiro carefully.

"Kojiro," she said gently, "are you sure you're okay with that?"

Kojiro looked at his mother.

His expression softened, just a little.

"I'm fine."

Yumiko's eyes searched his face like she was trying to catch a lie.

Kojiro didn't give her one.

Tetsuya set his cup down.

"Class placement is not an insult," he said calmly. "It's a message."

Kojiro looked at his father.

Tetsuya's red eyes were steady.

"You were placed in D for a reason."

Kojiro smiled again.

"I know."

Mei frowned.

"What reason?"

Kojiro leaned back in his chair like he was about to say something wise.

Then he said:

"Because the school wants entertainment."

Mei stared.

"That makes no sense."

Kojiro grinned.

"It will."

He looked down at the paper again.

Class 1-D.

That meant…

Horikita Suzune.

Hirata Yousuke.

Kushida Kikyo.

Ike.

Sudou.

And—

Kiyotaka Ayanokoji.

Kojiro's eyes gleamed faintly.

So you're here too.

He didn't feel fear.

He didn't feel pressure.

He felt something close to excitement.

Like a predator walking into a crowded room.

Yumiko spoke softly.

"You're smiling again."

Kojiro looked up.

"Sorry. I just…" He paused, choosing words that sounded normal. "I think it'll be fun."

Mei muttered, "He's sick."

Kojiro smiled at her again.

Mei shoved a piece of bacon into her mouth aggressively.

Tetsuya's voice stayed calm.

"Tomorrow, we can have a driver take you."

Kojiro waved a hand.

"No."

Yumiko blinked.

"No?"

Kojiro nodded.

"I'll take the bus."

Mei almost choked.

"The bus?!"

Kojiro looked at her like she'd said something stupid.

"Yes. The bus."

Mei stared.

"Why would you do that? We have a driver!"

Kojiro smirked.

"Because I want to."

Tetsuya didn't argue right away.

He studied Kojiro.

Kojiro met his gaze without blinking.

Tetsuya finally nodded once.

"Fine."

Yumiko looked a little worried.

But she didn't fight it.

Mei glared.

"You're doing it just to be annoying."

Kojiro pointed at her with his fork.

"Correct."

Mei threw a napkin at him.

Kojiro caught it.

Mei's eye twitched again.

Kojiro felt the urge to laugh.

Tomorrow morning… that bus scene happens. I'll be there.

I'll see him.

Ayanokoji.

The White Room masterpiece pretending to be average.

Kojiro's smile became smaller.

More serious.

I'm going to get close to you.

Not to control you.

Not to worship you.

To help you.

And maybe… to drag you into the sunlight whether you like it or not.

He leaned back again, relaxed.

But first—Class D needs help.

He didn't care about "risk."

He didn't care about "attention."

He had the Omnitrix under his sleeve.

He had ten aliens.

He had a million more locked away behind green light.

He had a trump card so big it was almost unfair.

Kojiro chewed slowly, eyes calm.

Only cowards hide forever.

I'm not a coward.

After breakfast, Kojiro went upstairs.

He shut his door, locked it, and sat at his desk.

A neat setup waited for him—laptop, tablet, books, papers.

The life of a rich kid who was "raised properly."

Kojiro stared at the stack of study material.

Then he laughed quietly.

I could spend hours on this…

His sleeve slid back.

The Omnitrix was there.

Kojiro's thumb hovered near the dial.

He didn't hesitate.

He didn't think, Is this dangerous?

He thought, How fast can I do this?

He clicked the dial.

The silhouettes rotated.

Kojiro's eyes landed on the small one.

He smirked.

"Gray Matter."

Green light flashed.

His body folded inward like reality was squeezing him down.

Bones compressed.

Muscles melted into smaller structure.

His world expanded in detail as his body shrank.

And then—

A tiny, slick-bodied Galvan stood on the desk, barely taller than a mug.

"Gray Matter."

His voice came out higher, sharper, but still him.

Kojiro blinked—tiny eyelids, wide vision.

His brain…

His brain felt like a storm.

Not messy.

Not loud.

Just fast.

Everything made sense faster than it should.

He looked at the books and didn't see words.

He saw patterns.

Meaning.

Structure.

His mind reached for the laptop like it was a toy.

His little fingers moved fast, almost too fast to follow.

"Infant stuff," he muttered, bold voice crisp with smugness.

He opened the school's documents.

Rules.

Schedules.

Basic info.

He read it all in minutes.

He didn't even "study."

He absorbed.

Then he opened his own school notes—math, language, history.

He scanned them and felt them lock into place like files being sorted.

"So that's what 'easy' feels like," he said, almost laughing.

His brain poked at a thought.

Could I hack the Omnitrix like Ben did?

He looked at the watch on his wrist.

"Maybe," he admitted. "But not yet."

He tapped the Omnitrix symbol and returned to human form.

Kojiro sat back in his chair, staring at his hands.

The knowledge didn't fade.

It stayed.

Clean.

Stored.

He smiled.

Tests are going to be a joke.

He leaned forward, elbows on desk, fingers interlocked.

This changes everything.

Not in a dramatic, world-ending way.

In a simple way.

He could choose how he played the school.

He could be average.

He could be top.

He could be invisible.

Or he could be a problem.

Kojiro's smile widened.

I like being a problem.

Late morning.

Kojiro went down the stairs.

Mei was in the living room, sitting on the floor with a couple plushies like she was inspecting them for betrayal.

She glanced up when Kojiro walked in.

Her eyes narrowed.

Kojiro waved at her cheerfully.

"Hey."

Mei's voice was flat.

"I counted them."

Kojiro paused.

"…Counted what?"

"My plushies," she said. "To make sure none are missing."

Kojiro nodded like he understood.

"That's smart."

Mei stared at him.

Then she said quietly, dead serious:

"If you touch them again, I'll shave your head in your sleep."

Kojiro blinked.

Then grinned.

"I respect the threat."

Mei's cheeks went pink again.

"Tch."

Kojiro walked past her, calm.

She's cute when she's angry.

He stopped near the front door.

Yumiko's voice came from behind him.

"Kojiro."

He turned.

Yumiko stood in the hallway, arms folded, eyes gentle.

"Where are you going?"

Kojiro shrugged.

"Out."

Yumiko tilted her head.

"Out where?"

Kojiro smiled.

"To breathe."

Yumiko's eyes narrowed slightly.

Kojiro raised both hands.

"Relax. I'm not disappearing."

Yumiko sighed, but she didn't press too hard.

Tetsuya's voice came from deeper in the house.

"Don't be late for dinner."

Kojiro called back, "Yes, sir."

He slipped on shoes and stepped outside.

The air felt clean.

The sky looked normal.

And Kojiro's sleeve covered the Omnitrix like it was just a watch.

He walked toward the private training space his family owned—an empty, reinforced warehouse on one of their properties.

Security recognized him instantly.

No questions.

No delays.

A rich kid perk.

Kojiro liked perks.

Inside, the warehouse was quiet.

Concrete floor.

High ceiling.

Old training mats stacked in the corner.

A few metal targets used for physical practice.

No cameras in the central space—his father didn't like recordings in private areas.

Kojiro rolled his shoulders.

Perfect.

He pulled his sleeve back.

The Omnitrix gleamed.

Kojiro's grin grew.

"Alright," he murmured. "One more test run before I go play school."

He clicked the dial.

His eyes landed on the bulky silhouette he hadn't used yet.

The heavy one.

The one that looked like a walking furnace.

Kojiro's heartbeat didn't speed up from fear.

It sped up from curiosity.

He spoke the name out loud, clear.

"NRG."

Green light exploded.

His body expanded and thickened.

Heat rolled off him like a wave.

His skin vanished under a containment suit that felt like an oven wrapped around his soul.

Metal weight settled over him.

His breathing sounded different.

Heavy.

He turned his head and heard the suit creak slightly.

And then—

"NRG!"

The voice that came out wasn't normal.

It was thick.

Hot.

Like words spoken through a heater.

Kojiro lifted a hand slowly, staring at it.

Three slits on the suit.

A heavy, industrial look.

Power pressed against the inside of the metal casing, like something angry was trapped in him.

"Oh… that's nasty," he said, bold voice rumbling. "I love it."

He took a step.

The floor trembled a little from weight.

Heat radiated around him.

He could feel the air changing.

Kojiro looked toward a metal target in the distance.

He raised his hand and aimed.

"Let's not kill anything," he said casually. "Just… a little warning shot."

A bright, radioactive beam fired from the suit's vent with a harsh hiss.

It struck the metal target and blasted a scorched dent into it.

The sound echoed.

Kojiro stared.

Then laughed.

"Yeah, okay. That's insane."

He lowered his hand, feeling energy still buzzing inside the suit.

He turned slightly, testing movement.

The suit was heavy, but he still felt strong.

Strong enough to stop a plane.

Strong enough to knock down skyscrapers.

Kojiro shook his head.

"This is the kind of thing that gets me on a government watchlist," he muttered, amused. "Love that for me."

He looked down at the Omnitrix symbol on the suit.

Then he leaned closer to it like it was a friend.

"Hey," he said. "How bad is the radiation right now?"

The Omnitrix responded in its standard tone.

"Radiation levels are contained. External leakage: minimal."

Kojiro nodded.

"Good. I don't want to accidentally cook a bird."

He paused.

Then smirked.

"Unless it's a really annoying bird."

He walked around the warehouse, letting himself get used to the weight and heat.

Every step felt like power.

But also restraint.

Like being locked in a cage with a lion inside.

Kojiro stopped near the stacked mats.

"Okay," he said. "Now… can I get out?"

He reached to the containment suit's handle and pulled—

The suit opened.

And Kojiro felt it instantly.

The heat wasn't "around him."

It was him.

He became the glowing core.

A red, radioactive being, bright like a living ember.

Light spilled from his body.

He floated slightly without trying.

Kojiro stared at his own glowing hands.

"…Oh," he whispered, bold voice softer but still heavy. "So this is the real body."

He lifted into the air more.

Flight came natural.

And the power inside him felt freer.

More violent.

He held up a hand and formed a ball of energy.

It pulsed like a miniature sun.

Kojiro grinned.

"Yeah," he said. "This is a prank machine."

He imagined it for a second.

NRG at school.

Just walking into the classroom like a glowing demon.

Everyone screaming.

Teachers fainting.

Ayanokoji's face staying calm, but his eyes sharpening.

Kojiro laughed.

Then he lowered the energy ball and sighed.

"Not yet," he said. "We pace ourselves."

He tapped the Omnitrix symbol and returned to human form.

Kojiro stood there, breathing quietly.

His heart was calm.

His mind was calm.

But his eyes were alive.

I'm going into a school built to break people.

And I'm bringing monsters in my wrist.

Kojiro stretched his arms, cracking his neck.

Tomorrow's going to be fun.

Dinner was warm and loud.

Mei was still salty, but she'd moved on to passive-aggressive comments instead of murder threats.

Yumiko kept checking Kojiro like she was memorizing him before he left.

Tetsuya stayed calm, but he asked small questions—practical ones.

"Do you have your documents?"

"Yes."

"Your phone?"

"Yes."

"Emergency cash?"

Kojiro smirked.

"Father, I'm not going to prison."

Tetsuya's red eyes stayed steady.

"Don't tempt fate."

Kojiro laughed.

Mei poked her rice with chopsticks.

"Don't get expelled," she muttered.

Kojiro looked at her.

"That's your send-off?"

Mei's face went pink again.

"I'm just saying."

Kojiro smiled, softer.

"I won't."

Mei didn't look up.

"…Good."

Yumiko spoke quietly.

"You'll call?"

Kojiro nodded.

"Sure."

Yumiko studied him.

Kojiro held her gaze.

He wasn't fragile.

He wasn't scared.

But he understood what she was feeling.

Leaving wasn't a tragedy.

It was just change.

Still, he didn't need to be cruel about it.

He reached across the table and lightly tapped her hand.

"I'll be fine," he said. "Promise."

Yumiko's expression softened.

Tetsuya watched the exchange without interrupting.

Then he said, calm as ever:

"Kojiro."

Kojiro looked at him.

Tetsuya's voice was low.

"Whatever that school is… don't forget who you are."

Kojiro smiled slowly.

"Oh," he said. "I won't."

Inside his sleeve, the Omnitrix rested quietly.

Who I am…

I'm Senju Kojiro.

Heir.

Trickster.

Problem.

And soon…

A Class D student.

Kojiro leaned back, relaxed.

Let the story begin.

That night, Kojiro packed his bag.

Uniform.

Shoes.

Documents.

Basic supplies.

He stood in his room for a moment, looking at everything like he was taking a mental photo.

Then he sat on his bed and stared at the ceiling.

Tomorrow morning, he would ride that bus.

He would see the old woman.

He would see the boy refusing to give up his seat.

He would see the businesswoman.

He would see Horikita's cold eyes.

And Ayanokoji's quiet indifference.

Kojiro smiled faintly.

I wonder if I'll get involved.

He wasn't scared of consequences.

If anything, he welcomed them.

But he also wanted to watch.

To understand.

To feel the rhythm of the world again.

He pulled his sleeve back and stared at the Omnitrix.

Ten aliens.

A whole universe locked inside his wrist.

Kojiro whispered to it:

"Don't embarrass me tomorrow."

The Omnitrix responded plainly.

"Transformation system operational."

Kojiro grinned.

"Good."

He lay down, hands behind his head, eyes open in the dark.

Class 1-D.

Let's see how much I can change… without breaking the story.

He closed his eyes.

And the night held its breath.
