One day I was in my bedroom at 1:AM, when suddenly I jerked up from my bed because I felt unsettled. When I looked out of my window I swore I saw a dark silhouette creeping in my back garden, but then, I realised that I forgot to lock the back door last night. I tried to rush downstairs but when I finally reached the bottom of the stairs I saw the door, wide open, and suddenly, I thought, I was too late. I ran upstairs and hid in my bedroom with luckily has a lock but then I heard them, sprinting up the creaky flight of stairs and I knew I didn't have much time before he got In. I then realised that I had to jump. I hesitated for a second, but, although I knew it would really hurt, that's better than dying, I grabbed my car keys off the bedside table and jumped.I knew I broke my leg from past experience but I had to endure the excruciating pain, for my car was only about 20 steps away. When I reached my car, I saw in my rear view mirror that they were there. Instead of going to the hospital I drove my car about 1 mile away and called the police to my street and told them that someone broke into my house and tried to kill me, but I managed to get away and drove down the road to my friend's house. I also told them that while trying to get away I had to jump out of my window and to send an ambulance because I knew that I broke my leg. When the ambulance got there they immediately started to run tests on me to check I hadn't hurt anything else when jumping but it turns out I had also shattered my
hip and tore my hamstring. They then took me to the hospital and ran multiple surgery's. I was in the hospital for 1 week and when I finally got out the ambulance took me home but it seemed like the driver of the ambulance knew something that I didn't, as he said things like, are you sure you want me to drop you of at your house and not your friends. When I got home I was surprised ri see that the police were still at my house. As I walked up to them, I was met with the news that the person who broke in that night hadn't been caught. Now, I make sure to keep all the doors locked at night but I still feel unsettled.
