When Enzo settled down in the bedchambers assigned to him, he could not stop looking at Arabella, who had been quiet since they arrived. She silently helped him have his bath. Her hair was woven backward, and she looked more like a warrior. The scene of Elara losing her head did not stop replaying in his head.
She was still trying to fold the trousers he had worn when he woke up when Enzo moved toward her. He held her hands, and she stopped but did not turn to him.
"Can you stop and look at me?" he said.
Arabella moved to continue what she was doing.
"Please."
Enzo's voice came out small and pleading. Arabella stopped and turned to him, but her eyes were everywhere except on him. Enzo turned her face toward him.
"Look at me."
Arabella did. Enzo noticed her green eyes were almost gone, replaced by the pure grey eyes of a true Raven.
"How long since your vision became clearer?" he asked.
Arabella shrugged.
"Three to four years ago. I wasn't really keeping count."
