I woke slowly, my body heavy with the remnants of last night's exhaustion and the calming medicine Stephan had made me drink.
For a moment, I lay still, feeling the steady rise and fall of his chest against my back.
His arm was still wrapped around my waist, possessive even in sleep. This is the first time I am sleeping beside him and I swear I love this position of ours.
I shifted slightly, and Stephan stirred immediately. His grip tightened for a second before relaxing.
"You're awake," he murmured, his voice rough with sleep. He pressed a soft kiss to the back of my neck, sending a small shiver down my spine.
"Yes," I whispered, turning in his arms so I could face him. His eyes were still heavy-lidded, but they softened when they met mine. "Thank you… for last night. For coming when I needed you." I let out fully from the bottom of my heart, I needed him the most and he came at that moment.
