He ignored the feat for now. His Flames clearly did something, but trying to figure out what without any additional context was pointless. So it was better to ask Reborn later, instead of needlessly worrying. Besides, his instincts told him that it was not harmful to him; instead, it almost hummed with soft contentment.
With that done, he continued going through his classes for the day. The tension and attention from the student body spread like a wild plague throughout the day, and eventually, even the teachers were giving him odd looks, but that was to be expected.
Gossip was something that was just human nature. He spent some time talking with Hana when he could, but he did not do it much. He did not want to bother her when she was clearly trying to pay attention in class, and she also seemed rather distracted when talking to him.
Other than chatting, he just stuck to trying his best to pay attention and take notes, except in English and Japanese. In those classes, he tried to home in on his flames.
He could feel them bubbling underneath the surface now that he could recognize the signs. The steady warmth that sang a lullaby and the all-consuming well that raged and billowed in all directions. The two flames were so distinctly different, but despite their opposition, there was no conflict in his body; in fact, the two flames melded and interacted with each other as if they were always meant to do so.
He almost thought that was everything, but he could see one more type of flame inside his orange flames. A soft purple flame, barely the size of a grain of rice, flickered weakly in the center of his flame. That flame felt distinctly foreign but was resting contentedly in his orange flame, almost reluctant to leave but drifting throughout that domain.
He tried to interact with each flame, willing them to move underneath his command, but he was having little luck in that. The flames clearly heard his call, but when they moved to respond, that icy feeling he thought left him came back. It was weak and not anything like the bone-chilling frost it was before, but it was stopping him from interacting with his flames directly.
He gritted his teeth, and the all-consuming storm inside of him rebelled at that thought, but he let it go for now. He could tell that his flames were running through the cracks he formed, and it was only a matter of time before that Seal was completely broken.
What was interesting was that he could not call out to that purple flame at all. It just sat in the center of his flame and seemed to ignore his will entirely. No, there was a change when he called out to it, but it did not come from the purple. When he called out to the purple flame, his orange ones protectively covered the small grain and sang a different melody to it.
No longer melding with the deep well of crimson but mixing and protecting that small grain. He almost stopped calling out to that grain, but he watched as that small flickering flame increased ever so slightly as his orange flames melded, the weak flickering coming from it halting as the purple flames almost seemed to purr with contentment.
He hesitated for a moment before deciding to concentrate on feeding that flame in those classes. He could not practice his control, so he might as well feed that flame and see what happens. Maybe that flame would help out his other flames in destroying the shackles that bound him.
Other than that, the school day was not really that interesting. He did not have the opportunity to show off much. The teachers had long since given up on asking him questions, and PE was one of the classes he missed in the morning.
A waste as he could have gotten more tickets, but it was just a delay of one day. He wanted more and more power to protect what was important to him, but he should not let that want consume him.
The school day finished, and Tsuna left quickly; he still had a blazer to return. He made a promise, and he was not going to break it for nothing.
He used the opportunity to run towards her school, not using Time Accel as this was not an important thing. While that ability was useful, it accelerated his own timeline. So he should not use it so willy-nilly from now on; every second accelerating was cutting down his future life span.
That thought had Tsuna frowning deeply, but there was not much he could do about that. He already used it after all. At least he only used it for brief moments of combat. Perhaps a couple of minutes of life span spent.
As he ran down the road, he felt a weight settle on his shoulder as Reborn landed.
"Ciaosuu," Reborn spoke out calmly as he stood on Tsuna's shoulder. The small toddler, for once, did not have that smug grin on its face. In fact, it was giving him an odd look. Reborn was clearly bothered by something, but he was not willing to bring it up himself.
"Finally showed up. You happy with yourself? Hibari is going to hound me for the rest of my life." Tsuna spoke out with a roll of his eyes, not really caring about what was bothering the toddler.
Tsuna's attitude seemed to snap Reborn out of his mood as his lips twitched and let out a small chuckle.
"I'm always happy with myself, Tsuna. Regret is simply not a word in my dictionary. Besides, that was exactly the outcome I wanted." Reborn stated smugly as he sat on Tsuna's shoulders and rested instead of standing.
Tsuna was tempted to try to fling him off, but he knew it would be a failure. The small creature did what it wanted, and there was not a thing Tsuna could do. At least for now.
"Hey, so you said I have Sky Flames and Storm Flames. You going to explain what those flames are?" Tsuna asked, digging for the information from his tutor. If this thing was going to intrude on his life, it was going to be useful to Tsuna.
"Well, those flames are who you are. The crystallization of your very being burns on the spark of an ironclad will. Named as they are because one needs the resolve to put everything into their actions, quite literally a dying will." Reborn explained, watching him as if trying to see something.
Tsuna frowned as he took in that information.
"When you say burning, that implies that there needs to be a fuel to that fire. What is the cost of that? Am I consuming my life span every time I use them?" Tsuna asked with a frown. He already had an ability that consumed his future time; he did not want all of his abilities to do the same.
Although something told him that speculation was wrong. The flames burning softly underneath his skin certainly did not make him feel weaker.
Reborn again looked at him for a good long moment, the curiosity in his gaze seeming to almost overtake him for a moment before it settled.
"You're not wrong about them consuming something, but you are not right either. Dying Will Flames burn off of your will and the excess activity of your cells. So when using them, you might encounter mental strain, but your body will not collapse from their use. In fact, extended use of those flames will increase cell activity passively, leading to a longer life and a generally better physique. Although, as in all things, you can push too hard; this is a will to face death with clarity. So you can consume your life span and other aspects of yourself to push your Flames far beyond what they are capable of, but if you try that, I'm going to kick your ass." Reborn explained calmly, a glint in his eyes promising that he was not joking.
Tsuna felt relief. That fit what he was feeling, and it was not a power that would slowly consume him till there was nothing left. Reborn let out a hum as he saw that Tsuna understood everything he was saying.
"You said I had Storm and Sky flames, right? I assume there are other categories as well and that they have their own abilities." Tsuna asked. He vaguely understood what the red one did. It consumed, not quite burning like a flame, more like destruction itself.
"There are seven categories in Flames. Cloud, Lightning, Mist, Rain, Storm, Sun, and finally Sky." Reborn explained quietly.
"Ah, all related to the sky in some way. Considering you needed to confirm I had Sky Flames before you declared I was the Vongola Heir, I assume Sky Flames are rather rare." Tsuna spoke out with an odd look on his face.
Judging from the names, the ever-demanding and expanding crimson was the storm. He would not put the mellow soft feeling from the orange as something like a storm after all.
Out of those two Flames, the Storm flames felt more special. They held a property to them, and while the Sky Flames felt fine, they did not fill him with the raw power he felt from the crimson.
Reborn let out a chuckle and again gave him an odd look.
"Yes, Sky flames are the rarest and most important flames to a Famiglia. Cloud flames represent the free nature of a drifting cloud, ever present but distant from others, much like Clouds themselves; the flames represent propagation. Users multiply non-biological material usually, but a true monster could propagate a certain part of their body, making them effectively immortal and giving enemies cancer if they wished." Reborn explained simply.
Tsuna's eyes went wide as he pictured a nigh-unkillable man who could burst opponents open into gore as they multiplied their insides. A shudder ran down his spine. He really was just touching the tip of the iceberg as far as the supernatural went.
"Lightning is next. A bottled storm of pressure, quick to act and decisive in everything. Flashy and almost erratic, but the stable line between a storm and the earth below it. Users of Lightning hold domain over Stability. Often using their Flames to increase the stability of their bodies or items. A proper monster of these flames should be capable of hardening things into a complete state, quite literally an immovable object." Reborn explained with a dull tone, an almost mocking smile on his face for a moment.
Tsuna raised an eyebrow, but let it pass.
"Mist, vague and covering the world's eyes. Never showing what they truly are but making sure that not a soul could find out the sky that bounds it. Snakes through and through, often only caring for themselves but almost desperate to be understood despite their own nature. Users of this flame hold domain over Illusion. A monster of this flame could twist the world into whatever they wanted, turning the unreal to the real." Reborn spoke out with a frown.
Tsuna took that information in and hesitated for a moment before interrupting Reborn.
"You keep making comparisons to personality with these Flames. Do the flames change who you are as a person?" Tsuna asked with a deep frown. He had two flames already and was feeding another flame inside his Sky. Would Tsuna stop being himself and become more like the Flames themselves if he collected more?
Reborn let out a light hum for a moment.
"Yes and no. The Flames are deeply connected to the personality of a person, and they tend to lead a person to act in certain ways, but they are also a complete and utter representation of who you are. Only leading you towards actions you were likely to do anyway. It's less that the Flames make a person and more that a Person makes a Flame." Reborn explained with a small shrug.
Tsuna frowned. That made sense, but it did not completely dispel his worries. He was nurturing a flame inside of him after all. He was tempted to snuff out that flame inside of him to stop that influence, but he felt a sharp, almost visceral rejection of such a thought.
His body was almost screaming that such actions would be against every cell in his body. He shuddered and dropped the thought for now, but shelved it; he was not going to let himself be consumed by these flames.
Seeing the silence from Tsuna, Reborn continued.
"Rain, calm and steady, a nurturing force that falls gently on all those that meet it. It calms the storm and lets the world weep. Users of this flame hold dominion over Stillness. Users often use their flames to still objects and halt momentum. A true monster could have the world stand still in its wake." Reborn spoke out quietly, but there was that smug grin on its face again.
"Storm is next, and this one is probably more relevant to you. The storm is wrathful, raging at the world around it and letting its winds batter whatever holds its attention. Aggressive and utterly chaotic but never purposeless, the storm is there for a reason, and it is steadfast in that goal. Users of this Flame hold dominion over Disintegration, decaying and consuming anything in its path. A monster of this Flame could consume everything and anything that even vaguely looked in its direction." Reborn spoke out. This time, there was an almost grudging respect in his tone that had Tsuna shocked.
Tsuna assumed Reborn only had two modes: smug and annoying.
"Sun is next. Bright and cheerful, bundles of pure energy, and ever so pleasant to be around. A Sun never stops moving and burns with the intensity of a hundred men with everything they do. Users of these flames hold dominion over Activity, often using their flames to push their bodies to limits beyond the norm. A monster of this flame would have a physique only gods could envy: speed, power, durability, charm, the whole nine yards. Capable of outputting so much energy they could blow up a country if they wanted." Reborn explained solemnly as if this was gospel.
Tsuna blinked and gave the small creature an odd look.
"Finally, we have Sky, all-encompassing. Accepting all in its domain and dragging the world in its rotation. It holds the storm close while letting the lightning rage, holding the ever-distant cloud while letting the mist slip out of its grasp. A sky is the glue that holds everything together; leaders who have charm so strong that the world is forced to listen. Users of this Flame hold the domain of Harmony. Using their flames to bind all other flames and mixing with them to create brand new flames. I'm sure you noticed your Storm and Sky flames mixing and the result of that." Reborn explained.
Tsuna again blinked at that, feeling utterly confused for a moment. He understood what the Storm represented to him, but the Sky? He had no idea how it connected to him. Charming? Tsuna would bet his left foot that word had nothing to do with him.
He was confident now, but he was absolutely certain he could not talk his way out of a wet paper bag. He barely managed to convince Haru that he was not a perverted streaker.
He felt relief as his concerns over the flames taking over his personality. Clearly, they were not a strong influence. It was most likely the Hanma trait that had his personality facing such a sharp difference.
With that worry gone, he concentrated on the effects of the Sky Flame.
"I can see the Sky and Storm mixing. The flame acts more like a flame burning and consuming. A whole lot stronger than either flame by itself." Tsuna spoke out as he looked inside and got a better handle on what the flames were doing.
This must be the Harmonizing that the Chaos Gacha was talking about.
"Yes, those flames are called the Flames of Wrath. It amplifies the Storm's disintegration and incorporates the Sky's Harmony with Flames. Letting the Storm not just consume living material but flames themselves." Reborn explained quickly, and Tsuna considered those words.
He should probably get back to mixing those two Flames as that would accelerate the Seal degradation, considering their abilities. The Seed that was lying dormant in his Sky would wait until he was whole again.
"It looks like I have another Flame as well. There is a soft speck of Purple in my Sky Flames. It's weak and could be snuffed out with a stiff breeze, but it is there." Tsuna explained, hoping to get more information out of Reborn. There was a mix for Sky and Storm, so there was probably a mix of Sky and this purple as well. Knowing what his future power entailed was important.
Reborn froze on his shoulder, turning mechanically towards Tsuna and giving him a flat look.
"Inside your Sky? Are you certain it's inside, not outside of it?" Reborn asked with a hint of confusion filling his tone.
Tsuna blinked at that and just nodded back at him, confused.
"Harmonization already? But who? The little beast had only just started reaching out, and his Flame would not be so weak." Reborn muttered to himself as he tried to figure something out.
Tsuna's ears perked up at the word Harmonization but frowned in confusion over the context.
"What does Harmonization mean? I thought Sky's purpose was to harmonize with the Flames you already had. You sound like you are talking about something else entirely." Tsuna asked, not wanting to be left out of the loop right now.
Reborn blinked his eyes and let out a light chuckle.
"I suppose it would be easier if you knew. Harmonization is another aspect of Sky Flames. The Sky is all-encompassing and all-welcoming. It drags Flames into its domain. Harmonization is the raw connection between you and another, letting your flames mix with theirs, feeding and enhancing both, and perhaps mixing a bond flame if the connection is deep enough. Usually Harmonization only forms with close connections, and I can't see who is that close to you." Reborn explained, and Tsuna froze as he stopped running for a moment.
A look of realization appearing on his face as he shifted desperately back to feeding the small, flickering flame. That flame was not his; no wonder it felt so foreign to him. That flame belonged to Hana; it formed when he accepted her offered hand and established a friendship with her.
This small, weak thing was the representation of his very first friendship. The raw visceral reaction from before made perfect sense, and he felt an almost overwhelming amount of shame at even thinking about snuffing it out.
He was never going to let this small flame die; he was going to feed it till it could function all on its own. Even if that meant it would take longer for his Seal to fade away.
"Judging by the look on your face, you seem to know who it's from. Was it from Hibari?" Reborn asked, and Tsuna stared blankly at him for a moment, almost letting out a loud laugh at the absurd notion.
"Alright, going to take that as a no." Reborn let out a chuckle at the look on his face. Reborn dropped it as the only other person he thought of was the girl his pupil was talking with. That would explain why the Flame was so weak; Reborn did not bother explaining about guardians in this moment, as it was unlikely she would qualify.
Tsuna let out a snort and started running again. He wanted to return this blazer and start training under his new tutor. As he ran, he took a look around and figured it was private enough that he could rip his tickets. There was no one around as far as he could tell.
He started with the silver.
[Iron Nerves]
|Uncommon Trait|
Your nerves are made of iron; you don't flinch or get startled, and this does not affect your reflexes.
Tsuna looked it over and let out a sigh. It was not completely useless, but it was also not that impressive either. The things that could actually surprise him now were not that vast. His instincts feeding him information near constantly.
He then ripped the Gold one, hoping something special would show up.
[Speed]
|Rare Ability|
Grants you supernatural speed; you can run faster than a car and swifter than a dragonfly. Scales with base speed and consumes energy to remain active; you can further augment your speed with more energy.
He almost let out a giddy laugh at that, finally he got another Ability slot!
[Congratulations on collecting five abilities, you have now unlocked your second slot!]
With two slots open his threat level increased massively, and Speed plus Time Accel was a crazy threat.
