JASMINE
The mansion was very silent when we finally returned home from the hospital. The big clock in the main hall ticked slowly.
Its steady sound filled the large space as another long night came to an end. The shocking truth Grandmother told us stayed on my mind, making it hard for me to relax.
Stephan kept his arm around my waist as we walked inside. His strong frame helped me stay steady on my feet. His warmth felt like a safe shield in the middle of a bad situation.
My body was still sore from everything that had happened, but having him beside me made the pain easier to bear.
We had just stepped into the living room when Stephan's phone rang. The loud ring broke the silence. He pulled the phone from his pocket and looked at the screen. His face turned hard. His jaw set in a tight line.
"It is Rick," he said in a low tone. "The update on the company breach."
