Chapter 28 - Waking up
While Kai and the entire bus were forced to sleep, Elder Huan watched them silently.
Then his eyes widened as he saw golden mist that was visible in tiny threads flying into Kai's body.
Elder Huan was surprised because he knew that those threads were pure mana, and Kai's body absorbed them with what could only be called inhuman speed. In exactly 2.5 seconds, the mana stopped.
Kai felt hot and his eyes were bright, though closed, light seeping through his eyelids.
As he opened his eyes, he saw the bright sun staring back. He got up from the ground and found himself in a desert like place with Nova and three other people next to him on the ground, also slowly waking up, and 5 meters away was a circular platform on the ground with a man holding a tablet on it.
Kai smiled and nudged Nova to wake her up, and the rest also.
When they all woke up, they started introducing themselves.
One of the three started.
She said, "Hello, call me Luna. I am 16, turning 17 in a month, and my bloodline is about archery."
Then another person spoke, "Hey, I am Luca, 17 years old, and my bloodline controls ice and fire."
The last girl, who was the most silent and held an icy and distant look, spoke, "I am Elena. My bloodline controls ice."
Nova spoke, "16. My bloodline controls runic magic and healing. I am Nova."
Kai lastly spoke, "16. My bloodline... well, I do not know much about it honestly, and my name is Kai."
Kai glanced at his status that had become tucked away, but still visible in the corner of his eye.

Kai smiled at the mana increase and defense increase as he needed it for the next tests coming up.
The group of five walked to the man, who started speaking immediately, "I hope you got your introductions over with because I will not waste more of my time. To explain quickly, I am a second year in the academy doing this for extra credit marks. I am called Tian Qi."
Tian Qi then sighed and said, "Right now, let us start the first test. It is going to test your strength. I will summon a punching bag. You must make it swing three times at least to pass. More than Five or Five then and you are an elite student and get more credits and things."
As he spoke, he tapped his left foot five times as five punching bags appeared from thin air in front of each person.
Nova started first and entered a stance as she punched the reddish bag, and it did not even budge slightly before runes snaked over the point of contact. Nova jumped back, and the bag exploded and swung five times.
Tian Qi smiled, interested in her runic abilities because they were uncommon.
Elena was next, and she created a gauntlet of ice around her hand and punched the bag, and it swung nearly eight times.
Tian Qi whistled and said, "Elena, was it not? You are a one hell of a monster. What grade is your bloodline?"
Elena coldly answered, "Heaven rank."
Tian Qi's eyes widened, and he did not dare to say anything more.
Because he knew heaven ranked bloodlines are one of the strongest, they even have the potential to become the strongest.
Kai was mentally realizing that he was nowhere as close to these people as he thought. He thought he was strong, but now he was slowly realizing he was simply overconfident because of a single boost in power.
Kai mentally said, "System, open Bloodline page."
