Chapter 10 - A Clash Of Emotions

Anna stared at her phone for a moment before typing a short reply.

I'm coming.

She slipped the phone back into her bag and sighed. The quiet moment at the cemetery had helped a little, but the sadness in her chest had not completely disappeared.

"Do you have to go now?" Helen asked gently.

Anna nodded. "If I don't, Vincent might actually lose his mind".

Helen gave a small laugh."Then i guess you should save the office from his temper".

Anna forced a smile and waved goodbye before heading toward the office.

By the time Anna pushed open the office door, the atmosphere inside felt tense. A few workers glanced up briefly before returning to their tasks. It didn't take long for Anna to notice Vincent standing near her desk. He was waiting.

The moment he saw her, his expression hardened."finally". He said sharply. Anna paused for a second before walking toward him.

"I told you I was coming", she replied calmly.

Vincent crossed his arms, his jaw tight with anger.

"You're late Anna,very late".

She didn't answer.

"Do you think this is a game? He continued, his voice colder now.

"Because if you keep acting like this, you might as well prepare to lose your job".

For a moment, the room felt completely silent. The sadness Anna had been holding back all day suddenly mixed with anger.

"You know what, Vincent?" She said, her voice shaking.

"You are unbelievable"

Vincent frowned."excuse me?"

"You're selfish," Anna snapped."you only think about yourself and your work",

Vincent's expression changed. But Anna continued before he could speak .

"You never stop to think that other people might have real problems too!" Her chest Rose and fell as emotion filled her voice.

"I'm not some machine that exists only to make your life easier".

With that, Anna turned sharply, ready to walk away. But before she could take more than two steps, Vincent suddenly reached out and grabbed her wrist.

"Anna" he said firmly.

She stopped but didn't turn around. His grip wasn't rough, but it was enough to stop her. The tension between them felt heavier than ever .
