The men arrived at the marked line with their horses, preparing to begin the race. The atmosphere around the arena buzzed with excitement as nobles and commoners alike waited eagerly for the competition to start.
"I heard you haven't ridden in a while, Your Majesty," Victor said casually.
Enzo glanced at him briefly but did not respond. Instead, he focused ahead on the track, his expression unreadable.
Victor smirked faintly before leaning closer. "I just want to let you know, Your Majesty," he said with a hint of mockery, "that if I win, I'll ask for my mate back."
Enzo finally looked at him. His anger brewed silently beneath the calm mask on his face, but he chose not to react. Victor was obviously trying to provoke him, and he refused to give him the satisfaction.
"At the sound of the whistle, you begin your race!" Lucien announced loudly for everyone to hear.
