Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Summer Camp, The Beginning of a Dream

Kanto Region, Pallet Town

It was midsummer, a perfect season for camp. To help their children gain richer experience for future journeys, most of the residents of Pallet Town entrusted Professor Oak with organizing a summer camp. Professor Oak gladly accepted his neighbors' request and generously handled everything free of charge.

Most of the children born in Pallet Town gathered outside the Professor Oak's Laboratory, waiting for Professor Oak to arrive and lead the group. Among the children preparing to set off on an adventure in lively clusters, one calm-faced boy stood out in particular.

The boy had short black hair, wore a red cap, a black sleeveless shirt with a red jacket over it, black training gloves, blue pants, and white sneakers. This boy was Red.

Red was not a native of the Pokémon world, but a young man from another world called "Earth." His previous life had not been a happy one. The restructuring of his family had only made him a stranger within his own home. Only when it came to Pokémon could he barely muster a smile. Yet he knew that if he wanted to survive in that bustling city, he had to abandon his seemingly useless hobby.

By a coincidence beyond coincidence, he happened upon a car accident about to occur. Because he longed for the kindness and beauty of the Pokémon world, he could not bear to stand by and chose to save the girl whose life was about to be lost. He himself was crushed beneath a truck.

His kind soul was drawn into the Pokémon world, where he was reborn in Pallet Town of the Kanto Region as the twin older brother of the hot-blooded boy Ash—Red.

From the time he became aware, Red awakened psychic powers and Aura abilities, displaying astonishing talent. Even Professor Oak, an authority in the research world, could not help but marvel at Red's intelligence.

Fortunately, Professor Oak promptly sealed off information about Red's psychic abilities to prevent certain evil organizations from targeting him.

(Unknowingly, I've already been in this world for seven years. Pokémon truly are extraordinary creatures. Only by experiencing it firsthand can one understand the wonder of this world…)

"Red, you're as unsociable as ever~"

The familiar voice pulled Red back to reality. He slightly raised his head and saw a reddish-brown-haired boy greeting him. It was Gary, Professor Oak's grandson and one of Red's few close friends.

"Yeah, brother! It's not often we get a chance like this—don't be so distant!" Ash chimed in, stepping forward to persuade him.

"Alright, since you're both asking me like this…"

Red smiled helplessly. Only a handful of people could make him smile, and Ash and Gary were clearly among them.

Moments later, Professor Oak appeared before the children. Thus began a summer camp that was both exciting and dull—perhaps only Red would find it dull.

Professor Oak led the children to the forest behind the mountain, occasionally explaining important precautions and related knowledge to those dreaming of becoming Pokémon Masters.

Most listened attentively, even taking the initiative to ask questions. Professor Oak answered each patiently, without any airs of being a renowned authority. This was one of the reasons he was so respected by the residents of Pallet Town.

Still, a few boys inevitably refused to listen. The brothers Red and Ash were among them. The former had already mastered most theoretical and practical knowledge, while the latter was simply too hot-blooded and reckless to bother listening.

Professor Oak could only sigh helplessly. Both were thorns that resisted discipline, yet their personalities were stark opposites. Red was not only the visual standout among the boys of Pallet Town, but his knowledge of Pokémon theory and battle far surpassed his peers. The only flaw was his aloof personality.

Yet that aloofness was merely a misunderstanding. Red simply disliked talking to strangers. With those close to him, he was warm enough.

At this thought, Professor Oak couldn't help but wonder if Delia had given all the best traits to Red. After all, Red was simply too outstanding. Since childhood, to help support the household, he had begun assisting at the Professor Oak's Laboratory at the age of five.

He had successively published On Eevee's Multiple Evolutions, Understanding the Fairy-Type Attribute, and On Hidden Abilities of Pokémon. These three works directly shook the research communities across various regions.

Although all three papers bore the name Oak Samuel, keen observers discovered that the true author was a boy named Red. Professor Oak had merely published them.

Because of these publications, the Kanto Region's research level had advanced ahead of other regions, taking the lead in studying Eevee's multiple evolutions and recognizing Fairy-type Pokémon.

"Red, where are you going?!" Professor Oak suddenly noticed that Red had left the group and was preparing to head deeper into the forest alone. Though Red's psychic powers and Aura abilities were enough to protect him, he was still only seven years old. As an elder, Professor Oak naturally felt uneasy letting him go alone.

"Don't worry, Professor Oak. I won't do anything dangerous." Red promised confidently. But Professor Oak clearly did not believe him—he knew exactly what the boy before him was capable of.

What is a super Pallet Town native?

Red was the most obvious example. Forming an Aura Sphere with one hand to shatter rocks, and in order to train his psychic powers, forcibly using telekinesis to make a Pidgeot flying at Mach 2 crawl like a snail.

All these examples made it abundantly clear to Professor Oak that Red was anything but obedient.

"I'll be back in half an hour. You know I don't like playing with those little brats."

As soon as he finished speaking, Red used Teleport and vanished, ignoring Professor Oak's objections.

"You're a child too…" Professor Oak muttered.

Breathing in the fresh air comfortably, finally free from the dull camp activities, Red felt especially delighted.

But the good mood did not last long. Through his Aura sensing, Red detected a team composed of adults moving through the depths of the forest.

Leaping lightly into a tree, Red spotted a group in black uniforms marked with a large "R" moving several hundred meters away, as if carrying out some secret plan.

"What's going on? Why is Team Rocket here?" Red wondered aloud, immediately preparing to use Teleport to observe more closely. He did not turn back to inform Professor Oak, as time was too tight—losing sight of Team Rocket rashly would be an unwise decision.

"Captain, are there really traces of Mew appearing here?" one member holding a scanner asked doubtfully, only to be immediately reprimanded by the squad leader.

"Of course! Do you think Dr. Hemlock's words are false?!"

The small squad leader couldn't help recalling a terrifying silhouette. Dr. Hemlock was a Pokémon professor recently recruited by Giovanni. No one knew his true identity. It was only known that he was extremely important to Team Rocket. Many experiments were orchestrated single-handedly by him behind the scenes. He was a core figure of Team Rocket—far beyond someone of his rank to discuss casually.

"Mew? Dr. Hemlock?"

Hidden in the shadows, Red stroked his chin thoughtfully. Since this was a parallel world, he did not dare fully apply the anime's plot to this reality.
