Silence greeted me after l was done. I was not allowed to raise my head nor speak beside being spoken to. Here l was. Getting married again, this time on my birthday.

It seemed like forever when he came to me. He crouched and rose with me. He held me as ululations and whistles filled the air. They had accepted me as their bride. He was mine and l was his. My surroundings faded and my groom stood before me, wearing a beautiful Khoisan attire with the whistle on his neck.

"I'm coming Mwanakazi.. Just wait for me."

My gaze went to the soil that tickled my toes. Reminding me that l was barefoot, something l rarely did. The feeling was foreign, looking up his eyes were a dark abyss, one l fell deep into without a second thought.

A distant ringing buzzed into my ears, l looked around. It became persistent, reminding me that there was something.. Something l should do..

"I look forward to another dream of yours. It's time for you to wake up."

A feeling of amnesia hung over me as I tried to remember my dream. The stranger's face disappearing from my mind now a distant forgotten memory. Remembering nothing from my dream. The alarm continued on, breaking me from my trance. My last year in High School. I rose and got ready for another adrenaline packed day, filled with hormonal teenagers and boring teachers.
