Chapter 76 - Tragic, Malfoy, Tragic

In the past, when Kate was in a bad mood, she was accustomed to locking herself in her room to be alone.

When she first transmigrated, she would sit by the window every night watching the stars, and not even the old butler could get close to her. Although the stars were no longer visible now, she could still watch the fish in the Black Lake.

After finishing her work for Professor Sprout, Kate left the greenhouse and returned to the Slytherin Common Room alone, planning to sleep from the afternoon all the way until the next morning. Often, as long as she had a good sleep, her mood wouldn't be so terrible.

However, there were always one or two blind fools who insisted on provoking her at a time like this.

"Isn't this Shafiq? Why aren't you sticking together with your little Gryffindor girlfriend?"

Malfoy appeared at the entrance of the Common Room with his two followers, dragging out his tone and lifting his chin arrogantly to look at her.

Kate frowned. "What little girlfriend? Don't talk nonsense."

"In the entire Slytherin, who doesn't know you're in love with Granger, that... Muggle-born stupid lion?" Malfoy continued to smile disdainfully.

Children of this age were the ones who least understood what 'like' meant, yet they did not hesitate to use 'like' as a weapon to slander others. He thought saying this would humiliate Kate.

But in the next second, he and his followers could no longer laugh.

Kate quietly drew her wand and sent the three annoying fellows before her flying directly like kites.

Under the effect of the Levitation Charm, the three of them screamed as they floated in the air, then were pulled by Kate's Mana to the ceiling before plummeting rapidly. Just like a roller coaster, she flung the three of them around several times before finally hanging them against the stone wall.

"I warn you, Malfoy," her expression was uglier than ever before. "Spreading rumors indiscriminately comes with a price."

She and Hermione—one was twelve, the other eleven. In ordinary families, they would still be crying on their parents' laps. Yet in this guy's mouth, they were inexplicably starting to date? Truly, not learning anything good at a young age, daring to say anything.

"You... you let me down!" experiencing the helplessness from Flying Class once again, Malfoy shouted in a trembling voice, "Otherwise I'm going to tell the Head of House!"

Kate gave a cold snort, completely devoid of her usual gentle and harmless appearance. She deliberately walked up to Malfoy and whispered in his ear, "Go ahead and tell if you have the ability, assuming you don't want your legs broken by me."

She raised an eyebrow. "That's right. I have plenty of ways to make you disabled. Sneak attacks, potions, hiring someone to act in the dark—anything works. You will never be able to guard against it, nor will you find evidence."

"Even if your father comes, at most he can only get me expelled. But if I don't study at Hogwarts, I can go to Durmstrang or Beauxbatons. But you... you will only be disabled for a lifetime."

Compared to losing one's life, such an insult would be even more unbearable for a Young Master with eyes on the top of his head.

As she spoke, she actually laughed. "Noble Young Master Malfoy, are you ready to be unable to walk for the rest of your life?"

This was the first time she had used such cruel words to intimidate a child. Barring any accidents, it should also be the last. Yet, looking at Malfoy, who was crying and screaming from her scare, Kate's heart unexpectedly felt a rare sense of cheerfulness.

Since entering Slytherin so long ago, this was the first time she had vented her emotions. She hadn't expected it would be because Malfoy spread rumors about her and Hermione.

It wasn't until the System notification sounded in her brain that Kate snapped back to reality, hearing a burst of conversation coming from a corner not far away. Someone was coming.

Kate waved her wand to put the three down. Watching the fearful look Malfoy gave her as he slumped on the ground, the original cheerfulness in her heart somehow turned into a heavy boulder, weighing down on her chest. It forced her to the point where she could barely breathe.

Kate gritted her teeth. Before the voices got any closer, she cast a Memory Charm on the three people in front of her, then turned and quickly entered the Common Room.

Blaise and his companions walked around the corner and immediately saw the Malfoy trio paralyzed on the ground. They hurriedly ran over to help the three up.

"Draco, what happened to you guys? Draco!"

His voice pulled Malfoy back from a bout of daze. The Young Master, whose robes were filthy from the fall, stood up with his help, only to discover that his legs were actually trembling slightly.

"I... what happened to me just now?" He looked back at his two followers with a bewildered face.

Crabbe and Goyle also shook their heads respectively.

Seeing this, Blaise said somewhat helplessly, "The dungeon lighting must be too dim and you guys accidentally fell. Hurry back to the dormitory and change your clothes."

They hadn't learned the Scouring Charm yet.

"Oh... alright." Malfoy shook his head with effort, only remembering the image of himself accidentally stepping on his robes and falling as soon as he stepped out of the Common Room.

He could only curse his bad luck before returning to the Common Room with Blaise's support.

At this moment, Kate was still sitting on the sofa in the Common Room, pretending to be reading the latest Daily Prophet as if nothing had happened.

If someone observed carefully, they would discover that although her gaze seemed focused on the newspaper, her hands were trembling slightly.

Malfoy limped back into the Common Room. Seeing her there, although he was somewhat surprised, he still habitually wanted to open his mouth to mock her. But before he could, Kate shifted her gaze from the newspaper to him first.

For some reason, as soon as Malfoy saw her cold gaze, his body shivered subconsciously. Even the words that were on the tip of his tongue couldn't be spoken.

Kate immediately folded the newspaper and placed it on the table, stood up, and brushed past him as if nothing had happened, heading straight into the girls' dormitory.

Malfoy stood frozen in place, somewhat stunned. It wasn't until Blaise spoke up to remind him that he reacted, turning around with an inexplicable expression to look at her retreating figure.

He was actually afraid of that kind of guy? How was that possible! It must be an illusion!

Cheering himself up secretly, Malfoy was already thinking about what tone to use to provoke Kate next time. Next time, he definitely had to make Shafiq jump with anger!

He tried hard to straighten his body, avoiding Blaise's support, and walked with difficulty toward the boys' dormitory.

Meanwhile, Kate hid in her dormitory. Hearing the sounds outside gradually subside, the tightly knit furrow between her brows failed to dissipate for a long time.

In a fit of anger just now, she had actually used such language to threaten an eleven-year-old child. This made her, who prided herself on being an adult and much calmer than a minor, very unaccustomed.

Was it because she had suddenly realized her own ambition, and also because Malfoy's words had insulted Hermione, that she acted this way?

She sighed and squatted weakly on the ground.

Raising her head, there were no stars on the ceiling, and outside was also pitch black, with only a few scattered small fish swimming by.
