"...and I would not have taken what he said seriously," The meeting chamber echoed my voice. "But it was the way he looked at me…"
"How did he look at you?" Rafayel leaned in, asking.
"Like he he knew me so well, so well that it was unnerving."
"And you suspect that it was before our Ascension?" Zayne question, his hard face betraying nothing.
"What other time? If it is true he knew me at all then I would remember him no matter how unremarkable and human he was and if not—it must have been from before."
We all sat with what I had said when I was done narrating the strange incident.
I looked over all their face, trying to gauge what they were thinking but it was Rafayel that made me stop.
He seemed lost and distant, unlike the others. His finger worked anxiously, eyes darting subtely.
I noted the strange behavoiur and tucked it somewhere else for later.
