Chapter 1: Whether It's Getting Electrocuted or Getting Rammed, I Was Chosen

One year, one month, one day, in a small room on the 6th floor of a certain apartment complex, a young man sat at his computer watching a Naruto roundup.

"Minato is still the coolest."

The guy had sharp brows, bright eyes, a great build, and was only a tiny bit less handsome than the fine viewers in front of their phones. His name wasn't important, so just call him Ren.

"He died way too early. By the time he shows up again, the era has already changed," Ren said as he grabbed a cola and chugged it down.

When he set it down, the bottle wobbled and spilled straight onto the power strip. Sparks flew everywhere.

Nothing happened.

No, the power strip died.

Ren stared blankly and complained, "I thought I'd start an isekai from a short-circuit explosion and get sent to another world. Guess I've been reading too many Fanqie Novel stories."

Suddenly, beep beep, bang, a horn blared, followed by a thunderous crash. A semi-truck barreled in from outside and slammed Ren, sending him flying.

His consciousness blurred. In the haze, he vaguely heard someone shout, "I can ram the 6th floor too! Kid, start your happy new life!"

A pure white space.

"NICE! This month's KPI is done!"

Ren's awareness gradually returned. He opened his eyes to an endless white void. Floating in front of him was a golden ball of light, bouncing up and down.

Ren realized something. "Um… Comrade Bouncy Ball, my current situation is…"

"Who are you calling a bouncy ball!" The golden sphere sounded furious, bouncing harder and speaking out loud. "I'm the god in charge of transmigration! In other novels, they call me the Main God!"

"This setup is kind of cliché," Ren said calmly.

"Then don't transmigrate. I'll just send you to reincarnate. Henan Province, a third-tier city, right?" The sphere replied just as calmly.

"Godfather! Your child was out of line!" Ren instantly panicked. "I really don't want to grind through the college entrance exam again. Please, Godfather, show mercy!"

To be honest, for kids from Henan, Hebei, Shandong, and Shanxi, if you're not a genius or rich, it's truly brutal.

"Since you know what's good for you, I'll let you off. Now, business," the sphere said after a pause. "I'm the god in charge of transmigration. I saw you signed up in some book, so I brought you here. You've got a few choices.

First: random ability, random world. Go roam endless other worlds.

Second: chosen ability, random world. Your start might go smoother.

Third: chosen ability, chosen world."

"Obviously, chosen ability and chosen world is the best!" Ren thought for a moment, then asked, "If there are three options, there must be restrictions, right? Otherwise everyone would pick chosen ability and chosen world. If I pick a Beta Spark and go to World War II, wouldn't that be insane? I'd have Japan talking to my Specium Ray!"

"You're pretty smart. Of course there are restrictions. The first option is completely random. Like you said, Beta Spark to World War II isn't impossible. But you might also get some average ability and end up in a weird world.

I had two people pick option one before. One got the power of Ultraman Ginga and went to the Ultraman Tiga world, seemed like he became some kind of advisor. The other got a black-tech gift pack and went to the Primordial World, and it sounded like it was during the Witch–Demon War."

"Is that senior okay…" Ren shivered.

"No idea. Later feedback said that for some reason he didn't seem to be in human form anymore. Seemed like he turned into a sword."

"As expected, pure random is unplayable unless you're absurdly lucky," Ren muttered. "And the Primordial World too… I know that genre is popular, but the survival pressure is maxed out. I don't even read those much. Better to choose. Chosen can't screw me over. Godfather! I pick chosen ability and chosen world!"

"You can. But if you choose, you can't pick something above the power ceiling of the original world. For example, you can't take a Beta Spark to World War II, but you can take a military industry crafting system or a supplies system to World War II," the sphere said casually.

"Hmm… In that case, let me think. I'll decide the ability first!" Ren remembered how cool Minato looked in the last video he watched. "Right. I want to learn the Flying Thunder God and all kinds of ninja techniques!"

"Sure. But what about the world? Depending on what world you choose, your ability will be slightly adjusted. For example, the chakra used for Flying Thunder God. If you go to a fantasy world, it'll be modified into magic power. As for your ninja techniques, you might need to develop them yourself according to that world's system."

"If I go to the original Naruto world, I feel like I can't beat those schemers. I'd have to outthink them and fight mind games. Just imagining it is exhausting," Ren shuddered and asked, "Godfather, can you recommend something?"

"Sure," the sphere said, like it had been asked this plenty of times. "Flying Thunder God is a ninja technique, something like a spell. So the best fit is a fantasy-type world. It won't be rejected by the local universe. How about the Fairy Tail world? It can perfectly match your ability. Once it's adjusted to magic power, learning the local power system will also be convenient."

"Fairy Tail… I've watched a bit, but I don't remember the plot clearly. I just remember my head full of super flashy magic circles and mages yelling I'm a Fairy Tail wizard and then steamrolling the other side," Ren recalled. "But I'll say this, the female characters are amazing!"

"So? That one?" the sphere confirmed.

"Yeah. That one." Ren made up his mind.

"Alright. Fairy Tail world. Ability: Flying Thunder God, adjusted to magic power mode. As for your ninja techniques, develop them yourself using magic power. Also, this time it's a full-body transfer," the sphere said, extending a hand and tapping rapidly on an invisible screen. Then it seemed to remember something. "But for that world to accept you better, I need to reduce your body's age over there. As compensation, I'll raise your talent and comprehension."

"Fine. Works for me." Ren nodded.

"Alright, off you go!" The sphere stretched out a foot and kicked Ren away. "Go on, kid. Also, I'm not changing your looks."

Transmigration in progress, please wait

A flash of white light.

Ren opened his eyes. In front of him was a boundless forest. Towering trees blocked out the sky, making Ren's eyes go wide.

"Where the hell did this drop me? Is this really the Fairy Tail world? This is indistinguishable from Konoha!"

Ren stood there dazed when he suddenly felt something pawing at his body. He turned his head and saw a gaping, blood-red maw. A wave of dampness and stench rushed at his face.

"What the—!" Ren jumped in shock and urgently dodged aside. Only then did he see the full thing: a body like a tyrannosaurus, a vicious face, and drool constantly dripping from its mouth.

"This starting difficulty is way too high!" Ren bolted.

But how could an ordinary person outrun something with a head almost as big as Ren's whole body, especially when Ren's body had been shrunk and he was clearly shorter now?

In just a few steps, it caught up. The massive mouth loomed larger and larger, about to clamp down on him.

In that life-or-death moment, a series of images flashed through Ren's mind like a spinning lantern, especially the scene in the Main God Space.

"Right! Flying Thunder God! If I can't win, I can still run!"

Ren grabbed a small stone. The magic power inside his body flowed into it by instinct. A tiny mark appeared on the stone.

He quickly threw it, then channeled his magic power.

Whoosh!

The tyrannosaurus bit empty air, staring in confusion as Ren suddenly appeared off to the side.

"It worked. That's what activating Flying Thunder God feels like. Instantly moving to another place. Flying Thunder God really is the coolest!"

Ren felt adrenaline flooding his system. He was buzzing with excitement.

"But only knowing Flying Thunder God means I can't fight back at all. And the chakra, or rather the magic power, used to activate it isn't that huge, but it still won't last long."

Ren took the chance to throw the marked stone to the side and also marked stones around him, blinking back and forth to toy with the tyrannosaurus.

"If I remember right, Tsunade's monstrous strength just needs you to concentrate chakra. Let's try it!"

Ren did it immediately. He flashed aside and tried concentrating magic power into his fist. Very quickly, a faint glow appeared around his knuckles.

"It should be working. Die!"

Ren flashed in front of the tyrannosaurus and punched straight at its massive head. The punch looked ordinary, but the outcome was completely different from what the size difference suggested.

Ren's fist struck its skull, and a violent force erupted. Both man and beast were blasted backward. The tyrannosaurus flew back and slammed into a huge tree trunk behind it, smashing out a massive crater, then collapsed, life or death unknown.

Ren was also thrown backward by the recoil.

"Damn, that hurts. My arm isn't broken, is it? I knew Tsunade's monstrous strength wouldn't be that simple."

Ren used Flying Thunder God to land in a clearing, clutching his arm and howling.

After a while, looking at his whole arm swollen and red, Ren felt utterly exhausted.

"Good thing that Main God boosted my talent. Otherwise I probably couldn't even use this half-finished version."

Ren looked up at the tyrannosaurus lying there. Moments ago it had been the hunter. Now it had no sign of life.

"At least the crisis is over."

Ren sat down and started checking his body.

He noticed a small river nearby and hurried over. He lowered his head to look at his reflection.

In the water, Ren saw he looked about eleven or twelve. His appearance was still the same handsome face as before. His right arm, the one he punched with, was swollen and red from shoulder to wrist, looking pretty scary.

Ren rubbed his arm.

"It hurts like hell, but it doesn't feel like a fracture. Good, good. But what now? And where the hell am I!"

Ren was close to breaking down. In this forest, the former shut-in Ren would struggle even to survive.

Then a voice spoke.

"This is the forest near Magnolia City. Kid, who are you? Why are you alone in the forest?"

Ren turned and saw an older man with white hair, a receding hairline, and a short stature speaking to him.

"That look… Could you be Fairy Tail's guild master, Makarov?"

Ren was excited. Finally, he wouldn't have to worry about survival. In the story, Guild Master Makarov was a standard good person. He definitely wouldn't leave a child to live alone in the forest, especially a child who had awakened magic as a wizard.

Ren thought quickly and answered, "I'm from a very faraway place. After awakening magic, I wanted to join Fairy Tail, so I ran out. But I got lost in this forest… haha."

"Alone? From a faraway place. Where are your family? Are they really okay with you running out by yourself?" Makarov asked, puzzled.

Ren fell silent for a moment, thinking of the parents he might never see again, and said heavily, "They… aren't in this world."

Makarov thought for a moment, then said, "Then come with me. Since you want to join Fairy Tail, this will become your new home. Everyone in the guild will be your new family."

"My name is Ren." Ren nodded.

Makarov smiled. "Then let's go. It'll still take a day of travel to get back to the guild from here."

"Yeah."
