Chapter 79 - The test begins

Three years ago...

Luke was sitting next to Zombie, watching a few spars happen. Luke glanced at Zombie and asked, "Zombie, I have been wondering about something."

"What?" Zombie asked, his eyes focused on the fights that were happening.

"What exactly is your "pages of truth" ability?" Luke asked.

"Why do you want to know?" Zombie said, not in the mood to talk.

"Just curious," Luke replied.

Zombie sighed and started explaining, "As I have said before, my ability can transfer everything about them into a book, which is located in their body. Once I touch them, they faint and then I am able to access that book, meanin-"

"That's not what I was asking," Luke said. "There is a secret to it, right?"

Zombie slightly paused. His face turning towards Luke. "How...do you know?"

"I can just tell," Luke answered with a slight smile.

Zombie after a long moment of silence, finally told him. "My ability does in fact have a secret. Don't tell anyone but...I can revive myself. As long as my enemy doesn't hurt the area where my book is located, I can always live."

Present

Zombie sat up straight and he gasped for air. His hands were trembling and his skin was paler than ever. "Fuck...I just died. Thankfully he didn't hurt my leg, which has the book."

Zombie got up and looked around, realizing that he was now in a basement. "What the hell is that guy anyway? I thought he could revive dead bodies but...that doesn't seem very likely. Is it...possible for the books to be inaccurate...? No that can't be it."

Zombie sighed, "Anyway, I need to get out of here. Fast."

--------------------------

Ronx had forced Kael to go to school in a very long time.

He confidently walked into his class and put his bag down. Then he sat on his chair and put his legs on the table as if he owned the school, which he obviously doesn't. However, despite acting this arrogant and disrespectful, no one dared to stop him. Not even the teacher.

It was because of his father, Ronx Falcon. Every single student knew that if they messed with him, his father would step in. So they left him alone. Instead, the delinquents bullied the nerds.

Soon, the class started and everything was going well.

"Isn't that...Kael? It's been a long time since I have seen him," A girl whispered into her friend's ear.

"Is it me or has he gotten...a bit handsome?" The friend whispered back.

Kael had listened to everything and his ego was getting fed quite well due to these comments. "Maybe going to school isn't that bad after all," Kael thought. "Ah, who am I kidding? I would rather die than come here again."

After this, everything went smoothly until the second period, where a girl arrived, who was quite late. She had pink hair, a beautiful face and a smile that made the atmosphere much nicer. This girl was none other than the CEO's daughter, Rose.

It was the first time Kael had paid this much attention to her face or to her at all.

Kael always observes anyone new or late, its a habit of his. And now, he carefully looked at Rose's face and realized how pretty she looked. "Isn't that...the girl? Fuck, why the hell is she here?"

The teacher looked at the girl but didn't scold her for being late as she was a wealthy man's daughter. The teachers simply told her to sit on an empty seat.

And the only empty seat was next to Kael.

As soon as she noticed Kael, her face was a mix of shock and happiness. "Kael...! Didn't expect to meet you here!" She whispered into his ear, which made Kael slightly flinch.

"Y-Yeah, what a surprise, haha..." Kael said with a nervous smile. "Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! I can't even tear her into pieces because that stupid bodyguard might be watching!" Kael thought.

Kael exhaled and inhaled, calming his anger. Though, it was of no use since Rose kept trying to create small talk with him, causing Kael to not be able to focus on the lecture.

Finally, school ended and Kael was making his way home when an expensive, black stopped near him. Caspian got out and looked to be in a state of shock and despair. "Kael! Rose disappeared! We need your help!"

Kael paused and looked at him with a expression that said, "are you serious right now?"

Caspian noticed his expression and clarified. "When the bell rung, I was waiting for her and she was walking towards me like normal but just then, she suddenly disappeared. I am afraid we are dealing with power users."

Kael nodded throughout the entire dialogue of his and once it finished, he continued walking straight on the pathway, ignoring them completely.

"Hey! Where do you think you're going?" Caspian yelled.

"Home?" Kael answered.

"What about-" Before Caspian could finish his sentence, Kael spoke. "Whatever has happened to her isn't my problem. You are the bodyguard, not me. Shouldn't you be protecting her?"

Caspian looked at the floor, absolutely ashamed of himself.

Kael sighed. "Am I getting paid?"

Caspian slightly smiled, relief showing all over his face. "Yes. As much money as you want."

"Great. Lemme deal with them," Kael said, suddenly disappearing.

As soon as Kael disappeared, Caspian's face turned normal all of a sudden. The driver of the expensive car asked, "Sir, I thought you could use powers...?"

Caspian put his hands behind his back and turned towards the driver with a smirk on his face. "I can. However, I want to test if he is truly capable of protecting Rose...forever."

Caspian then slightly smiled, "Don't worry, everything is under control. If he can't do it then I'll step in and take care of everything."
