'Let's split up Lady Arabella, we will meet here in thirty minutes," Lord Cedric said as he pulled on the reins of his horse, stopping beneath the shade of the towering trees.
The forest stretched endlessly ahead of them, thick and alive with the sounds of nature. Birds chirped in distant branches while the wind whispered softly through the leaves.
The deeper part of the woods was darker, colder somehow, and the atmosphere carried an uneasy stillness that neither of them acknowledged aloud.
Arabella nodded and kicked her horse, galloping away without saying a word to him. Her black hair flowed behind her wildly as the horse sped through the narrow path between the trees.
Lord Cedric sat on his horse for a moment, watching her disappear into the forest with awe in his eyes before chuckling gently to himself.
"I really can't figure you out, Lady Arabella," he muttered softly before finally turning his horse and galloping away slowly in the opposite direction.
