Chapter 41 - Chapter 41: A Simple Request

Afterward, every day, Dan Feng and Roxy Migurdia would go to the Adventurers' Guild to pick up requests.

They discovered that in this remote city of the Asura Kingdom, there were surprisingly so many A-rank requests—like more than they could possibly take on.

It was probably because it was relatively close to the Red Dragon Mountains, so there were even more requests in the snowy areas than in the forest.

They had already noticed before that there was intelligence about a greenish-blue creature appearing in the Red Dragon Mountains, and that information was actually an S-rank request!

And today happened to be the first day of Armoured Dragon Calendar year 398.

Dan Feng and Roxy Migurdia stood in front of the request board at the Adventurers' Guild, selecting the request they would take on today.

Since they still had many places to go, they needed to save up some money first—the few dozen gold coins left in their pockets definitely wouldn't be enough.

"Dan Feng, what do you think of this request to subjugate a pack of white snow leopards?" Roxy Migurdia took down an A-rank request and handed it to Dan Feng as she spoke.

Dan Feng took it and looked it over. He found that the request was inside the Red Dragon Mountains, so there was still some risk, and he refused.

"There's still a chance of encountering a red dragon. It's not safe enough; it could easily cost us our lives." Dan Feng stuck the request back in its place, then continued looking at other requests with Roxy Migurdia.

Finally, Dan Feng spotted one that didn't belong to the snow mountains.

"Look at this one." Dan Feng immediately took the request down, and then he and Roxy Migurdia read it together.

[Subjugate the giant locusts and rock worms in the forest near the village]

It was hard to imagine that this was actually an A-rank request.

Back when they were in Millishion, the surrounding Great Forest had these kinds of monsters. To put it bluntly, the so-called giant locusts were just oversized grasshoppers, and those rock worms—which were bigger than normal earthworms and abnormally hard—were basically things that normal adventurers could crush to death casually.

"This is way too easy, right? And this kind of request actually offers a reward of one large silver coin?!" Roxy Migurdia looked at the description on the request, feeling inwardly that this request was perhaps a bit too simple.

"Let's take this one. Register it and head out immediately."

With that, Dan Feng took Roxy Migurdia to the Adventurers' Guild counter and registered the request.

Next, they needed to go to the client's home to get the exact location from Dan Feng and the others.

Dan Feng and Roxy Migurdia left the city and walked along a road flanked on both sides by golden wheat fields. Watching the people coming and going to tend the crops around them, an inexplicable sense of comfortable, peaceful life welled up in their hearts.

"By the way, Roxy, you've been using that staff for quite a while now, haven't you? Shouldn't it be time to replace it?" On the way, with nothing better to do, Dan Feng turned his gaze to the staff in Roxy Migurdia's hand.

Hearing Dan Feng say this, Roxy Migurdia also looked at her own staff.

She had indeed been using this staff for a very long time. It was the one she had bought on loan in Zant Port.

Back then, she had no money and could only buy now, pay later. Fortunately, there were plenty of requests during the rainy season, so she successfully paid off the staff. After that, she rescued a little beast girl, and then arrived in Millishion.

"It's still usable for now. Once things stabilize later, I'll go conquer a labyrinth to obtain a magic stone, then craft a staff that's exclusively mine." Roxy Migurdia blinked her eyes, already picturing what that staff would look like in her mind.

It would definitely be one of a kind, with a very beautiful blue magic stone and white decorations.

However, she also knew that obtaining a magic stone wasn't easy—it would require a lot of effort and time.

Dan Feng watched Roxy Migurdia's excited expression, and the corners of his mouth couldn't help but curve up slightly.

He knew Roxy Migurdia was someone with determination. As long as she set a goal, she would definitely give it her all to achieve it.

As they chatted, the two unknowingly walked into the village listed on the request.

The village wasn't large, with houses neatly distributed along both sides of the road, giving off a sense of tranquility and harmony.

"The person who posted this request seems to be the village chief here. Let's ask a passerby where the village chief's house is." Dan Feng took out the request sheet, carefully checked the information on it, then led Roxy Migurdia to the door of the nearest house.

He gently knocked on the door, producing a crisp knock-knock-knock sound.

After a while, the door slowly opened, and a middle-aged woman came out from inside the house.

"Is there something you need?" The middle-aged woman looked puzzled as she sized up the pair—one big, one small—in front of her, and asked.

Dan Feng smiled politely and said, "Hello, we're adventurers who accepted the request. May we ask where the village chief's house is?"

Upon hearing the word "adventurers," a smile appeared on the middle-aged woman's face. As a villager here, the news that the village chief had posted a request to subjugate monsters had spread throughout the village.

So the middle-aged woman volunteered, "Oh, so you're the adventurer sirs! I'll take you to the village chief's house!"

Afterward, the middle-aged woman led Dan Feng and Roxy Migurdia to the largest household in the village—this was the village chief's home.

After bringing them there, the middle-aged woman left.

Dan Feng knocked on the door again.

Soon, a very kindly-looking elderly man came out from inside.

"Hello, are you Mr. Slag Pawas? We're the adventurers who accepted the request you posted."

"Oh, adventurers! Come in, come in!" The old man wanted to invite Dan Feng and Roxy Migurdia inside, but the two politely declined.

"No need, let's just talk about the request directly." Dan Feng got straight to the point.

The elderly man nodded upon hearing this, then told Dan Feng and Roxy Migurdia the whole story.

Basically, every night a swarm of giant locusts would fly toward their farmlands, destroying the crops they planted, and the appearance of the rock worms was seriously disrupting the soil quality of their land.

It was that simple.

The reason it was rated such a high rank was mainly because of the extremely large numbers involved.

These giant locusts could fly, which made eliminating them difficult, and the rock worms also had the ability to burrow into the ground, allowing them to easily avoid attacks.

Faced with such a tricky situation, after listening to the explanation, Dan Feng and Roxy Migurdia both nodded to show they understood and indicated that they already knew how complicated it was.

Not only that, Dan Feng quickly came up with a strategy to deal with it.

Since the giant locusts usually descended on the wheat fields at night, they decided to go to the wheat fields in the evening to wait, then as soon as they appeared, immediately use magic to eliminate them.

For now, they only needed to first head to the forest around the village and deal with those rock worms that were damaging the surrounding environment.

After bidding farewell to the village chief, Dan Feng and Roxy Migurdia headed to the forest around the village.

Rock worms—this type of monster looked very similar to earthworms on the outside, but they were C-rank monsters and posed a certain danger.

The annoying part was that they would also pollute the environment.

However, finding these rock worms wasn't particularly difficult.

Because it had just rained last night and the ground was moist—this was exactly the environment rock worms liked.

So they would temporarily abandon their burrows and crawl up to the surface to enjoy this rare moisture.

Therefore, Dan Feng and the others only needed to wander around the forest, and they were very likely to discover traces of these rock worms.
