Bang!
Vegeta delivered a powerful kick to Frieza, the force so immense it sent him hurtling into the high sky like a kicked ball.
Whoosh!
Vegeta soared upward, transforming into a streak of deep blue light. His speed was so great it broke the sound barrier as he charged toward Frieza's position.
In a mere flicker, Vegeta appeared directly in front of Frieza, his gaze cold and piercing.
Frieza's expression shifted again and again, inwardly cursing Vegeta for being shameless.
Since you're playing dirty, then I won't be polite either!
Flash!
Frieza shifted his form, once again entering his Golden Form. The golden light shimmered brilliantly under the sun.
The two engaged in a fierce clash in mid-air once more. The shockwaves from their energy collisions rippled outward, making the very air tremble.
After several rounds of combat.
Bang!
With a beautiful bicycle kick, Vegeta struck Frieza, sending him plummeting from the sky like a kite with a broken string.
Rumble!
Frieza's body slammed heavily into the ground with a deafening crash. A bottomless crater was smashed into the earth, sending debris and dust flying everywhere.
Vegeta hovered in the air, condensing energy blasts in his hands and hurling them at Frieza in the crater as if they cost nothing.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
A series of explosions rang out, and flames soared from the crater. Frieza let out agonizing screams, his relentless wailing enough to make one's skin crawl.
A few more minutes passed.
Frieza was fuming with rage, a hint of madness flashing in his eyes.
Boom!
A golden light rose from the crater, piercing the sky and scattering the smoke and dust.
Frieza charged into the sky, his body covered in wounds, and engaged in a fierce clash with Vegeta once more.
Comparatively speaking, Vegeta's Super Saiyan Blue Evolved transformation was stronger than Frieza's Golden Form, and he was practically overwhelming Frieza in the fight.
Frieza was completely outmatched, forced into a state of passive defense.
By now, Frieza had been beaten black and blue by Vegeta. His face was a mess of bruises, and blood trickled from the corner of his mouth, making him a sorry sight to behold.
Finally, after fighting for over an hour, Frieza could no longer hold on. He lay on the ground, his entire body twitching like a fish out of water. The golden light faded from his body as he reverted to his base form.
Although Vegeta had emerged victorious, he too was covered in wounds, blood flowing from his mouth and his breathing ragged.
Flash!
The blue light surrounding Vegeta dissipated, and he likewise reverted to his base form. He leaned on his knees, gasping for air.
"Hmph, Frieza, you're simply no match for me!" Vegeta snorted, a triumphant smile appearing on his face. Despite the many scars on his features, his pride remained unshaken.
Frieza lay on the ground, gazing up at the vast starry sky. His eyes reddened slightly, and he nearly shed a tear.
I, the dignified Emperor of the Universe, Frieza—can I really not beat anyone now?
And I'm a reincarnator!
No, I must become stronger!
One day, I, Frieza, will trample these monkeys under my feet and grind them into the dirt!
"I said no transformations allowed. Do you two really think my words are just for show?" Beerus looked at the battered and scarred Sacred World of the Destruction God and flew into a rage. He let out a roar that echoed through the sky like a clap of thunder.
Vegeta and Frieza immediately turned to look at Beerus. Their triumph and reluctance vanished instantly, replaced by fear as their faces paled slightly.
"Whis, give them a little punishment," Beerus commanded Whis, his voice still laced with anger.
"Certainly," Whis nodded slightly. He waved his staff through the air, and a soft light flashed.
Pop! Pop!
Instantly, a set of heavy, cumbersome clothes appeared on both Vegeta and Frieza, looking incredibly weighted.
Vegeta: "..."
I'm familiar with this scene.
Isn't this the same kind of clothing Whis put on me back when I was training with Kakarot?
Vegeta looked down at the clothes on his body, his brow furrowed.
The style and shape were exactly the same, with almost no change at all.
The only thing that had changed was...
The person beside me has become Frieza.
In my previous life, the person beside me was that fellow Kakarot.
However, the timing is different too.
In my previous life, the timing was after we defeated Frieza, when Kakarot and I were training with Whis.
At that time, that fellow Beerus had already gone off to sleep.
"This is your punishment—super-heavyweight suits for both of you," Whis greeted them with a smile, the crystal ball atop his staff flickering with a soft light.
"I, Frieza, have never worn clothes in this form!" Frieza twisted his body, feeling the clothes like a thousand-pound burden. Every movement was exceptionally difficult, and his face was full of resistance and discomfort.
"Frieza, you deserve it!" Vegeta snorted. Although he also found the clothes cumbersome, seeing Frieza's pathetic state gave him a sense of satisfaction.
"Who are you saying deserves it?" The veins on Frieza's forehead bulged as he glared at Vegeta, his golden aura flickering slightly due to his anger.
"I'm talking about you!" Vegeta snorted coldly, glaring back without backing down, his eyes flashing with battle intent.
The two engaged in a fierce clash in the air once more, though the heavy clothes made their movements sluggish.
Their fists whistled through the air, but they were always clumsily dodged just before they could land. The scene looked somewhat comical.
"Tch!" Beerus watched their clumsy fighting and felt a headache coming on, clicking his tongue impatiently.
Forget it, let them mess around for a while.
Once this period passes, I'll teach them properly.
"Beerus, it's truly rare to see you personally training disciples."
Just then, a slightly arrogant voice rang out from behind Beerus, breaking the tranquility of the Sacred World of the Destruction God.
Beerus was startled and immediately turned his head to look behind him.
He saw Champa, the God of Destruction of Universe 6, and the Angel Vados standing not far away.
Champa stood with his hands on his hips, looking quite smug.
"What wind blew you here?" Beerus gave Champa a sidelong glance, his tone clearly showing his annoyance.
"The southeast wind," Champa replied matter-of-factly. "It just so happens that the southeast wind was blowing over there in the universe."
Beerus: "..."
Can the wind even blow in space?
Is that something a God of Destruction should be saying?
Beerus's mouth twitched, but he couldn't be bothered to argue with him.
"Oh my, what a rare guest. Hello, sister. Hello, Lord Champa." Whis also immediately greeted them politely with a gentle smile, bowing slightly to Vados.
Vegeta and Frieza, who were in the middle of their fight, were drawn by the sudden appearance of the two. Their movements halted abruptly as they temporarily stopped their battle.
Frieza stared intently at Champa and Vados, his eyes full of curiosity and vigilance.
As for the Oracle Fish, because the fight between the two had been too intense earlier, it had long since scrambled into the lake. Only its head peeked above the water as it warily observed the surroundings, fearing it might be caught in the crossfire.
"Who are they? Why does that guy look so much like Lord Beerus?" Frieza was stunned, muttering under his breath. "It's like a fat version of Lord Beerus!"
Vegeta didn't answer the question, his eyes merely flickering.
Because Vegeta was very familiar with this plot.
After all, he had experienced it in his previous life.
Is the tournament with Universe 6 next?
This time, I, Vegeta, will sweep through all the opponents in Universe 6!
The only fighter Universe 6 can really bring out is Hit, right?
Vegeta clenched his fists, his face full of anticipation, his eyes flashing with excitement.
"What are you here for? You're not welcome here!" Beerus snorted coldly, turning his head away and giving Champa a massive eye-roll.
"Don't say that. I came here specifically to challenge you! We agreed that once you woke up, we'd have a contest!" Champa chuckled, rubbing his hands together as he looked at Beerus with anticipation.
"What? Did you find some special delicacy again?" Beerus's eyes lit up, his tone softening instantly as a look of interest appeared on his face.
"Of course, I'll let you see right now!" Champa said, immediately pulling four strangely shaped eggs from the space behind him and carefully placing them on an exquisite plate. "These are the eggs of the Don-Don Bird I recently discovered. Give them a try."
Beerus couldn't wait to take the eggs. With a light tap of his finger, a crack appeared in the shell. He peeled it away, revealing the fresh egg white and yolk inside, and began to taste it carefully.
After eating one egg, Beerus's eyes sparkled. He nodded repeatedly, smacking his lips with a look of pure enjoyment, feeling that the taste was simply wonderful.
"Not bad, it'll do," Beerus evaluated with a nod, though his eyes were fixed on the eggshells on the table, and he unconsciously licked his lips.
"It's fine, these eggshells are edible," Champa chuckled, picking up a piece of eggshell and handing it to Beerus, his eyes full of pride.
Beerus: "..."
Eggshells are edible too?
"These eggs are different from others. The shells taste as good as gristle. Try it," Champa smiled triumphantly, picking up a piece of eggshell himself and crunching on it.
Beerus hesitated for a moment. Seeing Champa eating with such gusto, he ultimately couldn't resist the temptation. He picked up a piece of eggshell and bit down with a crunch.
Upon tasting it, Beerus's eyes sparkled once more, a look of surprise appearing on his face.
He hadn't expected the eggshells of these eggs to be so delicious—crispy, savory, and with a unique fragrance.
"How is it, Beerus?" Champa became even more smug, puffing out his chest with a "praise me" expression.
"Hmm, it's okay," Beerus replied vaguely, picking up another piece of eggshell to eat.
"But then again, where's the delicacy your universe prepared? Hurry up and bring it out for me to taste," Champa licked his lips, looking around and urging him.
"There isn't any. Don't you know I've been sleeping all these years? Where would I find the time to prepare delicacies?" Beerus chuckled lightly, putting down the eggshell and speaking calmly.
Champa: "..."
Champa immediately felt his whole mood sour. His face fell as if a bucket of cold water had been poured over him.
You're being a bit much now.
"Didn't we agree to have a culinary contest after you woke up?" Champa was fuming, his spittle sputtering all over Beerus's face as he spoke.
Vegeta's heart stirred. He was just about to mention that there were many delicacies on Earth, but Beerus raised his hand to wipe his face and spoke first.
"Hmph, rather than having a meaningless culinary contest, an actual battle would be more interesting," Beerus chuckled, carefully wiping the spittle from his face with a handkerchief, a hint of cunning flashing in his eyes.
"An actual battle? What do you mean?" Champa was stunned, blinking his eyes as he looked at Beerus in confusion.
"As Gods of Destruction, a one-on-one contest is naturally more interesting, don't you think?" Beerus's smile grew even more radiant, his eyes flashing with a provocative light.
Champa: "..."
Champa swallowed hard, his eyes flickering. He immediately felt a bit cowardly, instinctively taking half a step back.
"Beerus, you have to understand one thing. We're both Gods of Destruction. If we really fight, the entire universe might be shattered," Champa said hurriedly, trying to find an excuse to back out.
"I knew you'd say that," Beerus laughed, pointing casually at Frieza and Vegeta, who were still in a standoff. "See those two? How about this: you find two people from your universe as well and have them clash with these two! What do you think?"
Champa and Vados had noticed Vegeta and Frieza long ago. Hearing Beerus say this, they immediately looked at the two again, carefully sizing up their Ki and status.
A brief silence followed.
"Fine, we'll do as you say!" Champa agreed readily, thinking that these two didn't look like much and that he could easily find two people from his own universe to handle them.
"Two-on-two! I'll wait for you here. Hurry up and bring your people over," Beerus's lips curled upward, his smile growing even more radiant as if victory were already in his grasp.
"Wait a minute! Don't be in such a hurry," Champa snorted, waving his hand.
"What? If you don't have the confidence, then forget it," Beerus said calmly, deliberately using reverse psychology to provoke him.
"What I mean is, are we just going to compete for nothing?" Champa hummed, his eyes darting around. "Shouldn't we put something on the line?"
"What do you want to put on the line?" Beerus was taken aback, looking at Champa with some confusion.
"In our two universes, there are seven magical orbs distributed that can grant any wish. The losing side must unconditionally surrender their universe's orbs to the other," Champa chuckled, revealing his idea with a greedy glint in his eyes.
"Magical orbs? What are those?" Beerus furrowed his brow, never having heard of them.
"They are the Super Dragon Balls," Vegeta spoke up, his tone carrying a hint of gravity.
"Super Dragon Balls?" Beerus turned to look at Vegeta, gesturing for him to continue.
"As far as I know, the Super Dragon Balls are distributed across both Universe 7 and Universe 6. Once gathered, they can grant any single wish," Vegeta answered with a calm expression.
"This kid is right; that's exactly how it is," Champa nodded in admission, adding, "The losing side must not interfere with the other side's search for the Super Dragon Balls in their universe."
"Fine, that's no problem at all," Beerus immediately agreed, finding the proposal quite interesting.
"Then it's a deal!" Champa was beyond excited, rubbing his hands together with a look of absolute determination in his eyes.
I've already found six of the Super Dragon Balls.
Only one more to go to complete the set.
Originally, Champa had been doing this secretly while Beerus was asleep.
It had taken him nearly forty years of effort to finally gather six of them.
Of course, this was mainly because Champa's approach to the task was to work in fits and starts.
One day he'd remember and go to Universe 7 to scavenge a Dragon Ball.
The next day he'd forget, put the matter aside, and go off in search of delicacies.
If Champa had put all his heart into finding the Dragon Balls, he surely would have gathered them and made his wish long ago.
However, what made Champa a bit frustrated now was that the fellow Beerus had woken up.
And according to what Champa knew, the final Dragon Ball was in Universe 7.
Trying to secretly take a Dragon Ball from Universe 7 without Beerus noticing would likely be more complicated than he imagined.
Now, taking that Dragon Ball openly through a tournament was truly an excellent choice.
"Wait a minute!" Vegeta said hurriedly, stepping forward with a firm gaze.
"What? Is there something else?" Champa looked at Vegeta, asking with some impatience.
"A two-on-two match is so boring. Why not have each universe select five people for the tournament?" Vegeta snorted, voicing his idea.
"Fine," Beerus agreed readily, giving Vegeta an appreciative look.
This kid Vegeta really knows how to read the room.
Two-on-two is indeed a bit risky.
But if it's five-on-five...
With Son Goku, Broly, and Son Goku's son, Gohan, added to the mix...
We could win with our eyes closed.
In fact, we wouldn't even need anyone else; Son Goku alone could probably wipe out the entire Universe 6 team, right?
"How about it, Champa? Can you scrape together five people?" Beerus asked with a smile, his tone carrying a hint of mockery.
"Tch, it's just five people, isn't it? I'll go back and bring them over right now!" Champa naturally wouldn't back down, speaking with his neck stiffened and a face full of defiance.
"Lord Champa, are you really sure? If we lose, the Dragon Balls you worked so hard to collect might be handed over to someone else," Vados lowered her voice, leaning in to whisper into Champa's ear.
"Hmph, didn't you see those two guys' movements just now? They look quite average; our universe should be able to win easily," Champa chuckled smugly, patting his chest with full confidence.
Vados said nothing, only shaking her head helplessly.
"Then in five days, the tournament will be held on a planet located at the intersection of our two universes," Beerus proposed in a calm tone.
"No problem," Champa nodded in agreement, eager to head back and prepare.
Whoosh!
A brilliant aura erupted from Vados, as dazzling as a meteor. With a light wave of her staff, she took Champa and transformed into a streak of light, instantly leaving Beerus' Planet.
"Who does Mr. Vegeta plan to have participate in the tournament?" Whis asked with a smile, his gaze falling on Vegeta.
"Hmph, Kakarot, of course. Besides that fellow, we can just find any two other people," Vegeta replied, his eyes full of anticipation.
"What does Lord Beerus think?" Whis asked Beerus again, respectfully waiting for his decision.
"Regardless, let's go find Son Goku first," Beerus thought for a moment, feeling that having Son Goku participate was indeed a good choice.
It would be best to bring Broly along as well.
That would make it even more secure.
But normally, as long as Son Goku participates, there shouldn't be any major problems.
That guy's strength has already surpassed Champa's.
Who else in Universe 6 could be stronger than Champa?
"Son Goku!" Hearing Son Goku's name, Frieza's teeth ground together with a clicking sound. He was instantly filled with a gnawing hatred, a trace of malice flashing in his eyes.
"Whis, go and bring Son Goku and Broly here, and have Son Goku bring his son as well," Beerus proposed with a commanding tone.
"Certainly, Lord Beerus," Whis agreed readily. He tapped his staff lightly on the ground with a crisp sound, and a brilliant aura erupted from him as he prepared to find Son Goku immediately.
"I'm going back too!" Vegeta suddenly said, stripping off his weighted clothing and letting it slam heavily onto the ground with a dull thud.
"Suit yourself," Beerus didn't object, stretching lazily with a hint of sleepiness in his eyes.
Whoosh!
Whis took Vegeta and transformed into an aura as brilliant as the stars, trailing a long wake of light as they rapidly left Beerus' Planet and vanished into the depths of the universe.
Only Beerus and Frieza were left on the scene. The Sacred World of the Destruction God regained a moment of tranquility, with only the rustling of the wind through the grass.
Frieza's eyes darted around as a plan suddenly formed in his mind. He hurriedly stepped forward and bowed deeply, his posture incredibly respectful.
"Is something the matter?" Beerus asked, glancing sideways at Frieza with a hint of impatience, his tail flicking behind him.
"Lord Beerus, I would like to go and see that different dimension you mentioned," Frieza proposed, his eyes carrying a hint of anticipation and trepidation.
"Go if you want, but don't let it interfere with the tournament," Beerus snorted, waving his hand as if he couldn't be bothered to say more.
"Thank you, Lord Beerus!" Frieza was filled with excitement, his face showing an irrepressible joy as he bowed deeply once more.
"Knowing your own lack of strength and going in there to train properly is a good choice," Beerus nodded slightly and waved his hand again, signaling for Frieza to get lost.
Actually, this is fine. Now I can go back to sleep.
No one's home!
I can sleep in absolute peace.
Frieza immediately took to the air, transforming into a golden streak of light and rapidly flying toward that strange nebula. His speed increased until he was almost tearing through space.
After flying for a while, Frieza finally saw the strange nebula, which emitted an eerie purple glow. Without hesitation, he dove straight in.
Appearing before Frieza was a yellowish planet that looked quite ordinary, its surface pitted and devoid of any signs of life.
Frieza landed on the planet, his feet stepping onto the soft soil. He saw a massive sculpture standing in the center of the planet.
The sculpture looked like a Maneki-neko with a dorky expression, one paw raised high as if beckoning someone.
Frieza walked over and took a closer look, discovering an entrance beneath the sculpture. He walked in without hesitation.
After traveling further, the passage grew narrower. Frieza saw a heavy door appear ahead, carved with strange patterns.
Creak...
Frieza stepped forward and pushed the heavy door open with all his might, the hinges letting out a piercing grinding sound.
