Chapter 17 - Seventeen

Anxiety filled his eyes. Fear of the unknown choked him, making every breath feel like poison. From afar, the base was falling apart, as the Crokuns glubbed everything in their way.

No sign of them

No nothing.

At this very moment, everyone was on edge, except Asier, who seemed unbothered by the visible notion that his Papa might not make it back.

However, Nuit was worse—the urge to run into the chaos before his eyes was eating at him.

The base was almost reduced to dust. Everyone watched calmly.

The Crokuns were getting dangerously close. Their hearts pounded, full of panic.

"Here they are,' Kion exclaimed with glee.

By the side was an underground hatch covered in dust and debris of destruction, bursting open by the sheer force of Vadrian's power, which was immediately recognized by Kion, who sighed in relief, and the Crokuns, who rushed forward like they had seen something delicious to eat.

Vadrian grabbed hold of Bram, who held Misha in his arms in confusion. They ran towards the open hatch, the Crokuns hot on their tails.

The butler closed his eyes, not daring to witness the tragedy that was about to take place.

'Almost there'

With Crokun right behind them and the mothership a few meters away, Bram wondered weakly how he ended up in such a predicament. A few minutes ago, he was about to start up the ship to abandon Misha and the commander to save those ungrateful fools.

'How did I end up here?'

Bram was exhausted; he couldn't run anymore. He was carrying Misha, who was heavy for him. He was having second thoughts about dropping the boy to distract the Crokun.

'We're not going to make it,' Vadrian reasoned with the distance in front and the danger behind them.

Vadrian stretched forth his arm as he snatched the child from Bram, casting a teleportation spell beneath them. The atmosphere shifted the moment they disappeared.

Appearing inside the mothership, Kion slammed the keypad. The hatch slowly closed as Tan didn't waste time launching the mothership into the air.

Nuit wheeled towards Misha and the fainting Bram. Vadrian held Bram, who felt weightless and frail in his arms.

The butler, whose hands had been on his chest out of anxiousness, carried Misha away into one of the rooms in the mothership. Vadrian still held onto Bram, trying to figure out what was happening to him.

Nuit watched vigilantly, ready to stop him at all costs; he won't entertain any ideas Vadrian might be brewing in his mind. Asier stood watching, trying to recall where he had seen the man before. He felt something was blocking some of his memories. It was as if it were sealed by an unknown force.

Kion stood behind his commander, wondering what was going on.

"Long time no see, Nuit,

Nuit flinched. Big doe eyes stare back at vibrant silver ones. Nuit felt threatened as he finally recognized the monster before him.

Vadrian De Bratva of the Bratva Blood Clan, twin to Nuit's husband.

How could he have missed it? Yes, he felt the ominous presence when they first met, but it wasn't enough to expose him completely.

"Let him go,' Nuit gulped in fear, yet he kept a bold front.

Vadrian glared at him coldly. "Why should I?' By the rules of the clan, you two should be punished for setting foot out of the clan.

Asier stood observing the situation, his eyes filled with uncertainty. He felt the need to protect his Papa. As if programmed to secure Bram's well-being, Asier drew a spell on the air. This caused Misha in the next room to scream in agony.

Vadrian turned sharply at Asier. "What are you doing?'

"Give Papa to uncle, or I will snap Misha's neck,' Asier calmly stated, not bothering with everyone's eyes on him. His goal is to make sure his Papa is safe and away from the strange man. He noticed how the man saved Misha despite it being too late to save the apathetic fool.

Therefore, using Misha to save his Papa was the ultimate move he could make for now.

Vadrian scanned the six-year-old boy that looks awful similar to him, speaking with the air of a mature old man with years of experience.

'What has Bram done to their kids?' Vadrian stared blankly at the little boy. Even Nuit was not comfortable with Asier's statement.

Everyone knows Asier will do what he says, and Bram won't bat an eye when he wakes up. To him, Misha was a burden with naïve common sense. The boy probably thinks everything is all sunshine and rainbows. The galaxy is a space for survival, and everyone fights to maintain their position at the top.

"Your Papa is not in danger,' Vadrian casually stated. "He is exhausted and needs plenty of rest. Killing your brother isn't going to solve anything.

"It would, for me,' Asier retorted with slight hostility. "At least he won't be nagging me 24/7 about shit.

"Asier!

Nuit had exclaimed in shock. "You are not allowed to talk like that.

"You're not my Papa,' Asier tilts his head in accusation.

Vadrian looked at Bram one more time, then at Asier. "How about this, let me take care of your Papa for you. He's weak and very sick right now. I'm going to treat him for you. You can watch if you want. All I know is that your Papa is in a very critical condition.

Asier stared at him, processing his thoughts. Nuit wanted to refuse, but it would only make Asier more agitated and might really kill Misha without warning.

Since Vadrian is all dangerous, Asier is more evil and matches him in power.

Asier observes Nuit's reaction, seeing no form of disagreement, he agrees without a second thought.

"I will monitor his treatment,' Asier stated coldly. "Any funny business, I will bring this ship down with everyone in it to the pits of the galaxy.

Nuit stared at him with mixed emotions. Between Asier and Vadrian, he knew sooner or later something would happen. He felt the oxygen around dropping rapidly; it made his heart burn.

"Deal.

Vadrian smiled at Asier, looking so happy and fatherly, to which the little boy raised an eyebrow at him.

Sweat fell from Kion's forehead as he watched the father and son reach an agreement with relief in his eyes.

Before he could breathe, he heard a splash of water at the side.

With a confused expression, Kion stared at Nuit, who was trembling violently.

"Are you okay, sir?'

Nuit looked up at the young adjacent.

"My water broke.
