Seeing that her dagger and the money she had painstakingly stolen today were both taken by Satoru Gojo, Felt was so angry her teeth ached, yet she didn't dare make a reckless move. She could only glare at him, looking like a little wild cat whose food had been snatched away.
"I worked so hard for that money... wait, I didn't even steal anything from you!"
"You—you're basically a robber!"
Felt knew that stealing was wrong, but for her ideals and her future life, she had been living frugally and working hard to save every cent. Now, seeing Satoru Gojo take her savings made her heart bleed. This guy was clearly powerful and didn't look like an ordinary person, yet he was mugging her for such a small amount of money. Shouldn't someone like him find her petty cash beneath his notice?
"A robber?"
Satoru Gojo chuckled as he tucked the money into his pocket, patting it ostentatiously to ensure it wouldn't fall out. He then crouched down in front of Felt. "Clearly, you tried to rob me first. I'm just taking a little bit of interest."
Satoru Gojo reached out and pinched Felt's cheek, then ruffled her hair until it was a mess before finally standing up, satisfied.
"Next time you try to steal something, check first to see if the target is someone you can actually handle."
As Satoru Gojo spoke, he slipped a piece of candy from his pocket into hers and turned to leave. Felt watched his retreating back, gritting her teeth in frustration. She couldn't beat him, so she could only chalk it up to bad luck.
However, just as she was about to leave, she noticed her dagger lying quietly at her feet. She hadn't even noticed when he had put it back. Felt quickly picked up the dagger and tucked it back into her waist. When she looked up again, Satoru Gojo's figure had disappeared.
Felt pulled out the candy Satoru Gojo had left. It had a beautiful wrapper and a faint, sweet aroma. Though she had never seen it before, Felt recognized it was something high-quality. Looking at the candy, Felt pursed her lips, put it back in her pocket, and let out a light huff before walking out of the alley to rejoin the crowd.
With the money he had "acquired" from Felt, Satoru Gojo went straight to a bookstore. Money made things much more convenient, regardless of which world you were in.
He bought a basic primer on this world's script and asked the shopkeeper to briefly explain the meaning of each character. It cost him one silver coin. With that, Satoru Gojo gained a general understanding of the language. Photographic memory was hardly a challenge for him.
Now that he could read, he asked the owner for a history book and purchased it before leaving. The total spent was one silver coin and twenty-three copper coins. The currency here was divided into four types from lowest to highest: copper, silver, gold, and holy gold. The exchange rate for each was 1:100.
After quickly flipping through the books, Satoru Gojo gained a clearer understanding of this world.
"It really is just like those fantasy light novels," Satoru Gojo remarked as he looked at the history book.
This world was quite complex, divided into four main nations: Lugnica, Vollachia, the Kararagi City-States, and the Holy Kingdom of Gusteko. He was currently in the Royal Capital of Lugnica.
Lugnica was a kingdom with over a thousand years of history and a population of roughly 50 million. Its territory contained various climates and diverse races, including demi-humans. Naturally, it featured standard fantasy elements like magic and dragons.
Beyond that, this world had the legend of the Witches. Rumor had it that four hundred years ago, a being known as the Witch of Envy devoured half the world. Eventually, she was defeated by the combined efforts of the Sage, the Divine Dragon, and the Sword Saint, saving the world.
After reading this so-called history, Satoru Gojo felt like he was reading a trashy novel. It was the stereotypical "Heroes Save the World" trope, just replacing a Demon King with a Witch.
"The only things that seem slightly interesting are the so-called Divine Protections and Authorities."
According to the book, a Divine Protection was something anyone in this world could potentially possess—a blessing bestowed by the world at birth. Some Protections were unique to certain races. While most people were born without one, those born with a Divine Protection would intuitively know what it was without needing to be told.
Authorities, on the other hand, could be seen as the opposite or a superior version of Divine Protections. No Protection could ever overcome an Authority. However, Authorities only manifested in those who had absorbed a Witch Factor—the legendary Witches.
Both types of abilities granted extremely powerful strength.
"Based on this world's classification, my Six Eyes would probably be considered a unique Divine Protection of the Gojo clan," Satoru Gojo analyzed silently, comparing his situation.
"Well, all in all, it's not a boring world."
Satoru Gojo didn't have much interest in standard sorcery anymore, as he was already near the peak of the Jujutsu world. It was only a matter of time before he stood at the very top as the strongest. However, things like magic, Divine Protections, and Authorities were entirely new to him. The unknown always commands more attention.
If possible, he wanted to see for himself how these things would look under the observation of the Six Eyes.
Having finished his research, Satoru Gojo, who had briefly shown some drive, immediately reverted to his lazy self.
"Alright! Time to go taste some local specialties!"
Satoru Gojo couldn't be bothered to think about much else. He would take things as they came. Besides, the so-called protagonist hadn't even shown up yet, so this should be free time.
With the mindset of a tourist, Satoru Gojo began looking for desserts. As it happened, he passed by the fruit stall again. The fierce-looking middle-aged man saw Satoru Gojo, and a flash of anger immediately appeared on his face.
But before he could speak, Satoru Gojo tossed four copper coins onto the table and took another apple.
"Your apples are pretty good. I like them."
The middle-aged man blinked, looking at the four copper coins. The anger on his face vanished. He let out a grunt, pocketed the coins, and gave Satoru Gojo a small nod.
Eating the sweet, juicy apple, Satoru Gojo's figure vanished into the flow of people in an instant.
